By in Denmark,

A NEW TRAIN!! YESSSSSS... :-)
And I love the tree.. so cool.

Gravatar
By in United States,

YES
Did not see this coming, holy cow! What an amazing surprise - I want every single one!

Gravatar
By in Norway,

Are you kidding me?!?! That train!!!!

Gravatar
By in Serbia,

Damn, I will be buying the entire range.

Gravatar
By in United States,

These make me sooo excited! I especially love the Whomping Willow! I guess I'll have to rewatch all the movies...

Gravatar
By in Denmark,

Sell the train - keep the trainstation!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm very off put by the short legs on the minifigures. I know that ron, harry, and hermonie are children, but I remember when the original yellow-faced sets were in stores in the first wave and getting a lot of them, and it just feels off. Too must nostalgia for this AFOL I guess. The train looks nice though!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Is the train motorized?

Gravatar
By in United States,

The train car uses regular windows, not train windows :(

Gravatar
By in United States,

I was hopeful that 75953 could connect to 75954, but it doesn't look like that's the intent based on these images. Maybe the pin holes on 75954 are just for the rumored D2C set, or even for a future wave.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Oh my god! It's amazing! Will be buying every set, including the UCS, and every figure. AAAA!

Gravatar
By in United States,

RIP Wallet.

I love the use of the Emerald Night wheels on the Hogwarts Express. But why the short legs? It makes sense for the first two films were the actors were really children; but Prisoner of Azkhaban is were I remember the actors started to seem like teenagers

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'm not a Harry Potter fan, or a Train fan... yet somehow the Hogwarts Express is really empting me.

Gravatar
By in United States,

As a bit of a locomotive nerd, I must say that the Hogwarts Express is definitely at it's best this time round. She actually looks like her basis now. The only drawback is that there's only one coach and no rails to run on. But yeah, props to Lego this time around.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Is there a knob on the right hand side of the tree? Will that make it whomp?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I just noticed, The Hogwarts Express set has the magic wall functionality if you look closely! There's overhead signs for platforms 9 & 10, and in the image in the article of just the platforms without the train you can see where the wall can swing open and shut to let the figures through!

Simple, but a really nice detail in my opinion!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Lego must have they're own wizarding Genius's these are just perfection, especially that train its spot on im also particularly fond of of hogwarts and the whomping willow, very nice scene and details,
Will Daigon Alley be making an appearance as a set?

Gravatar
By in Australia,

@Fatoran - Yes the wall swings up so they can move through! Good spot.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm not gonna be able to buy any more Lego for a long time after this... I'm hoping to get the whole line, and my wallet will be in pain. :'( So excited though! Any idea on price points for these?

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I love the new Hogwarts Express and the Quidditch pitch… although, while the stud shooters for bludgers are an inspired idea, using them for the quaffle seems like a bit of a shame since it makes it so much less round than it would have been in past sets. A new Golden Snitch piece is interesting and probably a good choice since past sets that just used a gold stud never really felt as authentic. Another thing that's a bit of a shame is that I think the stands could have potentially been a great place to reuse the funhouse mirror piece from Joker Manor! A bit exaggerated, perhaps, but it would've helped communicate their tent-like material.

The Hogwarts and Whomping Willow set is nice, and it's cool to get a minifigure of Filch, but I really hate that this exclusive reveal doesn't show it from more angles. In general, I do love how warm and inviting Hogwarts looks even without the green roofs that characterized it in the early years of Harry Potter sets. It feels naturalistic without looking as sterile as a lot of the monochrome castle MOCs I see on forums or at conventions.

And it's good to see the inclusion of livable spaces, as that has always been one of the great things elevating Hogwarts sets above standard LEGO castles. I remember reading an interview about the research process when developing LEGO Friends where the researchers tested the same LEGO Castle set with both boys and girls. The girls were largely bored and disappointed with the castle because there was practically nothing inside, while the boys didn't care because for them it was just the backdrop for medieval battle scenes. Put me with the girls on this issue — a castle that doesn't give any indication of its inhabitants having lives beyond fighting just feels lackluster and watered-down to me, especially in this day and age when so many other themes like Elves and even Nexo Knights make their castles feel much more livable.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Dementor is cool, and I love the Filch minifig! Great sets. I have a Hogwarts Express set from Prisoner of Azkaban, and this is a great rendition for sure. I really would like this set, too. Too many good things--I'm going broke and running out of room.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I will likely buy the whole line. However, I will wait to see if the UCS Hogwarts is true. If there is A UCS Hogwarts I will likely buy these four smaller sets or the UCS, but not both.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Oh no, this is going to get *very* expensive. I can't remember the last time I wanted to buy every set in a line...

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

Goddamn. It's looking increasingly likely that I'll save up and buy the whole wave. LEGO, why do you do this to us?

Gravatar
By in United States,

@ Spartan Ghost, of course not!! I missed ALL of the other Harry Potter waves, but I’m not going to miss this one!! :D

Gravatar
By in United States,

The prices are reasonable, too. Makes the Disney / Star Wars markups look even worse by comparison.

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

The sets are cool, just not me.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

That Whomping Willow looks kind of whacky...

Other than that, I love these sets!

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Why do I think 'Thomas the tank engine' looking at this? :)
Looks like some pretty cool sets. though.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

All these months of just waiting for any new info about Harry Potter ALMOST come to and end.

I can't wait to see what the big Hogwarts castle will look like!!!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

This is going to be a hard theme to resist – I predict I will end up with all of them :-)

Gravatar
By in Czech Republic,

Really nice sets. I like the comeback of Wizarding World.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Ok well......mine, mine, and mine. Along with the Great Hall. Are these out on June 1 as well???

Gravatar
By in United States,

I've never even seen any of the Harry Potter movies, but these sets look really good. I'm getting tempted by so many different themes this year!

Gravatar
By in United States,

@iso3200

I don't even need to predict that I will get them all, I just know I will.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Oh no. I'm gonna have to save big time to get all these on top of the other sets I want

Gravatar
By in France,

Loving that train

Gravatar
By in Italy,

Man I'm soo excited hope they continue the line for at least another 2 years, and there still is the D2C giant hogwarts

Gravatar
By in Norway,

The train engine looks much better than in 4841 - but the carriage looks worse because it is even shorter and just uses regular windows... and why still bright red? This would be a definitive purchase in dark red!
Edit: and the tender is tiny! Will need to combine and modify the tenders and carriages from these two sets to get something decent...

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

I saw a picture of a leaked olivander minifig, so I think there’s a Diagon Alley set coming as well! Wasn’t expecting these sets this year, but OH so happy! They pushed the jurassic world sets straight out of my wanted list! I’ll be getting all of them!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm not a Harry Potter fan, but will probably buy the train. Finally, another set using the large train wheels. Why didn't they use the magnet couplers? This train looks better than the new 2018 train sets that will be released soon, and may have more parts than they do too.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

It makes sense for TLG to exclude the Rails for the Hogwarts Express to allow for a bigger station design without pushing the set price too high.
It is great how the two building sections join together.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

@wwward- Ollivander could be a CMF figure (unlikely because I don't think they usually leak early) or the figure that accompanies the activity book, which is where I think he'll be found. I don't think a Diagon Alley set is rumored for this wave and it would be cooler to get one later as a D2C set.

This entire line is simply breathtaking. So many amazing figures and new molds! Harry Potter got me into Lego in 2010/2011 and I'm incredibly happy to see it making a return. I'm an avid Super Hero collector but I may need to stop buying those sets and dedicate my entire budget to this theme.

Gravatar
By in Norway,

I am going to use the 75955 train and the 4841 carriage. And use magnetic cuplings. THAT will be perfect!

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Lego, lego, lego... I don’t know what to say. I need this but my wallet is crying.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

The Hogwarts castle and train look excellent, but the Quidditch match is a lot less interesting.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'm really disappointed. I was really looking forward to a Whomping Willow set, not a small tree as part of a larger set. I was hoping they'd design a really cool tree with equally neat play features.

Obviously I've yet to see the movement of the tree but overall as an owner of the previous iterations of other Harry Potter sets I see little that entices me to buy any of these. They don't offer any significant improvements or additions to the HP world.

Actually, I'm gutted. HP was one of my favourite dormant themes that is back this year and I guess I was hoping for something much more magical and imaginative. :o(

I'm sure the sets will sell well to those who don't have the previous ones. Guess this is what it's like to be a Star Wars theme collector.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

No joke, I'm buying MOST of the Wizarding World stuff when it comes out, and maybe even a couple of boxed sets to put away for a later date. This stuff if only gonna gain value when it goes out of production!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I like that they made Harry, Ron, etc. child size but I feel like by the Prisoner of Azkaban they should have adult legs. The Hogwarts Express set seems to be from that film as it has Lupin, the Dementor and the Sirius Black 'wanted' poster so they maybe should have had adult legs in that set but I can see that it makes sense to keep the child legs for consistency.

Also, who is the trolley lady in the Hogwarts Express set seems a bit unnecessary. She is a very minor character. Although, I do appreciate the inclusion of the chocolate frog.

Gravatar
By in United States,

They look amazing! I love the demontor! And the other updated minifigures are amazing!
Planning on getting at leat a few of these!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I WANT THEM ALL!!!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I do wonder if the license TLG has for Harry Potter lets them make a Hogwarts Express but (due to someone else having the license) doesn't let them make one that includes train track.

That said, with new City track packs being released, it should hopefully be fairly simple to buy enough track for your Hogwarts Express if you dont already have track :)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Finally a Hogwarts Express with decent wheels!
(Shame it’s bright red instead of dark red though)

All great sets and definite purchases... it’s gonna be an expensive summer for sure.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I definitely feel like I'm out on a limb, here, but I find the train disappointing. I can't get over how tiny it is, though. It's like they took the other Hogwarts Express's and shrunk them in the wash. And where are the magnet buffers for the carriages? Okay, it's got some big train wheels (and the body sort of resembles what it's supposed to). But it's so ... small.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hot dang, I like every single one of these. Probably going to at least grab copies of the Whomping Willow set and Hogwarts Great Hall. Jury's still out on the train, that would probably break the bank somewhat.

Still, it's an awesome lineup.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Looks like I’ll have to pick up some more lawns to mow this summer.... I was getting weird looks from all the kids in my class as I gasped and looked at these in awe lol

Gravatar
By in Guyana,

Even though I'm not a Harry Potter fan, I can still see that these are great sets!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I must say I'm very impressed with this range. After a brief four year hiatus, the Harry Potter sets are back and better than ever. I enjoy the many new molds and the fact this line has returned. I just hope this theme isn't short lived as I think they could update so much, even the most recent sets from 2011. I think I'll get some if not all of these sets. Man, this year is going to be very good. If I had to rank the sets, it would go something like this
1. Great Hall
2. Hogwarts Express
3. Whomping Willow
4. Quidditch Match
Mind you, all these sets are very nice, but sometimes one has to prioritize

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Why on the train set that they not include a train track that would look so much better I wish that the Hogwarts castle pieces built it up instead of a cross

Gravatar
By in Poland,

I was hoping for a return to medieval castles with knights and costumes. I was oversaturated with Harry Potter everything before (not just Lego but the whole merch deluge). Guess I'm not over it yet.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Well, we knew news was coming but... ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY!?!?!? All sets look great, wish the whomping willow was bigger but there is a substantial chunk of castle... makes me wonder how that will tie into the ALLEGED d2c Hogwarts castle. Hogwarts express is a nice surprise, I like the platform as much as the train, great set. Quidditch... not excited but lord knows I'll buy it. THANKS FOR BRINGING HP BACK LEGO!!!!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

getting the train.. though it doesn't seems to come with an important part.. TRACKS.. missing Tracks?? still a vast improvement over the older style. Being in Australia, it will most probably be a AUD 300 set :( my poor wallet..

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

So excited about these - good thing I've been saving up for HP since January :)

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I guess I'm in the minority on this, I love the train, will probably get it and I'm happy there are no tracks. It would bump the price up and I already have the track from the winter holiday train to make a loop if I want to. I don't have room for track anyway, I only set it up at christmas on the dining room table. I think it would be nice if there were train sets that where just rail cars or different engines that came by themselves without track.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I love it. Going to get everything from HP. Still hoping for the massive HP set that might come; and I'm sure HP all around the world would welcome it even if they are not Lego fans originally and become one!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Ugh, they're absolutely incredible. This is an utterly catastrophic LEGO year for my finances.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

A Hogwart's express. Excellent! Now the big question is, can it be motorized?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Any decent train can be motorised! Best case scenario from Lego is sets like Maersk, Horizon Express... and hopefully this Hogwarts Express... all of which are perfect for the ultimate lego train system - the 9V.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

To everyone saying they don't like the look of this: great! Keep away from it. More for me to buy!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I don’t follow Harry Potter, but is that blue and white car a Ford Anglia?

Gravatar
By in United States,

love it!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I don't usually complain about the price of Lego, but these seem really overpriced for what they are. The Whomping Willow has more of a focus on the castle than the tree and car (the car is cool but the tree is below average imo). They'd have been better splitting it up into two smaller sets, because I'm not spending $80 on two half-hearted sets, no matter how cool the car is. The Hogwarts Express looks fantastic, but again, $80 for for a very small train???? The only set I'm tempted by is the Great Hall, and even that's a bit lacklustre with it being only half a building.

I think I'll just hold out for a big Hogwarts set, because I don't want to be paying $80 a pop to buy half a dozen sets that are half-castle, half-something-I-don't-care-about.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I am so looking forward to these! I sadly missed out on the HP sets when they came out last time. My only wish is that the Hogwarts Express train had more cars.

Gravatar
By in United States,

These look awesome!!! I am a HUGE fan/nerd of Harry Potter, I missed out on the first Harry Potter sets and am glad for a chance to get these. I am planning on getting all of them but geez, that would be over $300!!!!
