Talking about how he approached the design of the set, Rok Zgalin Kobe, LEGO Set Designer commented: “To create the Camp Nou in LEGO form was a really enjoyable challenge, from bringing the stands to life to envisaging the players walking down the tunnel to the pitch, you can almost feel the atmosphere of a roaring home game. It is an impressive build – perfect for both FC Barcelona and LEGO fans.”

Looks neat, but I don't have much interest in it.

Gravatar
By in Finland,

I don't care for it, but there are people who will so there's nothing wrong with this thing's existence

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

Looks well designed but also incredibly repetitive to build. 5.5k pieces for €330 is good value, especially for a licensed set.
And yet, I couldn't care less about football in general all or Barca in particular, so zero interest in getting the set.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

What's next: the Maracaña? That would probably be quite tedious to build ...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

They really could not have released this set at the worse possible time.

1. Messi has recently left his longstanding club, thus dropping the allure of buying this particular set (for some).
2. Antoine Griezmann abruptly left last night before the transfer window closed to take the burden off their finances.
3. And on the subject of the clubs finances, they are currently in €1.35 billion worth of debt.
4. Personally speaking, there’s so many stickers for such a big and pricey set!

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I wonder if LEGO thinks there's a market for ~350$ stadium collectors out there?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

And the crowd goes mild!!

Gravatar
By in Spain,

I actually live in Barcelona. The first thing that struck to me was the choice of Tan as the exterior colour an not Light Bluish Grey. And also, the real stadium certainly doesn't feel that tall and has a very recognisable slope. The East grandstand (the one with the flags and all) is a lot taller than the West grandstand. That said, it looks really good!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I just wish they had a similar GWP for Old Tradford back then. The torsos here are much better than the plain red with numbers on the back for the Man United legends.

Camp Nou looks good but one stadium is enough for me as a Man United fan.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I'm probably generalizing, but I have the feeling that AFOL's and hardcore soccer fans are not especially a super common combination. And even if there are many hardcore soccer LEGO fans, businesswise it would have probably smarter making it a more affordable set.

Gravatar
By in France,

Yay a new stadium, I can't wait for Francis Le Blé next :P

This set is only targeted at FCB fans so it's not surprise it's not well received here as statistically, even if we were all football fans, there wouldn't be many huge Barça fans.
I don't think this set is meant for AFOLs at all even, but more for adult fans of FCB who can now have the stadium in their home, even if they "have to" build it in Lego first. Hey they might even have old enough kids who'd enjoy the building part while they can enjoy the build in itself (kids being Barça fans too most probably).

By in Hungary,

It sure is

Gravatar
By in Germany,

The proportions are WAAAAY off. The stadium shouldn’t be that tall (look it up on google maps 3D)

Not entirely true when you consider what the resources put into this could have been spent on instead. I wonder if there's some kind of licensing deal that makes it worth their while?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I not really interested in the model but this could be good value as a (very large) parts pack.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Beautiful set.
I have absolutely no interest in soccer or football, but I’m glad I bought the other stadium as an architectural set (and for the interesting parts). It’s more a building than a sport playset. For a similar reason some people bought the Sydney opera even though they are not opera fans.
I may buy this one too, to stay completist in the collectible stadium series (no more than 16 stadiums please!)

Gravatar
By in United States,

About the proportions, for the Manchester United and ancient Roman stadiums the designers said they deliberately exaggerated the vertical scale relative to the horizonal scale. Must have done that for this one too.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Bring on a baseball stadium please. Fenway Park, Wrigley Field, Oriole Park at Camden Yards, Yankee Stadium, etc.
Let’s go LEGO!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think Lego are missing a trick here. As a football stadium I don't have the slightest interest.

If they'd included the option to build a stage for a music venue I would be a lot more interested... with a Bruce Springsteen minifigure GWP maybe!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I’m a big football/soccer fan but still don’t have much interest in the stadiums. I guess if I’m in sports fan mode I’d rather just watch an actual game and if I’m in LEGO fan mode I’d rather build ships and castles and dragons.

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

I think I’m going to start supporting Barcelona just so I can justify owning this.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@huw - there's a quiz in the VIP rewards centre on lego.com ('THE LEGO GROUP AND FC BARCELONA SUPERFAN QUIZ') with the chance to win the LEGO Camp Nou stadium set, a own personalised minifigure and a Superfan certificate.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Wow -- that's quite an overwhelming majority of negative poll responses! 62% have no interest, 19% don't like it. Just 8% plan on buying it.

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

Lego please just spend your budget making another creative and cool creator expert set instead at this boring and repetitive stadium…

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Ooh, that print alignment on the pitch doesn’t look too good either.

Gravatar
By in Finland,

I wish they'd do another proper Creator Expert building/architecture set like the Big Ben or Sydney Opera House or Taj Mahal

Fandom should not be related to players, or something like that. You are a fan in highs or lows.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

the slope is there. as much as possible with lego without making a 2000 euro set.

Gravatar
By in Indonesia,

Nahh...not interesting at all. Even the colosseum might more tempting to me

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Not interested, don't care for football, even though it looks like a nice set.
But even if the value for money seems to be there, I have far better ways to spend 330 Euro.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think like Old Trafford this set is aimed at getting football fans into Lego rather than the other way around, so I can understand why there are so many negative poll responses.

Given that Man United and Barcelona have fan bases that go way beyond their local areas I can see why they have done them.

As a Bath City and Man City fan I can't see them ever doing Twerton Park or the Etihad.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I just don't get it, and I don't care. Obviously some people do, and I still hope it sells well. Sooooo...best of luck LEGO.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Has it always been Camp Nou and Ive been calling it Nou Camp all my life?

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Old Trafford was an interesting and mostly fun build (those red bricks got a bit much but didn't take too long to put together) with the end result being a visually interesting building. As a non sports fan, Camp Nou holds no interest to me outside of the building, which to be honest it not that interesting looking. As others have pointed out, the time and resources put into making this set could have been used to come up with something more universally appealing the visually interesting. This will go on the list of possible buys when it's 50% off on Amazon next year!

Not trying to be mean, but what did you expect?
Like others have alluded to, the overlap between AFOLs, football fans, Barca fans in particular, and registered Brickset users was clear to be quite small.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Designed by someone who's never actually seen Camp Nou? The colours are just so wrong! Mind you, a closer match to reality would have made for a *really* dull display piece. There are so many other stadia, and not just in football, that offer far more visual impact.

It's all too clear that this is more of a marketing exercise for Barca. As with Man Utd and the Old Trafford set, if there's any way they can monetise their brand/image then they will. But the niche market for these sets (avid fans of both club and LEGO, with very deep pockets) must be so small that if the clubs are on a percentage of sales (rather than a fixed sum for rights) then they'll barely make enough money for a gristly pie next matchday!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I really like these stadiums, but until Lego make an MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground- Australia, which won't happen) I have no interest. Stoked for ManU and Barca fans tho

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Wow reading those comments above ...... Its not for me but hey ho if your a fan its a neat showcase

Its Lego and this is a Lego fan site - Lego caters for all........ clue there

I personally like this set, but I don't know if I will decide to buy it, because I am not a huge football fan. Maybe if there is a big discount someday, maybe I will buy it, but it isn't a must have for me. I think this set is aimed at a fairly narrow group.

Gravatar
By in Brazil,

I'm a big fan of normal football, but Barcelona is just a joke club nowadays, sorry. Old Trafford is much more appealing.

I will wait for the stadium of my club.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Being neither a ManU nor a Barca fan, these sets don't interest me at all and the chances of getting a Tottenham Hotspur Stadium / New White Hart Lane are probably next to zero! ;-) I'm not sure I'd spend this kind of money on even that, to be honest.

At least, if they ever do an Emirates Stadium, the lack of fans and atmosphere will be very true to life! :-DDD ;-)))

The other issue with designing Camp Nou is that the pitch is actually below ground level... In fact, ground level is roughly the bottom of the second tier of seating... As someone else pointed out, the stand with the flags on it is actually almost twice the height of the West Stand (when measured from outside the stadium)...

Another issue with this set is that Barcelona actually plan to expand the stadium soon... So for how long will this set remain accurate (if accurate is what you can even call it in this state...)

In my opinion (as a huge lego fan, and also a huge football fan who has flown from the UK to watch matches in Barcelona and across Europe many many times), this is not a build that appeals to non-football fan AFOLs, and a build that is too inaccurate to appeal to many people who actually love the stadium... So to me the biggest fan base who will be buying this are the Barcelona fans who haven't been to the stadium... of which there are still many, it must be said... But the number who are prepared to shell out the money? I don't know

Gravatar
By in United States,

The previous stadium set sold well so they made another one. The target market is soccer fans who have never bought a LEGO set before. New customers are always a bigger target than existing ones. None of this is that complicated.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Stickers stickers stickers I’m surprised they can still fit any Lego in the box. Definitely not for me, a real shame as I would of loved this set but I’m not paying for stickers. Please please please stop this Lego and start printing bricks again I don’t care what the cost would be as I’m a adult with enough disposable income to purchase it

Gravatar
By in United States,

This set looks really boring to build. And who wants to spend $350 to be bored?

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I don't get it LEGO! Many other more intriguing structures you could find to present in the LEGO form either in the 18+(Creator Expert line) or Architecture theme.

Please no more stadiums!

Like seriously are there that many football fans that they will draw to buy this and then other sets? Doubtful but perhaps I am very mistaken.

US College Football stadiums please

Seems like this could be modified to be one of any number of cookie-cutter US football stadiums...but obviously not something unique with real character like Wrigley Field, Fenway Park, or Camden Yards. THOSE are fields which wouldn't be nearly as repetitive and would be interesting to see.

Problem is, as with this set, most won't buy it unless they're fans of that particular team, even if they're fans of the sport. Difference is popularity of the particular teams...Yankees which I would assume have the biggest fanbase in MLB have 2.8M followers of Instagram for example while FCB has 100M

Might become a collectors item when the club goes bankrupt in a few months time.

Not quite true. Despite being a loyal Red Sox fan, I'd be willing to buy a good model of Camden Yards, Wrigley Field, or even the *old* Yankee Stadium because of their importance to the sport. There are also some National League fields (which I've only seen on TV) with interesting usages of space, dating from the '90s and later. But I must admit the number of football/soccer fans is much larger worldwide than the number of baseball fans, so the chances of a baseball stadium (except as an Ideas project?) is pretty slim.

"The two football clubs they've done so far have large worldwide fan-bases (probably very popular in Denmark), so on paper there is a market for them. I've seen some alternative Lego brands do stadium sets for most football clubs.

I understand that there will be some future sets based off on fairly unknown Netflix reality TV series where I don't where the demand is, but with football there is a market. So I would say that the market research for this set is better."

Yeah, we have no idea what LEGOs internal data actually looks like, but we can make some summations... like that despite how much myself and everyone else seems to hate the show, 21302 mustve sold well enough to launch a theme of sitcom set sets. So with this release i think we can surmise that as others have said in this thread, 10272 probably sold really really well. But not to regular AFOLs, to football fans.

Its probably a bit similar to sports video games, everyone on every normal gaming forum hates them, but they still sell every year because theres people who are JUST sports gamers, they buy the latest console and FIFA or Madden or whatever every year and thats all, they dont play anything else, they dont even really consider themselves gamers, theyre sports fans. Theyre practically their own completely separate market, so whatever the rest of us think of the games or the business models surrounding them doesnt matter, because were not even the customers of that.

Regarding LEGO, theyve already branched out into Funkos, and now theyre chasing sneakerheads, i can sorta see someone w/ a wall of shoes having one LEGO one, not that out there. Still dont get who the typewriter is for at all...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I've seen knock-off brand versions of college football stadiums and baseball parks in the US, and in fact some of my non-AFOL friends who are big sports fans own these sets, call them "LEGO" and would buy more and/or straight from TLG. While the market for these might be niche, it is actually a relatively large one.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Just give me a LEGO Goodison Park and I'll be happy!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Pretty cool looking as far as this sort of thing goes, but Im not interested in sports so I wont be paying that much for it. I predict fans will love it!

Gravatar
By in United States,

89% won't buy it, and 5% undecided? That has to be some kind of record.

Anyway, as a non football fan I have no intention of ever buying this. Still, I can definitely appreciate the build here, and the level of detail really is incredible! I only wonder why Lego hasn't branched out into other stadiums - surely basketball, baseball, American football, etc. would be quite popular?

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

When the Old Trafford set was released I commented that it was too big a set to be a big seller. But what *would* do well is a new World Stadia sub-theme for Architecture. That would work by not just allowing for a range of smaller - and therefore more affordable - sets, but would also make it easier to produce stadia across a range of sports. And that would allow regional biases to be taken into account - American Rugby and American Rounders for the US, and Football for the more enlightened parts of the world! *stir stir stir*

I'm sure I'm not the only one who got in touch with TLG with the strong suggestion that Architecture Stadia becomes a new product line.

I tell ya, if they released an Architecture-scaled Anfield and Goodison, with Stanley Park in the middle, then I'd be in like a shot!!!

Exactly, with these resources they could have designed something that I would love to have, say a NES console, Space Shuttle Discovery, Seinfeld, Bad Batch Shuttle, Mandalorian Shuttle, Moff Gideon’s Lighrcruiser, but did they make those things I would love to have? Yes, technically they did. But my point is that Lego should only cater to me and what I want. If I’m not interested in something it is because I have impeccable taste and my opinions speak for everyone on this planet. So Lego, please give me a call and I will tell you exactly what I want so that everyone on this planet will be happy. You guys are going to love my idea of my house being made into a UCS style set with minifigures of me and my family!

Gravatar
By in United States,

If LEGO want to get me to buy a stadium set it will have to be Liverpool's Anfield

Gravatar
By in United States,

lol only 6% say yes. I expected less than 20% would say yes but this is even worse than that. Of course, zero interest to me even if it's $100. Not even in the first stadium, let alone a second in such in short time. This together with the other shoe set (2nd shoe set just like this one?) are really a SMH moment. Wish lego would really learn a lesson this time.
