The fourth set in the Pokémon Mezastar Gorgeous Star series was released on February 8, 2024. It consisted of 83 tags and was the eighteenth set overall.
Information
The Legendary Paradox Pokémon Koraidon and Miraidon were once again the focus of a Gorgeous Star set, this time in Terastallized states. The two Grade 6 Superstar Pokémon were among five tags in this set to support the Terastal mechanic, which also included a Grade 6 Arceus plus Grade 5 Star Pokémon Gengar and Dragonite. Pokémon supporting other powered-up mechanics included Grade 6 Solgaleo and Lunala, as well as a Grade 5 Gallade, which could summon Super Tag partners; Grade 6 Xerneas and Yveltal, plus a Grade 5 Kommo-o, which could use Z-Moves; a Grade 6 Melmetal, which could Gigantamax; a Grade 6 Zygarde, as well as Grade 5 Hydreigon, Magnezone, and Scolipede, which could all Dynamax; a Grade 6 Garchomp, which could use Double Move; Grade 5 Meganium, Typhlosion, and Feraligatr, which could use Chain Attacks; and a Grade 5 Steelix, which could Mega Evolve.
Four Paradox Pokémon received Pokémon Mezastar debuts in this set: Brute Bonnet, Flutter Mane, Iron Hands, and Iron Jugulis. Arceus, Garchomp, Flutter Mane, Hydreigon,
Meltan, Gengar, Dratini, Whirlipede, Steelix, and Mareanie could be encountered and obtained as Gorgeous tags. Three more Ultra Beasts could also be encountered and obtained from March 14, 2024: Buzzwole, Pheromosa, and Xurkitree. With their inclusion, all Ultra Beasts had been represented in Pokémon Mezastar.
A returning feature from the previous set was the chance for Terapagos to appear during Get in Battle! mode. The Tera Pokémon could shield one of the player's Pokémon during an opponent's attack and reduce any damage received. This feature was in place for the duration of the set.
Players who used a Memory tag at any time during the period of February 8 to April 10, 2024 would earn a Weekly Stamp—those using a Memory tag with the same profile in a subsequent week would earn another Weekly Stamp. The reward for reaching two stamps was a Mezastar logo T-shirt Dress-up Item. The four- and six-stamp rewards were a Superstar Sensor, which would identify the location of a Superstar Pokémon at the start of Get in Battle! mode. The five-stamp reward was a Garchomp Emblem, which granted the chance to add Garchomp to the player's Support Pokémon roster during Get in Battle! mode. Players with Memory tags could also obtain up to three new Partner Pokémon: Venipede, Budew, and Swinub, which could be evolved through to their final stages by accumulating Star Points. Two campaign periods were held during this set, during which players could earn double Star Points—the first was between February 22 March 6, 2024; the second was between April 4 and 17, 2024. Players using the Mezastar Club at any time during the duration of this set could also receive a digital Support Pokémon Ticket for a Krookodile and a Present Ticket to unlock a spring pattern top Dress-up Item. A limited Present Ticket for a set of Hinamatsuri accessory and costume Dress-up Items could be redeemed through the club between March 3 and 16, 2024 to coincide with the Japanese holiday.
The Trainer and Battle lineup for this set included two returning Trainer classes, Multiple Part-timer and Fledgling Trainer, plus two new Trainer classes in Waking Boy and Party Lover. Momoka made her third appearance in a row and featured as the set's Star Trainer. Players with a Mezastar Club account could redeem Battle Tickets for each opponent and unlock new customization options for their avatar. Between February 22 and March 30, 2024, players could challenge Star Trainers Kinika and Yūsuke in a Trainer Tag Battle. Those that managed to defeat the pair would each unlock formal footwear Dress-up Items for their avatar.[1]
Professor M, a persona sometimes adopted by Mezastar Navigator Masato in Mezastar TV episodes, could be challenged in the limited Gorgeous Battle! Arceus Challenge! Once Again! event, which was held on weekends and holidays between March 16 and 30, 2024 at participating stores.[2] The event was announced on March 1 in a Mezastar TV episode, which featured Gorgeous Professor M—another Masato persona who wore golden accessories, and a lab coat emblazoned with a gold "M".[3] The four Mezastar Navigators could also be challenged as Trainer Tag Battle opponents for a limited time as part of the ranked Challenge with Two People! VS Mezastar Navigator! campaign. Pairs that defeated the quartet in battle would unlock Mezastar tag sunglasses Dress-up Items for their avatars. Players with the top 100 scores following the end of the campaign also won a physical certificate. The campaign ran from March 24 until April 17, 2024.[4]
Between February 22 and April 17, 2024, players could challenge another Tournament through Memory tag mode. This event was named Mezastar Battle Tournament (Japanese: メザスタ バトルトーナメント) and featured seven Star Trainers from previous set's Trainer and Battle lineups: Hasasu, Shaolo, Ishuta, Terina, Sasura, Nagusa, and Atla. Opponents used the same Pokémon as per their original appearance and defeating one for the first time would unlock a new Support Pokémon Ticket. Players could also unlock a set of dresswear Dress-up Items with their first Tournament victory and winning an entire Tournament would earn players a Medal.[5]
