The Legend Revealed (Japanese: 明かされる伝説 The Legend Revealed) is the eight chapter of the Pokémon Horizon manga.
Synopsis
Akira and Mana are shocked that Tokio has said he will take them to the leader of Team Kings. Mana does not trust him, as he is member of Team Kings too.
Before Tokio can respond, a Team Kings Grunt with a Gumshoos finds them and calls it to attack them with Bite. Tokio's Type: Null steps in and sends the Gumshoos flying. Akira and the Grunt are both surprised at Tokio's actions. Tokio affirms that he is on the side of Akira and Mana, saying he owes them an apology for the other day, and they can trust him by his actions from now. A warning message from the Team Kings' tannoy sounds that Tokio has betrayed them and should be captured along with the group.
The Team Kings Grunts and their Pokémon run towards them. Rockruff evolves into Lycanroc in facing the Team Kings Grunts. Mana sends out her Decidueye to join Lycanroc, revealing her Rowlet evolved during the island challenge. The Grunts' Pokémon flinch as they are reluctant to attack, so Lycanroc, Decidueye, and Type: Null seize the initiative and take out three of the Pokémon with one strike each.
The Team Kings Grunts are dismayed at the actions of Tokio, whom they call Young Master Tokio which leaves Akira wondering who Tokio really is. Tokio reveals that he is, in fact, the son of the Team Kings leader. But Tokio says that he thinks world domination is stupid, the same as Akira and the group, and that he wants to stop his father's evil ambitions.
As their Pokémon continue to defeat those of Team Kings, Tokio admits that he has been waiting for Akira to become stronger so that they could take down his powerful father together. With a knowing glance, the group of Akira, Mana, and Tokio, and their Pokémon charge forward to stop the evil Team Kings together.
Further into the headquarters, Tokio says they are in a good position now, stating there is a cave below them. Akira then makes a joke which Mana and Tokio don't find funny, but with the Grunts close behind, Lycanroc and Type: Null stamp hard on the ground, breaking it, and sending the Team Kings Grunts falling into the underground cave.
Soon the group is running through another of the underground tunnels, which Mana remarks is full of weird machines. Tokio explains that the machines are based on the ancient science of Wamu Island, and that one of the machines is powered by Solgaleo's energy, that they are looking at a receptor that links up with Rockruff's red stone. If the receptor is destroyed, that will stop Team Kings plan for using Rockruff's red stone to create an Ultra Wormhole, and so stop their plans for world domination.
Akira notices Rockruff is having a strange reaction to the machine, and tells him to hurry and destroy it. At that moment, three Poké Balls are thrown and a voice tells Rockruff to stop. A Primarina, a Decidueye, and an Incineroar emerge from the Balls and strike Rockruff down, protecting the machine.
Akira and Mana can't believe it, but the voice from a shadowy figure continues, greeting Rockruff like they have met before and that Rockruff has never liked the machine.
Tokio acknowledges the shadowy figure as his father, who then says he has been betrayed by Tokio. Akira realises who this is. Meja, the boss of Team Kings, introduces himself and welcomes them to the Team Kings headquarters.
Akira confronts Meja, saying it's Meja who wants Rockruff because of his ambitions of world domination. Meja insists that Akira could never understand, that it is a fine ambition for someone who is a descendant of the King. Akira and Mana are shocked and confused, as Meja says Rockruff might understand, and that it might have recovered its memory by now. Akira asks Rockruff if he knows Meja from before, and Rockruff looks tense.
Tokio begins to tell Akira the legend of Wamu Island, for the sake of Rockruff–that a thousand years ago a dictatorial King ruled the island who enslaved all humans and Pokémon alike. The King's ambition was to control the entire world, and he needed only Solgaleo's power to make his rule absolute. But a Hero of the island and his Rockruff stood up to the King. With the King needing only the red stone to open the wormhole and capture Solgaleo, the hero entrusted the Stone to Rockruff, saying they must battle to the end, and Rockruff must protect the Stone at all costs. Together, the two sought to protect Alola, where humans and Pokémon lived in harmony. The Hero and Rockruff fought against the King and his Kommo-o, but the resulting battle, sinking most of the Island, killed the Hero, and the Rockruff was turned to stone.
Now in the modern day, Meja had attempted to use the Rockruff and the red stone to accomplish the Ancient King's goal, with Rockruff ending up washed up on the beach, where he was found by Professor Kukui.
Akira and Mana realise now that the extraordinary Rockruff has been through so much. Meja exclaims that as a descendant of the King, the red stone and its power belongs to him, and that Akira should leave Rockruff and go.
Akira says he will go–much to the disbelief of Mana and Rockruff–but only after he battles Meja and teaches him a lesson, that humans and Pokémon are meant to live together in peace and share strong bonds with each other, generating awesome power.
Akira, Mana, and Tokio ready themselves to fight Meja together. Rockruff evolves into Lycanroc, and is joined by Mana's Decidueye and Tokio's Type: Null. Meja smirks, and sends his Primarina, Decidueye, and Incineroar in to battle them, to test how strong the group's bond really is.
