The Lord is not slow in fulfilling His promise, in the sense in which some men speak of slowness. But He bears patiently with you, His desire being that no one should perish but that all should come to repentance.
For the words are the language of promise and run thus, "About this time next year I will come, and Sarah shall have a son."
But you, brethren, like Isaac, are children born in fulfilment of a promise.

My meaning is that Christ has become a servant to the people of Israel in vindication of God's truthfulness-- in showing how sure are the promises made to our forefathers-- and that the Gentiles also have glorified God in acknowledgment of His mercy. So it is written, "For this reason I will praise Thee among the Gentiles, and sing psalms in honour of Thy name."
For all the promises of God, whatever their number, have their confirmation in Him; and for this reason through Him also our "Amen" acknowledges their truth and promotes the glory of God through our faith. But He who is making us as well as you stedfast through union with the Anointed One, and has anointed us, is God, and He has also set His seal upon us, and has put His Spirit into our hearts as a pledge and foretaste of future blessing.
How faithful He was to Him who appointed Him, just as Moses also was faithful in all God's house! For Jesus has been counted worthy of greater glory than Moses, in so far as he who has built a house has higher honour than the house itself.
