The face of the Lord is set
against those who do what is evil,
to erase all memory of them from the earth.
The Lord hates six things;
in fact, seven are detestable to Him:
arrogant eyes, a lying tongue,
hands that shed innocent blood,
a heart that plots wicked schemes,
feet eager to run to evil,

For no one will be justified in His sight by the works of the law, because the knowledge of sin comes through the law.

Therefore, did what is good cause my death? Absolutely not! On the contrary, sin, in order to be recognized as sin, was producing death in me through what is good, so that through the commandment, sin might become sinful beyond measure.

The law, then, was our guardian until Christ, so that we could be justified by faith.
We know that the law is not meant for a righteous person, but for the lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinful, for the unholy and irreverent, for those who kill their fathers and mothers, for murderers, for the sexually immoral and homosexuals, for kidnappers, liars, perjurers, and for whatever else is contrary to the sound teaching based on the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was entrusted to me.
Everyone must submit to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those that exist are instituted by God. So then, the one who resists the authority is opposing God’s command, and those who oppose it will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. For government is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, because it does not carry the sword for no reason. For government is God’s servant, an avenger that brings wrath on the one who does wrong.

Because they hated knowledge,
didn’t choose to fear the Lord,
were not interested in my counsel,
and rejected all my correction,

Don’t those who plan evil go astray?
But those who plan good find loyalty and faithfulness.
If anyone returns evil for good,
evil will never depart from his house.

what sprouts fails to yield flour.
Even if they did,
foreigners would swallow it up.
I will destine you for the sword,
and all of you will kneel down to be slaughtered,
because I called and you did not answer,
I spoke and you did not hear;
you did what was evil in My sight
and chose what I did not delight in.
affliction and distress for every human being who does evil, first to the Jew, and also to the Greek;
For evildoers will be destroyed,
but those who put their hope in the Lord
will inherit the land.
A worthless person, a wicked man
goes around speaking dishonestly,
winking his eyes, signaling with his feet,
and gesturing with his fingers.
He always plots evil with perversity in his heart—
he stirs up trouble.

Therefore calamity will strike him suddenly;
he will be shattered instantly—beyond recovery.
The wicked are overthrown and perish,
but the house of the righteous will stand.
“For indeed, the day is coming, burning like a furnace, when all the arrogant and everyone who commits wickedness will become stubble. The coming day will consume them,” says the Lord of Hosts, “not leaving them root or branches.
But because of your hardness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath, when God’s righteous judgment is revealed.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
