Route description
Being an early game route, it is simplistic in nature as it has a sole path clearly outlined. Also, it is where the player has their first NPC trainer battles of the game. From the southern end of the route, the path goes north for a short while, before sharply turning to the west, where the player enters the first patch of grass on the route. It carries on going west, until, shortly afterwards, there is another patch of grass. Almost immediately, the route turns to the north. Soon, it turns to the east, where Youngster Tristan is found. Afterwards, the path splits, but the player can't proceed far to the north, as it is blocked by a ledge.
Lucas/Dawn will block access past the first patch of grass until the player has received the Parcel from the rival's mother. Once that is accomplished, Lucas/Dawn will show the player how to catch a Pokémon.
Continuing onwards, the path turns to the south before shortly resuming its way to the east, where Lass Natalie stands. Immediately, there is another large patch of grass, and the path, again, turns to the north. After continuing for a short while, the path turns to the west, where Youngster Logan is. Afterwards, there is a fork in the road, where the player can either go to Jubilife City in the north, or towards another small patch of grass to the west.

Pokémon the Series
Route 202 first appeared in Two Degrees of Separation!, where Dawn was shown traversing through it on her way to Jubilife City. Along the way, she tried to catch both a Buneary and a Burmy, but failed both times due to her inexperience. She also subsequently encountered Ash's Pikachu, initially mistaking him as a wild Pokémon until her failure to capture him proved her wrong, and had her first confrontation with Team Rocket, managing to stop them from stealing Pikachu. Upon learning who Pikachu's Trainer was from Professor Rowan, Dawn headed out to cross paths with him. Meanwhile, Ash reunited with Brock and ended up catching himself a Starly to help him look for Pikachu.
In When Pokémon Worlds Collide!, while looking for Pikachu, Ash encountered a Trainer named Paul, who would later become his main rival in Sinnoh. Subsequently, Ash and Brock found Dawn and Pikachu in the middle of a confrontation against one of Team Rocket's mechas. After the mecha had been destroyed, Ash was properly reunited with Pikachu. Making a call to Professor Rowan at a phone booth, Ash was informed that a package from his mother was waiting for him at Sandgem Town.
In Memories are Made of Bliss!, Team Rocket was walking along Route 202 when Team Rocket's Delibird delivered them a message, telling them to contact the Team Rocket HQ immediately. Their call was answered by Matori, Giovanni's secretary, who told them to report back to the HQ at once for an important mission, much to the trio's delight.
