TIgers Celebrate 2023-24 Season With Golden Awards

The Colorado College Athletics Department staff, coaches and student-athletes gathered in Ed Robson Arena Tuesday night for the 2024 Golden Awards, celebrating the Tigers' 2023-24 athletic accomplishments.
 
Senior Emma Phillips, President of the Colorado College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, opened the evening with a welcome to her fellow student-athletes.
 
Vice President and Director of Athletics Lesley Irvine also shared some thoughts with the student-athletes before the awards were handed out.
 
The award winners were voted on by the student-athletes and athletics department staff:
 
Best Game – The hockey team defeating No. 4-ranked Denver, 4-3, at Robson Arena on Senior Night. That win secured home ice for the first round of the NCHC playoffs.

Best Upset – The men's basketball team defeating No. 10-ranked Trinity University, 71-70, in the SCAC semifinals, sending the Tigers to their first SCAC title game appearance since 2016.
 
Best Moment – The men's soccer team defeating Ohio Northern in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division III Championships thanks to an overtime goal by junior Teddy Libby.
 
Best Performance (Individual) – Junior Zoe Tomlinson of the women's basketball team tied a 31-year program record with 26 rebounds against Schreiner. During that game, she became the fifth player in program history to grab 800 career rebounds.
 
Community Service Award – Senior Emma Fowkes from the women's track and field team. She is involved with Concrete Couch, Creek Clean Up, Parents Night Out and Tessa.
 
Best Team of the Year – The hockey team had its most wins in one season since 2011 and tied for third in the NCHC, the best conference finish since joining the league. The Tigers cracked the Top 10 for the first time since 2012.
 
Coaching Staff of the Year – The hockey staff of head coach Krois Mayotte, associate head coach Peter Mannino, assistant coaches John Lidgett and Andrew Oglivie and director of hockey operations Emily West. Mayotte was named NCHC Coach of the Year and was a finalist for the National Coach .
 
Newcomer of the Year – Freshman Kala Komanduri from the women's tennis team achieved the program's highest regional ranking since 1985. She played all 16 of her singles matches at the No. 1 position.
 
Sportsmanship Award – Junior Devin Philio (Men's Basketball)
 
Jerry Carle Weight Room Award (Female) – Sophomore Libby Ochs (Volleyball)
 
Jerry Carle Weight Room Award (Male) – Sophomore Kaidan Mbereko (Hockey)
 
Diversity and Inclusion Award – Sophomore Kennedy Andrews (Men's Basketball)
 
Tiger Award (Best Tiger Spirit) – Junior Adrian Price (Men's Basketball)
 
Mentorship Award – Senior Isabella Lipacis (Volleyball)
 
Senior Male Student-Athlete of the Year – Senior James Settles (Men's Cross Country/Track & Field)
 
Senior Female Student-Athlete of the Year – Senior Kendall Accetta (Women's Cross Country/Track & Field)
 
Service & Collaboration Award – Mark Hatch and Pedro de Araujo
 
Chris M. Quon Award (Established by the SAAC in 2010 following Quon's untimely death after graduating from CC in 2009) – Senior Trey Crawford (Men's Basketball)
