Missing Moments 12x04

Owen was getting on her last nerve. Sure, she loved her brother and missed him immensely over the past ten years, but there was only so much she could take.

Ten years changed a person. They both changed. And while their old dynamic continued organically, they still weren’t the same people they’d always been, but neither of them would bring it up. Who would after what they’d both been through?

Regardless, he shouldn’t be with her right now. As much as she also couldn’t stand Amelia, she was his wife and he needed to be with her. Currently, Owen wouldn’t sit still. First he was sitting in the chair beside her bed, then he was pacing maniacally at the foot of her bed, then he was taking deep breaths in and out before he’d sit back down in the chair.

After he did this for about the thousandth time, Megan finally started to lose her calm demeanor.

“Dude. Stop it.”

“Stop what?” he asked, slight concern on his face.

“Your heavy breathing. It’s seriously creepy.” After a moment. “Is Amelia awake?”

“Yeah. She woke up about an hour ago.” About the time he had come back to her room and his incessant habits started.

“And so naturally you’re here with me.”

“Don’t start this again.”

“I thought I knew you better than that Owen. But maybe not. Since you’re natural instinct is to just run away and avoid all of your problems instead of facing them head on.” She continued as she could see Owen’s face turning red and she was hoping she’d infuriate him enough that he’d leave her alone. “You two were made for each other, you know that?”

“You’re driving me insane!” Owen raised his voice as he continued pacing.

“Right back at ya! I’m sure she’d like to see you.”

“I’m sure she wouldn’t. She’s in a lot of pain. I think she’d rather just be alone.”

“Oh my God. You are THE dumbest person on the planet. I was alone for ten years. And I’m seriously screwed up. You already seem screwed up beyond repair. Both of you do. Maybe it’s time to start healing.”

At that moment, Maggie knocked on Megan’s outer door and motioned for Owen to step out. He could tell that Maggie had been crying and immediately thought the worst.

“What’s wrong? Is she okay?” Owen asked as he closed the door behind him and immediately crossed his arms, his go-to defense mechanism when he didn’t actually want to know the truth.

“Yes and no. She’s in a lot of pain. I need you to convince her to take something. Please. I can’t stand to see her like this it’s killing me.”

Owen raised his eyebrows at her. He knew Amelia would never take painkillers, even if it’d save her life. He knew how much sobriety meant to her and that if she did cave in and take something now that she’d regret it. Nevertheless, he followed Maggie to Amelia’s recovery room. Day 1 was  always the hardest.

He peered in at Amelia, her head wrapped. Lying on her right side, her hands gripping the pillows like a lifeline, all of her muscles so tense. Simultaneously holding her breath as tears rolled down her cheeks.

He stepped in as quietly as he could manage, then lowered the rail of her bed. He hoped this would work and she wouldn’t reject him. He stepped up and laid down, his chest pressing slightly into her back, careful of his movements so he wouldn’t jostle her.

He placed his mouth close to her ear and began to whisper to her.

“Amelia, it’s me. I’m here. I’m not going anywhere. You don’t need the medicine. You’re so strong - the strongest person I know. Pain is temporary. This is temporary.” He covered her hands with his, loosening her grip so she would grab onto his hand instead. “Take some deep breaths. And relax the rest of your body.”

As he spoke softly to her, he could feel her grip began to lessen on his hand as her breaths began to even out and he could tell she was no longer sobbing. He could feel her whole body begin to relax under his touch and eventually Amelia drifted off to sleep.

That night, Owen slept in the chair beside her bed, keeping a close watch over her. Watching her sleep, he could tell that the pain was lessening minute by minute and she looked peaceful.

Owen watched over her until DeLuca came in for his check and Amelia began to stir. Amelia opened her eyes just in time to see him exit her room.

To be continued…?

What did you think? Should I continue this? Let me know.

Missing Moment 13x07

So this was compelling me. I really want it to play out like this but we all know it’s not going to happen. Hopefully this gives some hope to our Omelia fandom.

Alex settled into Maggie’s room. She was staying at the hospital all night and he really didn’t want to sleep on the couch. These days he was barely sleeping at all with the constant stress in his life, so being in a bed would be somewhat helpful in that endeavor. As he turned off the light, he started to hear things through the wall. Muffled, but there. Alex huffed in frustration as he threw back the covers and headed to his room. Amelia’s room? He didn’t even know anymore.

Alex didn’t even bother knocking on the door, he twisted the handle and stared at Amelia’s form that was facing the opposite wall.

“You okay?” Amelia remained silent. “Want to talk about it?”

“I can’t talk anymore,” Amelia said as she sniffled.

“What exactly did Owen say to you?” Alex asked as he stood his ground at the door.

“He didn’t say anything. I told him I didn’t want to have a baby and then he just walked away. I couldn’t stop him. I couldn’t breathe. I didn’t know what else to do.”

“So you didn’t really tell him?” Alex asked.

“What? Of course I told him.”

“It sounds like you didn’t tell him. At least not the important parts. How do you expect him to be okay with this if he doesn’t even know what you’ve been through?”

“He didn’t even give me the chance. He was the one to walk away. Not me. He left me just like I expected he would. Now please leave me alone.” Amelia’s voice was void and cold and she buried her face as deep into the pillow as she could and still manage to breathe.

The next morning Alex commandeered a room in the clinic and he didn’t care if he got in trouble. He needed to do this.

The door opened and his first target walked in.

“Wheres the patient?”

“Sit down,” Alex ordered. He didn’t expect that the direction would be obeyed, but the seriousness in Alex’s expression was enough for compliance.

“You better not have paged me for another stupid list,” Amelia said as she walked through the door without looking up from her pager. “I have a busy day I don’t have time to mess around.”

It was then Amelia looked up and saw Alex standing there, Owen sitting on the examination table.

“What the hell is this?” She chuckled with anxiety.

“You need to tell him.”

“This isn’t any of your business,” Amelia lowered her voice and glared at Alex.

“Tell him now. Fix this. You two both deserve the good things. Talk to him, Amelia.” And Alex left the room.

“What is he talking about? Tell me what?” Owen asked her, distrust in his eyes. She knew he was incredibly hurt, but she was as well. Her worst fears come true when he walked away from her and she wasn’t ready to forgive him for that either.

“Nothing.”

“You are not leaving until you talk about this!” Alex shouted through the door, which he had planted himself in front of.

“Where did you sleep last night?” Amelia asked him.

“I didn’t. I went to Joes. Got drunk. Hung out in the ER with a banana bag.” Owen said and Amelia cringed. “Did you sleep last night?”

“Nope,” she shuffled her feet. She never felt so awkward around Owen before; she didn’t want to do this now.

“Are you going to explain yourself?” He asked.

“Explain what?”

“Your little confession last night.”

“I don’t know are you going to leave me again?”

“I’m just more than a little confused, Amelia. Because you’re back to the same old shit. You say something and mean something entirely different. It’s what you’ve always done. You said you couldn’t wait to have a baby and now two weeks later you tell me you don’t want to have a baby.”

“Not now.”

“What?”

“The rest of that was not now. I freaked out. When I thought I was pregnant. And I know it broke your heart when the test was negative. I know how much you want that. And I want it too.”

“Do you?”

“Would you please shut up and let me get through this?” She paused to collect herself before continuing. “I want a family. And when I thought I was pregnant I was so excited. I really was. And then it sank in and I couldn’t breathe. I felt suffocated. My baby died.”

“I know that,” he said softly.

“I didn’t know I was pregnant until I was already in the second trimester. I had just gotten out of rehab. It was Ryan’s. And I was so happy. And then I found out he had anencephaly. I gave birth to him, and I held him until I needed to let him go. He donated his organs. I felt like I was dying.”

Owen pulled Amelia to him as she was overcome with emotion. “You could have told me this.”

“I know and I’m really sorry I didn’t. Owen, I was relieved when the test was negative. You were devastated and I felt relieved.”

“Amelia, it’s okay. To feel that way. You lost a baby; you never get over that.”

“I can’t do it again, Owen. I can’t lose another baby. It would kill me for real this time.”

“Why don’t we take a little break?”

“Owen, please don’t leave. I can work through this. I promise. I really want it. And I want to give you this more than anything.”

“I’m not leaving, Amelia. A break from trying. You were right. We should take time for us. Get to know each other and be together. I’d love to know more about your son.”

When Did This Happen?

For all of my Omelia family that are disappointed over last night’s episode. This is for you, hopefully it makes you laugh.

Owen finished plating his five and three year old’s breakfast all while juggling the 2 month old in his arms. Over the years he became great at multi-tasking, but he was usually never alone in doing so. He and Amelia were a team. For awhile it was great because they could  each take a kid and it would work out. But now that there was a third, it was the straw that broke the camel’s back. They couldn’t seem to get anything done, including getting their kid off to school in time.

And this morning, while he and Amelia were quietly talking before the kids woke up, they quickly discovered that she was late. Again.

“When did this happen?” Owen asked as he quickly put some pants on while Amelia made the bed.

“When does it not happen Owen? Seriously. You’d think with three kids we wouldn’t find the time, but…”

“Was it here or at the hotel?” he asked. “Or when you wore the thing?”

“Your favorite thing, which you ripped?” she asked.

“Yeah.”

“I don’t know. We don’t even know if I’m pregnant yet. Would you let me at least pee on the stick first? God.”

“Do it before Bryn gets in there. You know how long she takes in the bathroom in the morning. How can a five year old need that much time in the bathroom?”

“You know she gets it from you. And we have more than one bathroom,” she said as she placed  a calming hand on Owen’s chest.

“I’m sorry. I’m freaking out a little bit. That’s four. Four! Amelia, we won’t have enough hands!”

“Well, it’s good to know where you’re at,” Amelia laughed at him.

“Go pee, please!”

Now as he finished getting the breakfast ready, he knew he had a couple of minutes to get back to their master bathroom.

“Everything okay in there?” he asked, a little worried what was taking her so long.

“Yeah,” she said and opened the door. “I took five just to be safe.”

“Five? Really? Did you do it right?” Owen asked as he shifted their newest baby into Amelia’s arms.

“You think I don’t know how to pee on a stick by now?” she raised her eyebrows at him. She has peed on quite a few of them over the years they’d been married.

“Sorry. Is it time?”

Amelia nodded and went back into the bathroom to look at the five tests lying on the counter.

With a breath she announced, “Negative.”

“Oh thank God,” Owen breathed a sigh of relief and he kissed her. “We were not ready for another baby.”

“You’re telling me.”

Missing Moments 13x03

Coming off my writing hiatus to bring this to my beautiful readers. Hope you enjoy this missing moment from 13x03!!

Amelia sat in her car after giving her sister talk to Meredith and Maggie and reflected on the day.

So much that happened reminded her of herself and her family. She had always been the black sheep, and she rebelled as a result. She was always the wild child, and it wasn’t until she nearly died that she become serious about her school work and her dream of becoming a kickass neurosurgeon.

She and Arizona had crossed paths today over this case, and Arizona was devastated that the daughter would never get the forgiveness she sought from her mother, and it brought back a lot of memories for Amelia.

She wondered if her mother forgave her for everything she had ever put her through, even though she had made amends several times. She knew forgiveness was difficult, but she still never felt it from any members of her family, save for Derek. And he was gone now, and she didn’t really know what else she could do, especially since she was harboring some bad feelings from the wedding.

Amelia picked up her phone and scrolled to the number she had been avoiding lately and waited while it rang. She didn’t really know what she was going to say and she was praying that there would be no answer so she could just leave a message. As the phone continued to ring, she thanked her lucky stars as it went to voicemail.

She took a deep breath before she began, “Hey mom. It’s me. Amelia. Your daughter. Um, I’m just calling because there was this family that came into the hospital today. And the mother died and it was okay because she came back to life then, and I know that’s bizarre and it’s a really long story. But they reminded me a lot of us. Forgiveness is really hard, and I know I’ve asked it of you so many times that I probably don’t deserve it anymore. And I’m still pissed as hell at you. For the wedding. But I forgive you. Because I love you. You’re my mom, I’m gonna love you no matter what,” Amelia’s voice cracked with tears, “I just wanted to call and tell you that. Okay. Bye.”

She walked in the door and threw her keys into the bowl, fully expecting Owen to be asleep by now since she had clearly missed the opportunity for dirty married sex, but there he was sitting up waiting for her.

“Hey. I thought for sure you would have beaten me home today,” he said as he went to greet her by the door, and he could see something was bothering her. “What’s wrong?”

“Don’t ever die,” she said simply. “I mean, you know, I know you’re going to die, but just don’t die before me because I won’t be able to handle it,” she rambled.

“Okay. I’ll do my best.”

“Don’t make fun of me.”

“Sorry. Did you fix Meredith and Maggie?”

“Yes,” she said as she walked into their bedroom and began to strip her clothing off. Sometimes, Amelia just walked around their house completely nude. She said clothes are just so constricting, and he wasn’t complaining about it. He usually joined her, but not when she was possibly upset about something.

“And then I called my mother,” she said nonchalantly. “Don’t make a big deal about it because she didn’t even answer. And she probably won’t even listen to the voicemail.”

“She’ll listen to it. You’re her kid.”

“Yeah. I’ve lost too many people in my life, I don’t want to lose any more. Life is too short. She’s my mom, you know?”

“I do,” he said as he sat beside her on their bed and wrapped an arm behind her.

“Okay, I’m done with that. There’s been something I’ve been wanting to do all day.”

“Oh yeah? What?”

“You.”

Discrete

And the last fic requested by @hollywoodx4… I chose for this to take place in episode 11x16 when Owen and Amelia are making out in the on call room. Enjoy!

 3. Likewise, a fic where owen’s in the middle of surgery and expecting an important update from someone and his phone blings. And when he asks the nurse to read him the text all she can do is trip over her words in embarrassment because “I uh…I can’t-I can’t read a picture, Dr. Hunt….especially not this one.”
You decide whether they’re out as a couple or not 😂

Owen kissed Amelia frantically when his pager sounded. He kept peppering her with kisses as he apologized. Being the chief had its perk, but it also could be the biggest pain in the ass. Especially now that he was divorced. People thought they could page him whenever they wanted.

“We will continue this later,” he said as he lifted himself off of her and grabbed his lab coat up off the floor.

“We better,” he heard as he exited the room. He surely hoped so.

He was also waiting anxiously to hear back from Derek about a new project to headed up at Grey Sloan. He needed to really hash out the details with him, and with Derek’s crazy schedule in DC there was no telling when he’d be able to get a call or text in.

Owen scrubbed in and began to work on a patient from the recent accident when he heard his phone vibrate. One of the nurses picked it up to see who it was and the matter of importance.

“Dr. Hunt, it’s Dr. Shepherd."

"Oh great. Read me the message please?"

"Dr. Hunt. Are you busy at the moment?” He laughed at the absurdity. When was he not busy? But he told the nurse to text back that it was fine.

“I can’t wait to finish the project we started earlier,” the nurse read aloud, her voice laced with confusion, but Owen barely noticed.

“Tell him I’m also very excited about that project. When can we hash out all of the details?” A minute or so later, the phone vibrated again and Owen could hear the nurse mutter, “Oh,” before placing his phone down on a surgical tray.

“Oh what? What did he say?"

"It wasn’t Dr. Shepherd on the phone. I mean it was but it wasn’t,” she stuttered out.

“Derek, right?"

"No. The other Dr. Shepherd.” Owen gave her a crooked look, masked also with confusion and asked her to read the text. “No, Dr. Hunt I can’t read it. It’s…its…it makes me very uncomfortable."

"Could you bring the phone here then?” He asked. She picked up the phone and brought it over for his eyes only. The message read, ‘We can hash out the details right now. Meet me in the on call room on the third floor.’ And attached was a picture of Amelia in her bra and panties.

For a minute he was ogling her body, as he had never seen her in such a state of undress before, and he could feel himself drooling a little in his surgical mask.

“Dr. Hunt,” the nurse broke him from his reverie to focus on the task at hand. He whispered to her, “I expect you’ll be discreet."

"What’s the hospitals fraternization policy again?” She asked sarcastically, and he gave her a stern look before she amended her answer, “Yes sir. Absolutely discreet."

She couldn’t wait to tell all of her nurse friends about the chief and the Shepherdess.

Slip

This is the second fic requested by @hollywoodx4

2. A fic where they’re in the middle of surgery together and make some kid of slip to their relationship-or, you know, that filthy thing they did in that one on-call room the other day. Because Amelia’s the queen of dirty jokes but she’d be red in a second from letting that slip.
(Bonus points if Derek just so happens to be in that surgery too)

“I cannot believe this guy hit his head as he was sliding off his wife’s stripper pole,” Derek said as he looked around the guy’s brain.

“It’s not a stripper pole,” Amelia said defensively.

“I do not need to know how you know that Amy.”

Owen cleared his throat as he worked on some internal bleeding in the man’s abdomen, a sign that he wanted Amelia to change the subject.

She looked to him and shook her head no because she quite frankly loved to torment her brother.

“It’s important to keep things fresh in the bedroom, you know, big brother,” she pointed out.

“Thank your for your sisterly advice, but I don’t need it.”

“Really? I haven’t heard much going on lately, I just figured…”

“Okay, let’s get back to work,” Owen warned.

“Usually men go to extremes when the feel like they need to spice things up. You know…” She wiggled her eyebrows and Derek laughed at her.

“Really? Like to make up for a lack of size or something?” He asked her.

“Or something,” she smirked inside of her mask. “Hey, what’s the dirtiest thing you’ve done in an on call room?”

Both Derek and Owen began talking over each other, slightly embarrassed as to where this conversation was headed.

“Oh come on,” Amelia said, “everyone has done it in an on call room. Nothing to be ashamed of.”

“Been having lots of sex in on call rooms huh?” Derek asked. “You’ve been hiding a mystery man.”

“Wouldn’t you like to know,” she smirked. “The other day we did it with two other doctors sleeping in the room.”

“Amelia!” Owen exclaimed and Amelia’s eyes opened wide at the clear admission that it had been Owen she was with. “That’s so disrespectful,” he tried to cover up.

“Oh my God,” Derek muttered, then he laughed.

“What are you laughing about?” Amelia asked him.

“Meredith is going to kill you.”

Secretly Domestic

So @hollywoodx4 requested a list of fics and I’m going to accept that challenge. I hope you enjoy them thoroughly!!

1. A fic where Owen finds out, possibly by stumbling in to chaos being sorted, that Amelia is the reason Meredith’s house runs so smoothly. Because she’s secretly super domestic and really good at running a house full of kids and chaos.

Owen awoke to find his trailer in shambles. There were cabinet doors left open, he learned by hitting his head on majority of them, and clothes littered the floor. Normally he didn’t care about a few messes in the trailer, but when you live in such a confined space, you can’t let it get too out of control or you’ll go crazy.

He heard Amelia humming to herself in the shower and as he tripped over one of her shoes he cursed loudly.

“Are you okay?” She asked over the din of the running water.

“Yeah. Fine,” he muttered. “Just tripped over one of your shoes again,” he said and she could sense the disdain in his voice.

“I’m sorry. I was in such a hurry I didn’t …” He cut her off by snapping at her.

“You know you’re an adult, right? You’re fully capable of closing the cabinets and cleaning up after yourself so that you don’t attract mice or other critters into your home?”

She shut the water off silently and came out of the shower, a steely glare full of calmness on her face. He instantly regretted what he had said. Cristina was the biggest slob he had ever met, but for some reason he expected more of Amelia.

“I was running late. And I’m going to be even more late. Can we continue this conversation later?” She asked him.

“Meredith is right,” he said, for whatever reason he was feeling spiteful, looking for a reason to wound her, “you are a child.”

Amelia didn’t say anything, she simply dressed in a fury, slamming cabinets on her way out of the trailer.

Later that evening, Owen felt guilt eating at him for what he had done to her. He was so malicious and he didn’t have any idea why. But he knew he needed to apologize to her. He definitely wanted to continue what they had started, and that wouldn’t happen unless she forgave him for his massive screw up.

He knocked on the door to the sisters house, and Amelia answered with Ellis settled on her hip. She wiped hair out of her eyes and gave him a look of indifference.

“What are you doing here?” She asked, juggling Ellis in her arms while looking back into the house into the kitchen.

“I wanted to…” He was cut off by yelling from upstairs. He recognized Meredith’s shouts and asked if everything was okay between her and Maggie.

“She’s not yelling at Maggie. I don’t even know where Maggie is. Meredith came home and just locked herself in the bathroom. So the kids and I decided we were gonna make some waffles,” she said as she walked into the kitchen to check the waffle iron.

“Zola, Bailey, go wash your hands for dinner, please?” She requested and both kids were obedient.

“Smells delicious,” Owen remarked. She looked at him with a slight blush in her cheeks. “I’m sorry about this morning. I was an asshole,” he whispered the word to avoid the little ears hearing him.

“You were,” she agreed. “I work really hard Owen. I feel like I run this place majority of the time, and sometimes I want to not have to worry if I cleaned the kitchen or picked up my shoes.”

“That’s completely understandable,” he nodded. “You are surprisingly very domesticated.”

“Yeah, well it’s a newly acquired skill apparently. We all have to grow up at some point.”

magicalpostface asked:

Jealousy

“Hello Dr. Shepherd,” her six year old patient greeted her with a large grin. He was quite a charming little boy and she had become very fond of him.

“Hello Dylan. How are you feeling?” She asked as she began her exam.

“Dr. Shepherd, I have something to ask you.” The young boy got out of bed, took something out of the bedside table drawer and turned around. He got down on his knee and opened the small box that had a ring pop inside of it. “I love you, Dr. Shepherd. Will you marry me?”

“Aw,” she said aloud and her eyes even glistened a bit as she realized that Dylan may not live long enough to do this one day. She also didn’t have the heart to tell him she was already married. “Of course I will Dylan. But not until you’re 25.”

He gave her the ring pop and she gave him a short kiss on the cheek before she gave him orders to stay in bed and drink lots of chocolate milk.

Once in the hallway she ran into Owen with a sour look on his face.

“Hey,” she greeted.

He didn’t even smile at her and she wondered what had happened. “Are you okay?”

“Everything’s fine. I’ll see you at home.”

“Hey,” she pulled on his arm to stop him. “What happened?”

“You said yes.”

“What?” She asked flabbergasted.

“You said yes to him. That you’d married him.”

Amelia laughed out loud at the absurdity of this situation.

“Are you serious? Owen. Are you jealous of Dylan?”

“No,” he denied weakly.

“You are. You’re jealous of a six year old. I’m married to you, you buffoon.”

“You said yes.”

“Honey, you don’t have anything to be jealous about,” she leaned close and whispered into his ear before leading him into a nearby on-call room.

Anonymous asked:

Baseball cap

“Uncle Owen, when are we going to another baseball game?” Bailey asked him.

Bailey, now five years old was very close to his Uncle Owen. Since his mother hadn’t ever remarried, hadn’t even really dates, Bailey saw Owen as the father in his life. He taught him how to ride a bike and play soccer and baseball and they’d work on household projects together. Bailey treasured his time with his Uncle Owen. One of his favorite things to do was go to baseball games with him.

“Not until next year, buddy. It’s the off season.”

Disappointed, Bailey hung his head and walked off to the spare bedroom. Owen followed him there, grabbing one of his most prized possessions along the way.

“Hey buddy. Pretty bummed that baseball season is over, huh?”

“I thought there would be more games we could go to.”

“We will go to a game opening weekend, I promise. But until then, I have something for you.” He pulled out the baseball cap he had since his father had given it to him when he was about Bailey’s age.

Baileys eyes lit up when he saw the cap. “Was this yours Uncle Owen?”

“It used to be my dads and he gave it to me. And now I’m giving it to you. I hope you take good care of it.”

“I will Uncle Owen,” he said excitedly and put the cap on his head.

As Bailey ran out of the room, a pregnant Amelia walked into the room.
