He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that rules his spirit than he that takes a city.

A soft answer turns away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

But I say unto you, That you resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.

With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and compliant, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

And when Joseph's brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, Joseph will perhaps hate us, and will certainly pay back to us all the evil which we did unto him. He that is quickly angry deals foolishly: and a man of wicked intentions is hated.

Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not yourself in any way to do evil.

The discretion of a man delays his anger; and it is his glory to overlook a transgression.

Therefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger: For the anger of man works not the righteousness of God.

Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

And for this reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge self control; and to self control patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness love.

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that you cannot do the things that you would. But if you be led of the Spirit, you are not under the law.

Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God who works in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
