Origin/Name Origin

It seems to be based on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amargasaurus as that was a sauropod that had spines running down its neck like Amarusu has. Also the name Amarus just seems to be a contraction of Amaragasaurus. Zeb (talk) 09:00, 12 September 2013 (UTC)

Completely agree with that. In Japanese, it becomes even more evident, as it's written as アマルガサウルス (AMARUgasauruSU).KurowaSan (talk) 03:15, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
Now we now it's from the Sail Fossil, Amargasaurus should be under Origin too. In the link above the Amargasaurus was thought to have sails or spines - GF seemed to have gone with sails. Also the English name, Amaura, seems to contain aurora (look at the colours on the sails, it learns Aurora Beam and is an Ice-type).Zeb (talk) 13:58, 13 September 2013 (UTC)

Korean name for Amaura

Its Korean name is 아마루스 Amaruseu.

  • I'll get the name explanation in a bit. -- Nick15 (talk) 17:18, 16 September 2013 (UTC)
  • Yeah, if it isn't already obvious, it's just based on the Japanese name. -- Nick15 (talk) 17:52, 16 September 2013 (UTC)

Hidden Ability

Is it worth mentioning in trivia that Amaura and Aurorus are/were (since it's out soon) the last non-legendary pokemon to have it's Hidden Ability released? Myzou (talk) 17:14, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

Possible name dirivation

Does anyone think it's at all possible that Amaura's name is partially derived from "mi amor," Spanish for "my love"?

Her name's always sounded familiar to me, I think that's why.- unsigned comment from Qwertyo76 (talkcontribs)

That has nothing to do with the actual Pokémon. It's just a coincidence.--ForceFire 02:13, 18 June 2015 (UTC)

Evolving during the evening?

It is said that Amaura evolves during the night, and the Time page indicates night starts at 9:00 PM. However, my Amaura just evolved at 8:05 PM (Pokémon X, device time). Therefore, shouldn't we mention that Amaura can evolve during the evening as well? Y2110 (talk) 18:22, 30 May 2021 (UTC)

But it doesn't evolve during the evening. Evening is from 6pm-9pm in XY, and Amaura won't evolve until 8pm. There's crossover, but it's primarily during the window listed here and not strictly based on the phase of day. Kai * the Arc Toraph 12:27, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
Oh OK, it makes sense now. Y2110 (talk) 21:40, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
