Categories
[edit]We almost certainly already have categories for most of these buildings. Please use them. This makes the {{Listed building England}} (or equivalent) and {{On Wikidata}} templates unnecessary. If there isn't a category, learn how to create one. Rodhullandemu (talk) 20:30, 5 September 2019 (UTC)
- In Tuscany we have a very active task force for that, sometimes users tell me in advance which category to create. if there is any mess around, it won't be from us.--Alexmar983 (talk) 17:11, 8 September 2019 (UTC)
- Gosh, I looked in the categories of Armenia. They are third at the international level but they collect all files in a generic category like we did years ago... it's a lot fo work.--Alexmar983 (talk) 15:49, 27 September 2019 (UTC)
- Zackly so. I've already got a lot of work on from UK Heritage Week, so I don't welcome the extra load when people haven't been properly told what to do with their pictures (I could tell them). Rodhullandemu (talk) 21:04, 29 September 2019 (UTC)

Stats
[edit]At least two users have been pointing out to me in the last two days that they cannot access any updated stats for this edition. I have no time to check this issue in the detail, but it is possible that the lack of a competition might harm the participation of some users or countries as a whole. It's a healthy competition, in the end... so please let me know if this page is going to be updated. Anyone to ping? Thank you.--Alexmar983 (talk) 17:16, 8 September 2019 (UTC)
- Is this tool the one we use now ?--Alexmar983 (talk) 17:32, 8 September 2019 (UTC)
- It is indeed! ~Kevin Payravi (talk) 16:32, 11 September 2019 (UTC)
What category/template triggers a submission?
[edit]When I go to the main website, it doesn't seem to provide instructions on how to submit photos to WLM without going through the customized upload process. What is the category or template that must be in place for a photo to be considered submitted? {{Wiki Loves Monuments 2019}}? One of the "Images from Wiki Loves Monuments 2019..." categories, the "unreviewed" category, or the "uploaded via campaign..." category? — Rhododendrites talk | 20:39, 22 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Rhododendrites: That's the correct template, as long as you specify the country code (
{{Wiki Loves Monuments 2019|us}}
). That will take care of properly categorizing the image for the US contest. Since I see you've uploaded US photos, we also allow for state-level sorting (e.g. replaceus
withus-ny
); this isn't required but is appreciated. ~Kevin Payravi (talk) 03:44, 23 September 2019 (UTC)- @Kevin Payravi: Thanks. So just to be clear, in this edit, I didn't need to manually add any of the 3 categories? Those would be added after? — Rhododendrites talk | 03:47, 23 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Rhododendrites: Yep, bare minimum, all you need is that template.
- Category:Images from Wiki Loves Monuments 2019 in New York is nice to have, but is also automatically added if you use
us-ny
instead of justus
. - Category:Uploaded via Campaign:wlm-us-other is just a meta-category to track upload campaign usage; you'd never add this manually.
- Category:Wiki Loves Monuments 2019 in the United States unreviewed is there to provide a stream of files to be reviewed by experienced editors...but we don't currently un-mark the vast majority of files in this category, and if you're manually uploading you probably know what you're doing already, so no need to add it. ~Kevin Payravi (talk) 04:18, 23 September 2019 (UTC)
- I thought I remembered some other competition that needed a campaign to qualify. Glad this one doesn't. Thanks! — Rhododendrites talk | 04:21, 23 September 2019 (UTC)
- Ah yea, great point to bring up, for anyone lurking: other countries may have different categorization rules and you'll want to check with each national competition individually. ~Kevin Payravi (talk) 04:56, 23 September 2019 (UTC)

Move deadline at least 1 or 2 days to compensate multiple upload issues
[edit]On Sept. 06th Commons was down for most of the day hours in Europe, so a day of upload was completely lost for many users. Here we discussed the issue in it.wiki and again some reported similar problems on Sept. 09th. Today, Sept. 23rd, the upload wizard is down again for 4.00 pm, resulting that many upload have to be postponed.
In order to compensate all these misfunction I am asking to extend the end of the contest submissions at least to Oct. 01st, or Oct. 02nd. I know User:Alexmar983 has already discussed this possibility with some other international organizers of local sections of the contest (like Brazil's) and received positive feedback about the proposal to extend deadline.
Thanks for supporting. User:Romaine, User:Marta Arosio (WMIT) --Sailko (talk) 16:56, 23 September 2019 (UTC)
- Also Portugal. It was an informal discussion and I let it go since everything seemed back to normal but now we have issues again. if I can represent my area, Tuscany, this is really damaging us. Yesterday I explained the upload to two new photographers and sent a mail to four photographers' association. Now they will try to upload something, fail and that's it, probably give up. we need few more days to (partially) compensate this situation.--Alexmar983 (talk) 17:00, 23 September 2019 (UTC)
Spam
[edit]Can we please cut down on the banner spam from this event? I've dismissed it numerous times, but the spam keeps coming back. Sakkura (talk) 20:32, 29 September 2019 (UTC)
Images from Wiki Loves Monuments 2019 in the United States missing state categorization
[edit]The Category:Images from Wiki Loves Monuments 2019 in the United States missing state categorization still has many files that aren't in state-specific categories, despite the fact that the Wiki Loves Monuments 2019 is long over. Is anybody willing to sort them out, or should we wait for a bot to move them? Come to think of it, this same question should also apply to Category:Images from Wiki Loves Monuments 2019? ----DanTD (talk) 04:01, 28 March 2020 (UTC)
