Oh you’re right. There’s uncovered scar showing. Man sometimes I’m floored by people’s attention to detail, lol.

I agree with Adept that this scene really could be the same scene as when he extends his hand in Vader fashion.

I don't think those are from the same scenes. In the scene from the gif, Kylo's hair is wet and its raining (in the trailer you could see the droplets of water on his hair). When he's reaching out his hair is dry and there's no sign of rain, only the embers falling.

    The possibilities are interesting.

If Kylo brandishing the lightsaber comes first, then could be this is what's happening:
    1. He's about to fight Rey, at some point later he stops fighting and extends his hand - this would probably be in line with a more villainous turn of events (i.e. he's extending his hand in the same manner as Vader to a cornered Luke, join me in the Dark Side)

    2. He's about to fight one or more of the other villains in a heel face turn moment. He extends the hand to Rey or whoever (most likely Rey) after the fight is over.

If the hand part comes first, then maybe his offer was rejected and he doesn't take it well.

Zoom in on a picture of Kylo in the extended hand scene. His forehead is wet.

That's probably sweat from the heat of the fire.

    And his hair is dry.

If the hand offering does occur on Ach To then I'm going to guess that what's behind him is that rumored hut being destroyed. Perhaps he thinks Luke is dead, and is making Rey an offer since training his own apprentice would be the logical next step for his own ascension. Though...twisting the blade like that....it's a very deliberate motion...and I can't help but think he's trying to inflict pain and not kill. He did something similar to Finn when he drove the side blade into his shoulder.

The other place this could occur is on the Star Destroyer after the charges go off...or somewhere on Crait.

The most...frightening possibility is that it's not Rey or Luke who this is being done too...but Leia. What if Kylo dosen't pull the trigger during the TIE scene...but he learns it's not totally due to his own sentiment. At the same time Rey discovers she's becoming angrier and more aggressive. The reason is that they each got something of the other when Kylo Ren invaded her mind. That might even be WHY Luke is so concerned about training her, he senses this link and realizes what it could cause. So, if Rey being tortured by Snoke occurs BEFORE Crait, I'm going to guess that torture severs the connection between them. Without Rey's compassion influencing him, Kylo descends further into darkness (Which is why we see him wearing the Vader Cape on Crait). And proves it by torturing his mother with a Lightsaber until Luke or Rey steps in and stops him.

And there it is, the one last chance to turn away from Darkness was just cut down...and now JJ can take the films in a new direction, like he talked about here: http://www.gamesradar.com/star-wars...-past-jj-abrams-says-we-have-to-go-elsewhere/

I mean we've done a Redemption story before...what might he do to swerve from the expected.

I don’t think the drops on Kylo’s Head are probably sweat, personally. I’m leaning toward Kylo offers his hand to Rey on Ahch Tu, and she goes with him, and that’s how she ends up with Snoke.

Yes, and isn't he wearing his cape in the one with the rain as well?

That still fits actually, the offered hand occurs BEFORE the rain begins to fall, (If that is rain) then after it's rejected he goes on the attack. The blaze/explosion whatever it is get's worse and the final part of that battle is Kylo Ren using his blade to torture someone.

That's right. I forgot about that. In that scene he has his cape and in the other he doesn't.

Edit: Lighting doesn't match either. Saber twirl is overly bright, with the red saber appearing almost white, while the other scene has deeper, warmer colors.

    Adept ?

It’s not like they’re at the exact same time, lol. The fire isn’t in the same state of burning imo.

In The Piano, Harvey Keitel's character rapes Holly Hunter. The next thing she does is undress and have sex with him. Then she ends up with him.

    Is Jane Campion a misogynist?

Actually, if you look closely there's water droplets in his hair even though his hair is relatively dry. [IMG]

You're right. It seems like he offers his hand after the the saber twirl bit then, since he loses his cape in the meantime.

It would seem some time passes then (unless he just ripped his cloak off mid battle?). It would make sense to remove a soaking wet cloak as you dried off (and his hair does look drier than the lightsaber scene, as you mentioned).

Personally, I don't think those two scenes are connected. His scar looks more healed in this scene than in the saber twirl IMO. The extended hand scene might not even happen on Ahch-to, although I think it's near the end of the film.[IMG]

So my theory is looking more and more plausible. We heard about a ship burning on Ach To (or perhaps it's the tree some people say Kylo sets on fire). This could easily be where Kylo makes his offer...and I'm going to guess Rey rejects it. I think in all the Ach-To shots Rey is wearing her 'Resistance' outfit...even the shot in the trailer where she's asking for help. However when she is being tortured by Snoke she's in her Jedi Apprentice robes. I'm guessing this is how she earns those robes, this is the moment when Luke sees she's fit to wear them and bear the burden of what they mean. I'm not sure how she ends up before Snoke, but she might choose to join Finn's sabotage mission for reasons we can't currently see. The resulting bombs giving her and Finn a chance to break free of their captors.

    He has two hands.

Reshoots could also be at work here. Stuff gets changed during post and dropped out of these trailers and stuff all the time. Something else I keep in the back of my mind with this stuff.

He does?!?!? My point was the lightsaber is in his right hand (the one he extends).

And seeing that most of her 'Jedi' outfit is repurposed from her Jakku clothes, I don't think she has to 'earn' them from Luke at all (I mean really, a man tells Rey when she's 'fit' to wear something??).

Correct, and he could move the saber from his right hand to his left hand before he holds it out.

A man tells women all the time when they are fit to wear something, just like they tell men when they are fit to wear something. You see it in the military and the clergy all the time. You don't get to wear a priests habit or an officers uniform until you earn it.

The clothing in question is specifically called 'Jedi Apprentice' which suggests it occurs AFTER Luke commits to training Rey and I'm willing to bet her actions at this moment go a long way to convincing Luke she's ready.

And that still doesn't explain the lack of cape and lack of rain + drier hair... So unless, as Magnar mentioned there are inconsistencies with the filming, there are still some issues to those two shots being from the same scene.

Maybe that shot is from a flash forward set in an alternate universe, and Kylo Ren is trying to convince Rey that WE NEED TO GO BACK
