A similar image of this sculpture, File:DesignAtelierzimmermann.jpg was deleted in December because there was no permission fro the artist. This still needs a license from Paul Zimmermann (1939 - ) using the procedure at Commons:OTRS. .     Jim . . . . (Jameslwoodward) (talk to me) 14:40, 17 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

For the record. The ticket contains permission from his son for the photograph. Not for the scuplture but I'm trying to arrange that as well. Natuur12 (talk) 16:56, 17 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

We have a new uploader here, who is, I am told, the son of the subject. He apparently doesn't understand copyright well, and I suspect that this is not actually own work, as claimed. There's a dialogue on my talk page which may answer the question -- see User_talk:Jameslwoodward#Paul Zimmermann (Blacksmith). Although I think the problem will be resolved, I'm posting this to ensure that we keep track of it. .     Jim . . . . (Jameslwoodward) (talk to me) 14:48, 17 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Duplicate of File:Forest Route 13.svg.

If deleted, please create a redirect from this name to File:Forest Route 13.svg to preserve functionality in {{PD-USGov-MUTCD}} (all other instances of example images for the template are redirects and not actual files). AdmrBoltz 18:02, 17 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This file is the official diagram from the MUTCD and includes the official sign number. It should stay.  Keep Fry1989 eh? 19:18, 17 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
 Delete duplicated file. --Rschen7754 03:34, 18 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It's not that simple, this isn't just a duplicate, this is the official model from the MUTCD for the sign M1-7 which can vary depending on the route number and all that. If you delete this, you mess up with the catalogue of MUTCD signs that I've worked very hard on. It needs to stay. Fry1989 eh? 03:40, 18 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
And a redirect will take care of that issue. Imzadi 1979  04:02, 18 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Did you completely miss my point? I've worked tirelessly on creating a complete catalogue of all the MUTCD signs, and when you delete files like this for an arbitrary reason, you screw that up! Fry1989 eh? 04:07, 18 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Delete duplicated file, per nom, Rschen. Imzadi 1979  04:02, 18 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I have removed the route number and it is no longer a duplicate. It has to stay. Fry1989 eh? 04:08, 18 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I have reverted that. If you want to duplicate the graphics of the MUTCD, the number needs to remain. However, if this file name redirects to its duplicate, your catalog will not be screwed up. File:Forest Route 13.svg will appear there in its place. Imzadi 1979  04:19, 18 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You completely miss the point, or don't even get it at all. If this is deleted, I will have it undeleted or upload it again. This is the official diagram, using the official font and shade of brown, I want it in my catalogue and it is separate from the others. I am having difficulty articulating to you why this is so important, but this file needs to stay and I do not appreciate you calling my revision in bad faith. Fry1989 eh? 04:35, 18 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The other graphic is also created with the official shade of brown using the official typeface based on the official diagram. Ergo, they are the same. If the duplication is deleted and redirected, the graphic will still appear in your catalog. Case closed. Imzadi 1979  04:47, 18 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Keep While I see both sides of the argument, deleting this file will do more harm than good. –Fredddie 04:49, 18 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Delete Duplicate. I would also suggest deleting any other MUTCD-code marker duplicates. Dough4872 04:54, 18 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Just for the record, Fry1989, please stop reverting these edits. This is a discussion of deletion, you need to wait on the outcome first before making any changes with a consensus. Please stop reverting and really, be civil please. Mitch32(Never support those who think in the box) 05:01, 18 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I am withdrawing this DR. If Fry1989 (talk · contribs) wants a duplicate, that's fine. I just changed {{PD-USGov-MUTCD}} to call the other image. --AdmrBoltz 06:54, 18 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This is partially my fault because I'm not articulating properly why it is so important for this file to stay. In order to have a complete catalogue of the signs prescribed by the MUTCD, we need a template file for every sign number. We need a file for M1-7 just as much as we need one for all the others. If you delete this and do a redirect, then you mess up the catalogue and the record of all the sign numbers. It has to stay and this is the best I can explain it. Fry1989 eh? 19:12, 18 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It was probably never registered for copyright in the US but there is no indication that this is out of copyright in its country of origin Slovakia (70 years pma). De728631 (talk) 09:33, 17 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Súbor Horskí vodcovia - Vysoké Tatry.jpg bol zoskenovaný z knižky autorov Ivan Houdek, Ivan Bohuš: Osudy Vysokých Tatier, str. 133, , ktorú vydal Šport, slovenské telovýchovné vydavateľstvo v roku 1976

File Mountain guides - High Tatry.jpg was scanned from books authors Houdek Ivan, Ivan Bohus: History of the High Tatras, p. 133, issued by the Sport and physical education Slovak publishing house in 1976

Yes but we need to know the original photographer to determine if this image is still copyrighted or not. Under Slovakian law, images remain copyrighted for 70 years after the death of the author. So can you please check if there is any credit for this specific image in the book? De728631 (talk) 15:39, 17 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This image is copyrighted not. Author is unknown. Is a reproduction of a picture is a museum Highs Tatras national park , Tatranska Lomnica, Slovakia and was used in the book authors Houdek Ivan, Ivan Bohus: History of the High Tatras, p. 133, issued by the Sport and physical education Slovak publishing house in 1976. It is also on the interet: http://www.obnova.sk/clanok/vysoke-tatry-si-pripomenu-140-rokov-uhorskeho-karpatskeho-spolku

I see. But even if the author was anonymous, the photo would have been protected for 70 years afters its creation, i.e until the end of 2002 (see {{Anonymous-EU}}). Unfortunately this made it unfree in 1996 and so it became copyrighted retroactively in the United States as part of the URAA agreements. So even when it is now in the public domain in the EU, we can't use it on Commons which requires free images under US law. De728631 (talk) 17:06, 20 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Out of scope, created by somebody with a COI, who has been blocked. Article at EN.wiki has been removed. Jcb (talk) 18:03, 17 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. The original uploader did have a COI and was quite enthusiastic about pushing it at :en, employing a variety of socks to do it, until it became clear that he couldn't control precisely what was being said about him and his organization. Since then he has mounted an equally persistent campaign, again through a variety of socks, to whitewash the encyclopedia of the references he worked so hard to create, including requesting deletion of images here. (Amusingly the socks who urge deletion here fail to disclose their connection, and then proceed to base their complaints on either the fact that the uploader has been banned, or that the uploader didn't have permission to upload - in other words, "delete this file because I am banned and I lied".) Anyhow much of this is laid out in the archive to Wikipedia:Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Lawline. I do not claim to know what is appropriate here, i.e. whether images and galleries can be deleted just because the uploader changes his mind, but the sooner we're rid of this troublemaker, the better. Unclear copyright status. Image of president of Argentina and licensed with {{CC-AR-Presidency-old}} = "This image is taken from the Presidency of the Nation of Argentina web site www.presidencia.gov.ar ..." But sourced with http://www.24demarzo.gov.ar/listas/lista_f249.htm which isn´t presidencia.gov.ar. Via 24demarzo.gov.ar-archive I or II no CC or whatever free license visible. Obs.: very high wiki use. Unclear copyright status. Argentine work (image of Leopoldo Galtieri, president of Argentina 1981-1982), published/created (or sourced with - as indicated) 1982 (taken from "diario Clarín"/en:Clarín (Argentine newspaper)). Originally licensed with {{PD-AR-Photo}} and authored with "Archivo Gráfico de Clarín (Argentina)" (failing COM:URAA --> in US copyrighted till the end of 2076) the file was "relicensed" and "reauthored" by uploader during discussion of Commons:Deletion requests/PD-AR-Photo de la Guerra de Malvinas 2 with {{CC-AR-Presidency-old}} (without indicating a link) + "Carlos Bugge, fotógrafo de la Casa de Gobierno." = [4] + [5]. The DR-notice was removed a few days later.

{{CC-AR-Presidency-old}} is licensed with "This file is taken from the Presidency of the Nation of Argentina web site" (...).

I can confirm that "Carlos Bugge" was indeed sometime (1982 too?) one of the "fotógrafo oficial de Presidencia"but this article is related to the last days of en:Fernando de la Rúa, president - 20 years later - from 1999-2001 even if I couldn´t confirm the authorship. Maybe es:Víctor Bugge is meant. But: I found a cropped version of this image via http://www.presidencia.gob.ar/nuestro-pais/galeria-de-presidentes/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1294. The problem: The nominated file was uploaded on 12.12.2010. At this time presidencia.gob.ar was licensed with CC BY-NC-SA 2.5 ES --> see bottom of archive from 13.12.2010. Additional: From where the uploader got the complete frame? From presidencia.gob.ar most likely not. And: It might be that presidencia.gob.ar had taken later the file from Commons to illustrate the gallery of presidents because the highy archived site presidencia.gob.ar got "galeria-de-presidentes" in his actual form archived only since 07.2011. The "old" gallery is archived until 05.2011archive of casarosada.gov.ar - apparently a mirror, but here I was not able to retrieve the related archive concerning Leopoldo Galtieri.

There is no freedom of panorama in Germany for works of art photographed from the inside of a building. Common rules (70 years after the dead of the artist) applies. Anton Wendling died in 1965 => still copyrighted until 2035.

Kathisma (talk) 03:11, 17 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This is not really art. It is an interpretation of old coat of arms.--Symposiarch (talk) 10:06, 17 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Das sind Bischofswappen, für die sollte das gleiche gelten wie für alle anderen kirchlichen Wappen. Ein Fensterbild davon ist noch keine Neuschaffung davon!
This are Coat of arms from the Bishop of Mainz.
Gruß kandschwar (talk) 15:23, 17 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This is precisely the point. You must remember that the representation of a CoA is a blazon interpreted in image. The blazon (things represented in the CoA) is free of rights, though its usage can be legally restricted. But the interpretation in image is a work of art in the sense of intellectual property. In Germany, all graphic works are considered as works of art (UrhG §2.1.4) and protected by copyright, excepted in some very precise cases. In the current matter, thee of these exceptions could have been raised :
  • Freedom of Panorama : excepted that it applies only to works permanently exposed outside builings and observable from public space. (UrhG §59)
  • Emblems (seals/CoA/flags), as works created by the administration : excepted that it applies only to emblems of public bodies (Körperschaft des öffentlichen Rechts), not of private persons (and bishops are private persons, not public institutions) (UrhG §5)
  • Originality threshold: could be invoked only for simple lettering or elementary geometry, not for an elaborated stained glass.
As none of these restrictions can be applied, the copyright protection remains. Kathisma (talk) 22:23, 17 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted per Kathisma as COM:FOP#Germany does not apply and as all these stained glass works are eligible for copyright. Even if the blazons are free due to their age, their new artistic emblazonments are not, see COM:COA. We would need the permission of the heirs of the artist Anton Wendling to keep or restore them. --AFBorchert (talk) 23:11, 24 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

As [8] shows, the artist for this image is known, it is one F. (or Fr.) Ronfort. Further research shows this is a German painter from Stuttgart by the name of Friedrich Ronfort, who lived 1868–1949 [9]. So, this image is still protected until 2020.

Delete Delaware now uses the elongated circle set. I would also check to see if Kentucky, Mississippi, or New Jersey have any shield categories like this as they can likely go too. Dough4872 04:55, 18 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The uploader claims to have personally created all of these images. That seems tremendously unlikely given the highly varying quality, skill and age of the photos; the low resolution; the lack of metadata; and the uploader's long record of uploading copyright violations with patently false authorship claims.

No evidence uploader is the copyright holder of the images. Most of these can be found on the web.

Highly unlikely authorship claims based on the low resolution, missing or inconsistent metadata, the nature of the photos, and the uploader's history.

Contains copyrighted content (Prezi, including logo and OS X) JurgenNL (talk) 10:11, 17 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Somehow I missed the intro part when viewing the video (the logo in the corner though is so small it should be de minimis (and you can barely even see it is the Prezi logo due to low resolution)). Anyhow, delete the file ASAP. Ainali (talk) 16:25, 17 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Comment The logo in the corner is very small and unrelated to the film. The software parts are only seen for one about 2 seconds because the person who created the file was a bit clumsy. I think that it is possible to keep the file under 20 a § URL and that these copyrighted things only affect the quality of the film but not the copyright status of it. --Stefan4 (talk) 16:32, 17 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
