Epìdosis asks to clean Category:Cultural heritage monuments in Italy, and I think other categories with Template:Categorise also need the operation. For example, File:12 Stringed Standard Acoustic Guitar.jpg do not need Category:Guitars when it belongs to Category:Taylor Guitars. Kanashimi (talk) 22:28, 23 January 2019 (UTC)
Discussion
- Comment I fixed the heading. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 22:35, 23 January 2019 (UTC)
- Please make a test run, preferably for different categories. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 15:31, 24 January 2019 (UTC)
- For the mentioned guitars example, I'm not sure if such cleanup should be done by a bot. There may be cases where this kind of overcategorization is intentional and the removal will be controversial. I think this can be approved only for well discussed single cases. --Krd 18:26, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
- If it is intentional, perhaps we should not transclude {{Categorise}}? Since the template says
As many pictures and media files as possible should be moved into appropriate subcategories.
--Kanashimi (talk) 09:02, 31 January 2019 (UTC)- I'm not sure if we should or should not, and also not sure if it is intentional or not, but I'm saying it could be different from case to case or from part of the category tree to another. This could be an argument to do this review manually and not by a bot. --Krd 09:29, 31 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Krd and Epìdosis: Prehaps we can identify the cases and exclude them, so we can let bot deal with the rest of the situations? --Kanashimi (talk) 06:32, 4 February 2019 (UTC)
- …or we could identify uncontroversial cases by prior individual discussion and let the bot work on those only. --Krd 06:52, 4 February 2019 (UTC)
- Category:Cultural heritage monuments in Italy is certainly uncontroversial, the other categories I can't say. Thank you very much, --Epìdosis 08:03, 4 February 2019 (UTC)
- It seems no further comments. I will try to code. If the bot encounter a special situation, please let me know, I will exclude them. --Kanashimi (talk) 09:17, 11 February 2019 (UTC)
