Is anyone running the Hoosier Pro-Street Radials on your street car?

If so:

How is the dry/wet traction?

What is the UTQG rating? (100,350,400 etc.)

I am still shopping around for new rear tires for this Spring. I want to replace my existing P255/60R15's with something stickier. I recently came across these. I like the tread pattern for a street car and they are an H (130mph) rated tire, but I am curious about if the traction is any better than the Indy500's/BG's/Coopers.

i have the 29-12.50 on my charger. they aren't a bad tire, but not real sticky. i haven't been in the rain, so i can't comment on wet traction. i don't know the rating. i might be able to get it this afternoon if i can find the time.

Would you rate them in the same catagory as the BFG's/Cobras/Indy 500's for traction?

If you get a chance, please post the UTQG rating. I cant find it online and I believe the above three brands are rated around 400-500.

It's not a sticky tire,nor was it intended to be one. I have the 19315's on my Demon. They work well and the 2 times I did drive in the rain,they did just fine.When I go to the track,I use slicks.


Nautilus Racing-
We use Superformance gaskets and Turbo Action converters/products.

You do know that UTQG ratings are not governed by the DOT and they are a subjective rating of the manufacturer's rating of the tire against other products in their catalog. Since Hoosier makes racing tires, they do not have a baseline rating for those racing tires to assign a UTQC number to this street tire. If they did, it could easily be a 500+ since it will last 5 times as long as a race tire.

No I did not know. I assumed that the UTQG ratings were for all brands. Thanks for clarifying.

I am still deciding, but so far it will be either the M/T EE Streets or the Nitto 555R's.

UTQC ratings are simply how each manufacturer determines how well their tires rate within their product line. So Hoosier, who makes racing tires, could rate their Pro-Street at 500 because of how long it lasts compared to a race tire, yet its actual on the street mileage could be more like a 200 compared to someone like Mastercraft that make high mileage tires. So yea, its a tool for use within a single manufacturer, not across manufacturers.

The Pro Streets look like they would be a cool street tire, but their compound is a bit hard and they are designed with way too much sidewall to be a serious handling tire. Primary market these were developed for was the street rod crowd, not the street handling crowd.

There are a lot of 15" drag race oriented tires with soft compounds and soft sidewalls. There are no serious UHP, handling tires in 15". The closest thing to this would be Avon CRZZ, which is actually a d.o.t. race tire and they do not recommend it for actual street use. Soft compound, stiff sidewall, $350+ per tire.

I'm gonna try the Hoosier Quick time on the rear for racing this year and I have Micky Thompson S/T radials on all four corners for general street use. I really like the new S/T's for a smooth ride and good handling.The Hoosier Quick time is a very soft bias ply and I think they will hook pretty good thumbs
