Operation Blessing Helps Couple Find Warmth in Rebuilt Home

When hurricane Helene hit North Carolina, hundreds of thousands were displaced due to flooding and storm damage. Lee and Shirley groom were forced to move into an old mobile home left to lee 6 years ago by his mother.

“Our home was located across the road from this place. And we stood on the porch and watched it wash away.  Our vehicles were sitting in the yard, up here, and they got washed away.” Lee recalled.

Turns out, Lee had never been able to afford to winterize or fix his mom’s place—and that meant living there in winter has been a challenge.

"We'll need the insulation put under the house and some flooring on the floor… Oh, it's real important. Ain’t got insulation, the water will freeze, and you're in trouble then.”

Thanks to you, Operation Blessing arrived to help the grooms prepare their home for winter...

"We pulled the insulation in and put it up here in between the joist of the home. And, once the insulation is up there, should keep the house nice and warm for the winter.” Gabe, an Operation Blessing team member noted.

The team worked hard installing new fiberglass insulation which is both durable and water resistant. Then we installed new flooring inside their home.

“Things like your floor and your installation are really important, especially whenever it comes to wintertime. The warmer the floors, the warmer their feet, and we got it all done.” Another interjected.

Emotionally, Lee iterates “It’s a relief that the house will stay warmer. It's great, there's a lot of good people in this world, I didn't think there's that many left. But there are.”

And they said they’re grateful that Operation Blessing arrived right on time.

“It gave me peace. Both of us. Made me stronger. I just thank everybody. The Good Lord sent everybody here, right to us.”

This Terrible Itch Won’t Go Away!

Patty recalls, “My face would start itching. It had this crazy itching. It would be all over my face, on my chin, on my cheeks, on my forehead.”

It wasn’t a typical itch Patty Accoe began experiencing in February 2023. This was deep, burning and relentless. As if something was crawling under her skin.

Patty shares, “When I went outside the cold made me itch worse. Just so miserable and nothing seemed to help it.”

Patty went to two different dermatologists, but even after thorough examinations, doctors told her it was a simple case of very dry skin and prescribed her medicated creams typically used for poison ivy and eczema.

Patty says, “No it did not help my itching, it may have eased it for a little bit, but it would come back and be a very, very deep itch that I just couldn’t satisfy.”

Over the next 1 ½ years, the itching continued to plague Patty, disrupting her daily routines and even her sleep. Countless times Patty turned to prayer, standing firm on God’s promises for healing.

Patty shares, “I’ve always believed in speaking health over my body. And so, I started talking to my face and skin, stop this. I said, Father, I thank you that my skin is healed. Jesus. You healed my skin.”

On August 9th 2024, Patty tuned in to watch the 700 Club as she did every day. That’s when she heard host Terry Meeuwsen share a specific word of knowledge that caught her attention.

Terry Meeuwsen says, “Yes, someone else, you have a crazy itching of your skin. I mean it’s your whole body. It’s almost made you psychotic from it. I don’t know what it is, an allergy to something. God’s healing that for you right now. You’re just going to feel that slowly dissipate and go away. You’re being set free in Jesus’ name.”

Patty shares, “And I just raised my hand up and said, I take that from my face. And it stopped instantly. There was no itching at all. It was just miraculous.”

Today, Patty enjoys life with no interruptions to the things she loves to do most. She encourages others to trust God's timing, knowing that His desire is for us to be whole and well.

Patty says, “Everything matters to God. The word says He healed them all. Get that little bit of faith and just believe, and don’t doubt in your heart, believe His word and it will come to pass. Because He promised His word would come to pass.”

Hope after Wife’s Confession of Affair

“I don't think I had a real hug for three years,” John Beeson recalled. “I don't think I had a real kiss. Like, I don't...like the way she spoke to me was like, ‘you're my roommate now.’”

Before John and Angel married, Angel knew exactly what kind of man she wanted to spend her life with, a pastor. She says, “I knew that if I found a man who would love Jesus, he would know how to love me. Like somehow along the line, like I just had it in my core that if he loved God, he could love me.”

The two married and started a family while he was in seminary. John became a pastor and gladly took on every role church leadership assigned him. He said, “And I was just so eager to finally do what I felt like I had been made to do, what I've been called to do. My identity really had become rooted in that place of being a pastor. Things were great in my marriage. I'd invested a lot there already. We can push pause there, right? I can now try to tend this new wife, right? This new partner that I had. One of those wives that I had was much more demanding than the other. Let's guess who it was, right? It was the church and so Angel, our kids really kind of got the leftovers.”

“The one who was supposed to be my protector and the one who brought me comfort and, joy, right? And security just, I just felt was leaving me,” shared Angel. “If this is what ministry is, God, like I want nothing to do with it because this is too much for me. And that was the moment then that I just, I would say is when I just shut the door on Jesus and opened a beautiful French door to the enemy into my heart.”

“I knew the day that she went dark spiritually, she went ice cold toward God,” John recalled. “She went ice cold toward me.” Angel confirmed, “I just said, 'okay, I'm done. Like, I'm gonna do me when I wanna do me.'"

Angel turned her back on God and pulled away from John emotionally. She found the attention she longed for at the gym. She began having an affair with her personal trainer. She remembered, “Not only do I feel bad for what I have done, like I now hate myself. I am completely worthless. I'm, that there's no value in here. Like I am the biggest hypocrite. What's the point? Why try? And so I just gave myself to whoever wanted me.”

Overwhelmed with guilt, Angel eventually confessed the affair to John, but her heart remained hard. John kept the affair private. He admitted, “If I share this, if I force this to the table, what happens then to who I am, a pastor, right? Does that just all go away? And so that definitely fed into my fears and my cowardice.”

It wasn’t long before Angel had another affair. The spiritual turmoil she lived with consumed her life. She said, “I can't keep living this lie because I am dying inside and this is not who You created me to be. And so I am just praying for brokenness.”

While on a Christian retreat, in the middle of worship she began to shake uncontrollably. Angel said, “And John looked at me and he was like, ‘Are you okay?’ And I said, ‘No, I'm not okay. I have something I have to confess.’ And I just confessed at that point that I had been having affair.”

John remembered, “I just felt sick. And yet at the same time, I felt hopeful for the first time, like as Angel shared then and continued to share throughout that night, I was like, my wife is finally back. Like those dead eyes were finally alive. What held me there was actually the spirit of God granting in me deep compassion and love for my wife. Like a renewed love, a restored love. In some ways, I would say kind of a clearer, Godlier love for her than I'd ever experienced before.”

Together they began a two-year process of reconciliation and forgiveness with counseling: confessing every sin and misplaced priority. Angel said, “This was the prayer of my heart, 'If there's anything in the dark, Lord, bring it to the light. No matter the cost, bring it to the light. I want nothing, nothing to get in the way of You getting glory in my life and of me stepping in Your will. Have mercy on me. Don't forsake me, don't leave me, don't leave us. Restore this. You can do it. It's in your power. I'm giving you my all Jesus. I don't wanna die rejecting you.'”

With their marriage restored and their priorities in order, John continues to pastor with Angel by his side, thankful for God’s love and forgiveness. “We celebrated 23 years together yesterday,” John said. “I know what a treasure I have in Angel. I know what a treasure I have and I would give up pastoring in a heartbeat for her if that's what I needed to do.”

“Jesus sings and dances over me and He delights in me, and my sin, my guilt, my shame is covered by the blood of Christ,” said Angel. “And so, you have freedom to think whatever you want about me. But I'm not gonna let that define me because Jesus does. And He's happy with me and that's good enough for me.”

John said, “Yes, I am ambitious for God's kingdom. I'm ambitious for His church. I'm ambitious for...for the things of the Lord. But that ambition has to be greatest for my wife. She's the first, most important thing I've been given to steward and then my kids and then the church.”

Superbook Brings the Bible to Life for Marko

In the picturesque landscapes of Ukraine, an eight-year-old boy named Marko is known for his love of math and his passion for soccer. Having just finished the 2nd grade at his local school, Marko enjoys spending time with his peers on the soccer field. Since he was four years old, he has also been a dedicated helper during church worship services, showing a natural inclination towards serving his community.

Despite his active involvement in church, Marko was not always enthusiastic about reading books or participating in his family’s Bible study. This changed when he discovered Superbook, an animated series that brings Bible stories to life in a captivating and engaging way. Superbook sparked Marko's interest in the Bible, transforming his approach to learning about God’s Word.

Watching episodes of Superbook as part of the Superbook Club quickly became one of Marko’s favorite pastimes. The vivid animations and relatable characters drew him in, making the stories of the Bible accessible and enjoyable. This new way of learning encouraged Marko to delve deeper into the scriptures. He began to discuss the episodes with his parents, asking insightful questions and seeking to understand more about the lessons he was learning.

One of the most significant changes in Marko’s life was his newfound willingness to engage in the family Bible study. The stories he watched in episodes of Superbook resonated with him, making the Bible come alive in a way that traditional reading had not. This shift in his attitude was a source of joy for his family, who saw him grow in his faith and understanding of God’s love.

Marko’s curiosity extended beyond his home. He was not shy about asking the priest questions about the topics that intrigued him. This eagerness to learn and understand more about his faith demonstrates the profound impact Superbook had on his spiritual growth. The series helped Marko connect with the Word of God and experience Jesus’ love in a personal and meaningful way.

Marko’s story is a testament to the global reach and impact of CBN Animation’s Superbook. The engaging Bible stories have not only educated him but also inspired Marko to live out his faith more fully, fostering his spiritual development and deepening his relationship with God.
