and ye shall be hated of all men, for my name: but he that shall endureth unto the end, shall be saved.
And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake. But whosoever shall endure unto the end, the same shall be safe.
Beware of men: for they shall deliver you up to the councils, and shall scourge you in their synagogues;
"Wherefore, Behold, I send unto you prophets, wise men, and scribes. And of them: some shall ye kill and crucify, and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city;
Then shall they put you to trouble, and shall kill you, and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake:
Yea, and ye shall be betrayed of your fathers and mothers, and of your brethren, and kinsmen, and lovers. And some of you shall they put to death. And hated shall ye be of all men for my name's sake.
and strengthened the disciples souls: exhorting them to continue in the faith, affirming that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.
Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus, must suffer persecutions.
For unto you it is given, that not only ye should believe on Christ: but also suffer for his sake,
Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer. Behold, the devil shall cast of you into prison, to tempt you, and ye shall have tribulation ten days. Be faithful unto the death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
As it is written, "For thy sake are we killed all day long, and are counted as sheep appointed to be slain."
and chose rather to suffer adversity with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season, and esteemed the rebuke of Christ greater riches, than the treasure of Egypt. For he had a respect unto the reward.
And they laid hands on them, and put them in hold until the next day. For it was now eventide.
And to him they agreed, and called the apostles, and beat them, and commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

In journeying often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers; in jeopardies of mine own nation, in jeopardies among the heathen. I have been in perils in cities, in perils in wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; in labour and travail, in watching often, in hunger, in thirst, in fastings often, in cold and in nakedness. And beside the things which outwardly happen unto me, I am cumbered daily and do care for all congregations. Who is sick: and I am not sick? Who is hurt in the faith: and my heart burneth not?
but even after that we had suffered before and were shamefully entreated at Philippi - as ye well know - then were we bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God, with much striving.
And it seemeth to them a strange thing that ye run not also with them unto the same excess of riot, and therefore speak they evil of you,
Call to remembrance the days that are passed in the which, after ye had received light, ye endured a great fight in adversities, partly while all men wondered and gazed at you for the shame and tribulation that was done unto you, and partly while ye became companions of them which so passed their time. For ye suffered also with my bonds, and took in worth the spoiling of your goods, and that with gladness, knowing in yourselves how that ye had in heaven a better, and an enduring substance.
Blessed are they which suffer persecution for righteousness sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall falsely say all manner of evil sayings against you for my sake. Rejoice, and be glad: for great is your reward in heaven: For so persecuted they the prophets which were before your days.
And he lifted up his eyes upon the disciples, and said, "Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be satisfied. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh. Blessed are ye when men hate you, and thrust you out of their company, and rail on you, and abhor your name, as an evil thing, for the son of man's sake.read more.
Rejoice ye then, and be glad: for behold, your reward is great in heaven. After this manner their fathers entreated the prophets.
And they departed from the council rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer rebuke for his name.
Be not ashamed to testify our Lord, neither be ashamed of me, which am bound for his sake: but suffer adversity with the gospel also through the power of God,
For it is thankworthy if a man, for conscience toward God, endure grief, suffering wrongfully.
It is better - if the will of God be so - that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.
Dearly beloved, be not troubled in this heat, which now is come among you to try you, as though some strange thing had happened unto you: but rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's passions, that when his glory appeareth, ye may be merry and glad. If ye be railed upon for the name of Christ; happy are ye. For the spirit of glory and the spirit of God resteth upon you. On their part he is evil spoken of: but on your part he is glorified.read more.
See that none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or an evil doer, or as a busybody in other men's matters. If any man suffer as a Christian man, let him not be ashamed: but let him glorify God on his behalf.
If ye shall endure chastening, God offereth himself unto you, as unto sons. What son is that whom the father chasteneth not?
If ye were of the world, the world would love his own. Howbeit, because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore hateth you the world.
I have given them thy words, and the world hath hated them: because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
If we be sons, we are also heirs: the heirs, I mean, of God: and heirs annexed with Christ. If so be that we suffer together, that we may be glorified together.
From henceforth, let no man put me to business. For I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus.
so that we ourselves rejoice of you in the congregations of God, over your patience and faith in all your persecutions, and tribulations that ye suffer: which is a token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye are counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer.
No manner chastising for the present time seemeth to be joyous, but grievous; nevertheless, afterward it bringeth the quiet fruit of righteousness unto them which are therein exercised.
Behold, bitter as gall was my pensiveness: so sore longed I for health. And it was thy pleasure to deliver me from the filthy pit: for thou it is, O Lord, that hath cast all my sins behind thy back.

in the which time ye shall rejoice, though now for a season - if need require - ye are in heaviness, through manifold temptations, that your faith, once tried, being much more precious than gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto laud, glory, and honour, at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
And we always bear in our bodies the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus might appear in our bodies.
Now joy I in my sufferings which I suffer, for you; and fulfill that which is behind of the passions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the congregation -

They that sow in tears, shall reap in joy. He that now goeth on his way weeping, and beareth forth good seed, shall doubtless come again with joy, and bring his sheaves with him.
but that the holy ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and trouble abide me. But none of those things move me. Neither is my life dear unto myself; that I might fulfill my course with joy, and the ministration which I have received of the Lord Jesus to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
Me thinketh that God hath set forth us, which are apostles, for the lowest of all: as it were, men appointed to death. For we are a gazingstock unto the world, and to the angels, and to men. We are fools for Christ's sake, and ye are wise through Christ: we are weak, and ye are strong. Ye are honorable, and we are despised. Even unto this day we hunger and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted with fists, and have no certain dwelling place,read more.
and labour working with our own hands. We are reviled, and yet we bless. We are persecuted, and suffer it. We are evil spoken of, and we pray. We are made as it were the filthiness of the world, the offscouring of all things, even unto this time.
Blessed be God the father of our Lord Jesus the Christ, father of mercy, and the God of all comfort, which comforteth us in all our tribulation, insomuch that we are able to comfort them which are troubled, in whatsoever tribulation it be, with the same comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. For as the afflictions of Christ are plenteous in us: even so is our consolation plenteous by Christ.
