"Take heed that ye do not your righteousness before men, to be seen by them, otherwise at least ye have no reward with your Father Who is in Heaven.

When, therefore, you are doing alms, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say to you, they receive their reward. But, when you are doing alms, let not your left hand know what your right hand is doing, that your alms may be in secret; and your Father, Who seeth in secret, will recompense you.

"And, when ye pray, ye shall not be as the hypocrites; for they love to pray, standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men: verily I say to you, they have their reward. But when you pray, enter into your closet; and, having closed your door, pray to your Father Who is in secret; and your Father Who seeth in secret will recompense you. "And, when praying, use not vain repetitions, as the gentiles do; for they think that for their much speaking they shall be heard.read more.
Be not, therefore, like them; for your Father knoweth of what things ye have need before ye ask Him.

"And, when ye fast, be not as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance; for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear to men to fast. Verily I say to you, they receive their reward. But, when fasting, anoint your head, and wash your face, that you appear not to men to be fasting, but to your Father Who is in secret; and your Father Who seeth in secret will recompense you.

"Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through, and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in Heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes, and where theives do not break through, nor steal; for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

"No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or he will hold to one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and Mammon. Therefore, I say to you, be not anxious for your life, what ye may eat, or what ye may drink; nor for your body, what ye may put on. Is not the life more than the food, and the body than the raiment? Behold the fowls of the heaven, that they sow not, nor reap, nor gather into barns; and your Heavenly Father feedeth them. Are not ye much more valuable than they?read more.
And who of you, by being anxious, can add to his stature one cubit? And why are ye anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin; but I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed as one of these. And, if God doth so clothe the grass of the field, that to-day is, and to-morrow is cast into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith! Be not, therefore, anxious, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink!' or 'What shall we put on?' For after all these things the nations are seeking; for your Heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first His Kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you. Be not, therefore, anxious for the morrow; for the morrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its evil.

And He said to His disciples, "Therefore, I say to you, be not anxious for your soul, what ye shall eat; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on; for the soul is more than the food; and the body, than the clothing. "Consider the ravens, that they neither sow nor reap; which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them! Of how much more value are ye than the birds!read more.

"And why do you behold the mote that is in your brother's eye, but consider not the beam in your own eye? Or how will you say to your brother, 'Permit me to cast out the mote out of your eye;' and, behold, the beam is in your own eye? Hypocrite! Cast out first the beam out of your own eye; and then you will see clearly to cast out the mote out of your brother's eye.

"And why do you behold the mote that is in your brother's eye, but consider not the beam that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, 'Brother, suffer me to cast out the mote that is in your eye,' when you yourself do not see the beam in your own eye? Hypocrite! cast first the beam out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to cast out the mote that is in your brother's eye.

"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you; for every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it shall be opened.

And I say to you, ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you: for every one who asks receives; and he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks it shall be opened.

Or what man is there of you who, if his son shall ask him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he shall ask for a fish, will give him a serpent? If, therefore, ye, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father Who is in Heaven give good things to those asking Him?read more.
"All things, therefore, whatsoever ye wish that men should do to you, so do ye also to them; for this is the law and the prophets.

And of which of you that is a father shall his son ask bread, and he give him a stone? or a fish, and he, instead of a fish, give him a serpent? or if he shall ask an egg, will he give him a scorpion? If ye, then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?"

Thus, therefore, pray ye: 'Our Father, Who art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come; Thy will be done, as in Heaven, so on earth. Give us this day our daily bread.read more.
And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And bring us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one.' "For, if ye forgive men their trespasses, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you; but, if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

And He said to them, "When ye pray, say, 'Father, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come. Give us day by day our daily bread; and forgive us our sins; for we also ourselves forgive every one indebted to us. And bring us not into temptation.'"

"Not every one who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter into the Kingdom of Heaven, but he that does the will of My Father in Heaven.

"Beware of false prophets, who, indeed, come to you in sheep's clothing, but within are ravening wolves. From their fruits ye shall recognize them. Do men gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles? So every good tree bears good fruit, but the worthless tree bears evil fruit.read more.
A good tree cannot bear evil fruit, nor can a worthless tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down, and cast into the fire. So then, from their fruits ye shall know them.

"Every one who comes to Me, and hears My words, and does them, I will show you to whom he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug and went deep, and laid a foundation on the rock; and, a flood coming, the stream broke against that house, and could not shake it; because it was well built. But he who heard and did not, is like a man who built a house upon the earth without a foundation; against which the stream broke, and straightway it collapsed; and the ruin of that house was great."

And it came to pass that, when Jesus ended these words, the multitudes were astonished at His teaching; for He was teaching them as One having authority, and not as the scribes.
