Admissions Events and Visits
At the Wisconsin School of Business, we want you to feel confident about your decision to pursue an academic career. We’re available to help you understand the admissions process, funding options, placement results, and the nature of the student experience in our PhD program in business.
You are welcome to stop by for an informal visit to campus. To discuss the program in detail, get answers to your questions, and explore whether the Wisconsin PhD in business is a good fit for you, we suggest you meet with a program representative at an upcoming recruiting event.
We also encourage you to contact any of our current PhD students to hear their perspectives on the program.
Connect on Campus
Formal campus visits are arranged by invitation from a specific academic department. Selective invitations are typically extended after the application is complete and has been reviewed by the departmental admissions committee.
Prospective PhD students who are interested in making an informal visit to campus are welcome to stop by the Wisconsin School of Business. Please contact our assistant director of PhD and research programs in advance if you wish to speak with a PhD Program Office representative while you are in Madison. Wisconsin PhD at DocNet Events
DocNet is a consortium of over 130 member universities—including UW–Madison—that are committed to promoting doctoral education in business. At a DocNet Forum, you can learn about doctoral admission criteria, financial aid, and careers in business academia. These forums typically feature a panel discussion with faculty, students, and/or PhD program staff to help you explore a career in academia and prepare for the admissions process. Each forum also includes a recruiting fair, with numerous DocNet members in attendance.
Access specific dates and times for these sessions.

Wisconsin PhD at The PhD Project
The Wisconsin School of Business is represented at The PhD Project Annual Conference, a two-day conference dedicated to increasing the diversity of business school faculty by recruiting underrepresented minorities to business PhD programs. UW–Madison is a founding member of this organization, which brings together universities, doctoral students, corporate sponsors, supporting organizations, and The PhD Project alumni faculty members.
African-Americans, Hispanic-Americans, and Native Americans who are interested in pursuing a PhD in business are encouraged to explore the resources available from The PhD Project. Wisconsin PhD representatives will be on hand at the next annual conference, scheduled for mid-March in Chicago.
