'Accept' in the Bible
If you do well {will I not accept you}? But if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. And its desire [is] for you, but you must rule over it."
I will accept nothing from you except that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men who went with me: Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre. Let them take their portion."
He replied, “You are to accept the seven ewe lambs from my hand so that this act will serve as my witness that I dug this well.”
and said to Ephron in the presence of the people of the land, “Please listen to me. Let me pay the price of the field. Accept it from me, and let me bury my dead there.”
And say ye moreover, Behold, thy servant Jacob is behind us. For he said, I will appease him with the present that goeth before me, and afterward I will see his face; peradventure he will accept of me.
Jacob was thinking, "I'll pacify him with the presents that are being sent ahead of me. Then, when I meet him, perhaps he'll accept me." So the presents went ahead of him, while he spent that night in the camp.
"No, please take them," Jacob said. "If I have found favor in your sight, accept my gift from my hand. Now that I have seen your face and you have accepted me, it is as if I have seen the face of God.
Please accept my blessing (gift) which has been brought to you, for God has dealt graciously with me and I have everything [that I could possibly want].” So Jacob kept urging him and Esau accepted it.
Then shall an oath of the LORD be between them both, that he hath not put his hand unto his neighbour's goods; and the owner of it shall accept thereof, and he shall not make it good.
Thou shalt not accept a false report; extend not thy hand to the wicked, to be an unrighteous witness.
"You must not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds those who see and subverts the words of the righteous.
"Tell the Israelis to take an offering for me, and you are to accept my offering from every person whose heart moves him to give.
This is the offering that you are to accept from them: gold, silver, and bronze;
Then he said, “My Lord, if I have indeed found favor in Your sight, my Lord, please go with us. Even though this is a stiff-necked people, forgive our wrongdoing and sin, and accept us as Your own possession.”
nor shall you accept any such from the hand of a foreigner for offering as the food of your God; for their corruption is in them, they have a defect, they shall not be accepted for you.’”
So you shall keep My commandments and do them; I am the Lord.
“If in spite of these things you do not accept My discipline, but act with hostility toward Me,
And that I also have walked contrary unto them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity:
The land also shall be left of them, and shall enjoy her sabbaths, while she lieth desolate without them: and they shall accept of the punishment of their iniquity: because, even because they despised my judgments, and because their soul abhorred my statutes.
“Accept these from them to be used in the work of the tent of meeting, and give this offering to the Levites, to each division according to their service.”
Moses was very angry, so he told the LORD, "Please don't accept their offering. I haven't taken even one donkey from them nor have I hurt even one of them."
For we will not accept any inheritance on the other side of the Jordan River and beyond, because our inheritance has come to us on this eastern side of the Jordan."
But if they don’t go across with you in battle formation, they must accept land in Canaan with you.”
You are not to accept a ransom for the life of a murderer who is guilty of killing someone; he must be put to death.
Neither should you accept a ransom for the person who flees to his city of refuge, allowing him to return and live in the land before the death of the high priest.
Do not deny justice or show partiality to anyone. Do not accept a bribe, for it blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the righteous.
{And then} if {they accept your terms of peace} and {they surrender to you}, {and then} all the people {inhabiting it} shall be forced labor for you, and they shall serve you.
If it does not accept terms of peace but makes war with you, then you are to lay siege to it.
Bless, LORD, his substance, and accept the work of his hands: smite through the loins of them that rise against him, and of them that hate him, that they rise not again.

But Elisha said, “As the Lord lives, I stand before Him. I will not accept it.” Naaman urged him to accept it, but he refused.
Gehazi, the prophet Elisha's servant, thought, "Look, my master did not accept what this Syrian Naaman offered him. As certainly as the Lord lives, I will run after him and accept something from him."
But Naaman insisted, “Please, accept 150 pounds.” He urged Gehazi and then packed 150 pounds of silver in two bags with two changes of clothes. Naaman gave them to two of his young men who carried them ahead of Gehazi.
But Elisha questioned him, “Wasn’t my spirit there when the man got down from his chariot to meet you? Is it a time to accept money and clothes, olive orchards and vineyards, sheep and oxen, and male and female slaves?
So Hezekiah sent this message to the king of Assyria at Lachish: "I have offended you. Withdraw from me, and I'll accept whatever tribute you impose." So the king of Assyria required Hezekiah to pay him 300 talents of silver and 30 talents of gold.
And the peoples of the land who bring merchandise and any grain on the Sabbath day to sell, we will not accept it from them on the Sabbath or on a holy day. We will forego [the crops of] the seventh year and [cancel] every debt.
We accept responsibility for fulfilling the commands to give one third of a shekel each year for the work of the temple of our God,
We also accept responsibility for bringing the first fruits of our land and the first fruits of every fruit tree year by year to the temple of the LORD.
We also accept responsibility, as is written in the law, for bringing the firstborn of our sons and our cattle and the firstborn of our herds and of our flocks to the temple of our God, to the priests who are ministering in the temple of our God.
Esther’s female servants and her eunuchs came and reported the news to her, and the queen was overcome with fear. She sent clothes for Mordecai to wear so he could take off his sackcloth, but he did not accept them.

“Shall God’s retribution [for your sins] be on your terms, because you refuse to accept it?For you must do the choosing, and not I;Therefore say what you [truthfully] know.
Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you: for him will I accept: lest I deal with you after your folly, in that ye have not spoken of me the thing which is right, like my servant Job.
And they go -- Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, Zophar the Naamathite -- and do as Jehovah hath spoken unto them; and Jehovah doth accept the face of Job.
Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt sacrifice; Selah.
This [is] the journey [of those who] have foolish [confidence], and those after them [who] accept their sayings. Selah
I will not accept a bull from your householdor male goats from your pens,
Then you will accept the proper sacrifices, burnt sacrifices and whole offerings; then bulls will be sacrificed on your altar.
How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah.
Accept, I beseech thee, the freewill offerings of my mouth, O LORD, and teach me thy judgments.
May you accept my prayer like incense, my uplifted hands like the evening offering!
since you neglected all my counseland did not accept my correction,
“They would not accept my counsel,They spurned all my reproof.
My son, if you accept my wordsand store up my commands within you,
Listen, my son. Accept my words,and you will live many years.
He will not consider any payment, nor will he be willing to accept it, no matter how large the bribe.
Accept my instruction instead of silver,and knowledge rather than pure gold.
The wise in heart [are willing to learn so they] will accept and obey commands (instruction),But the babbling fool [who is arrogant and thinks himself wise] will come to ruin.
The wicked will accept a bribe from the lap, [in order] to pervert the ways of justice.
It is not good to accept the person of the wicked, to overthrow the righteous in judgment.
Listen to advice and accept discipline, and you'll be wise for the rest of your life.
A poor but wise youth is better than an old but foolish king who will no longer accept correction.
Furthermore, for every person to whom God has given wealth, riches, and the ability to enjoy them, to accept this allotment, and to rejoice in his work this is a gift from God.
Those who are confused will gain understanding,and those who grumble will accept instruction.

Thus saith the LORD unto this people, Thus have they loved to wander, they have not refrained their feet, therefore the LORD doth not accept them; he will now remember their iniquity, and visit their sins.
When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt offering and an oblation, I will not accept them: but I will consume them by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence.
But they didn't listen, nor did they pay attention. They were determined not to listen and not to accept instruction.
They have turned their backs to me rather than their faces. Even though I taught them, teaching them again and again, they didn't listen to accept correction.
“This is what the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: Go, say to the men of Judah and the residents of Jerusalem: Will you not accept discipline by listening to My words?”—this is the Lord’s declaration.
And Jehovah is not able any more to accept you, because of the evil of your doings, because of the abominations that ye have done, and your land is for a waste, and for an astonishment, and for a reviling, without inhabitant, as at this day.
For in mine holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, there shall all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, serve me: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings, and the firstfruits of your oblations, with all your holy things.
I will accept you with your sweet savour, when I bring you out from the people, and gather you out of the countries wherein ye have been scattered; and I will be sanctified in you before the heathen.
People who live in you accept bribes in order to shed blood. You take interest and profit on a loan and brutally extort your neighbors. You have forgotten Me.” This is the declaration of the Lord God.
And when these days are expired, it shall be, that upon the eighth day, and so forward, the priests shall make your burnt offerings upon the altar, and your peace offerings; and I will accept you, saith the Lord GOD.
"So now, our God, accept the prayer and requests of your servant, and show favor to your devastated sanctuary for your own sake.
Though they offer sacrificial giftsand eat the flesh,the Lord does not accept them.Now He will remember their guiltand punish their sins;they will return to Egypt.
Take words of repentance with youand return to the Lord.Say to Him: “Forgive all our sinand accept what is good,so that we may repay Youwith praise from our lips.
For I know your transgressions are many and your sins are great,You who distress the righteous and accept bribesAnd turn aside the poor in the gate.
