Object history | One of three roundels by Giovanni Demio commissioned in 1556 by the Procurators of Saint Mark de supra for the ceiling of the Reading Room of the Biblioteca Marciana. All of the roundels (21) were removed by the Austrians at the end of the second period of Austrian occupation (1815–1866) and transported to Vienna. The roundels were restituted as per the Treaty of Vienna of 3 October 1866 between Italy and Austria. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
