The face of the Lord is set
against those who do what is evil,
to erase all memory of them from the earth.

The Lord hates six things;
in fact, seven are detestable to Him:
arrogant eyes, a lying tongue,
hands that shed innocent blood,
a heart that plots wicked schemes,
feet eager to run to evil,

Everyone must submit to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those that exist are instituted by God. So then, the one who resists the authority is opposing God’s command, and those who oppose it will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. and chose what I did not delight in.

For evildoers will be destroyed,
but those who put their hope in the Lord
will inherit the land.

A worthless person, a wicked man
goes around speaking dishonestly,
winking his eyes, signaling with his feet,
and gesturing with his fingers.
He always plots evil with perversity in his heart—
he stirs up trouble.

Therefore calamity will strike him suddenly;
he will be shattered instantly—beyond recovery.

The wicked are overthrown and perish,
but the house of the righteous will stand.

“For indeed, the day is coming, burning like a furnace, when all the arrogant and everyone who commits wickedness will become stubble. The coming day will consume them,” says the Lord of Hosts, “not leaving them root or branches.

But because of your hardness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath, when God’s righteous judgment is revealed.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
