The Alchi monastery complex houses six temples, namely the ‘Du khang (Tibetan for assembly hall), Sumtsek (gSum brtsegs), the Manjuśri Lhakhang. (temple dedicated to Bodhisattva Manjuśri ), Lotsawa Lhakhang (temple dedicated to a triad of translators prominent during the Second Diffusion of Buddhism), the Lhakhang Soma (New temple) and the Kanjur Lhakhang (temple housing scriptures). Several kinds of chortens are also seen in the compound, including two pairs of entrance chortens (large gateway-like chortens with a passage to walk through under them) and one large chorten with four

cupolas, known as the ‘Great Stupa’
