Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Error in Name

[edit]

I write this in English, so other users of Commons can read it, too.

If you look in the category Silver Reed Colour PenGraph EB50 you will find that every picture has an error in the name: "Silber" instead of "Silver". Only the film is named properly. --Duschgeldrache2 (talk) 22:47, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki Loves Earth 2016

[edit]

Hallo Elya,

De-adminship warning

This talk page in other languages:

Dear Elya, I am writing to inform you that you are in danger of losing your adminship on Commons because of inactivity.

If you want to keep your adminship, you need both to sign at Commons:Administrators/Inactivity section/Aug-Sep 2016 within 30 days of today's date, and also to make at least five further admin actions in the following six months. Anyone who does not do so will automatically lose administrator rights.

You can read the de-admin policy at Commons:Administrators/De-adminship.

I found some more and uploaded them, but under different names, if you want to restore the history, we can rename one, but I don't think it's necessary. Thanks for the reminder, I uploaded a couple of Belgian images recently but forgot this one. --Elya (talk) 17:17, 11 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

De-adminship

[edit]

Hi Elya,
I'm really, really sorry to be the bearer of bad news, however I am obliged to let you know that following your prolonged period of inactivity as an administrator here on Commons and under criterion #3 of our admin inactivity policy, I requested the removal of your admin privileges on this project, and the request has now been fulfilled by a Wikimedia steward through Meta.

This is particularly painful to me due to the work that we've done together in the past and the simple fact that I personally like you so much :-( As is our custom, I added you to the "autopatrolled" user group instead, but please do let me know if you would like to be given additional user rights. I notice you have moved a few files over the past six months, so if you think you could use the filemover right, just say so. Thank you for you service to this community, and I hope you will continue as a regular member and perhaps will re-apply for adminship again in the future, time permitting. Lots of love, odder (talk) 01:36, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki Loves Earth 2017

[edit]

Hallo Elya,

Your VFC installation method is deprecated

[edit]

Hello Elya, we are aware that using the old installation method of VFC (via common.js, which you are using) may not work reliably anymore and can break other scripts as well. A detailed explanation can be found here. Important: To prevent problems please remove the old VFC installation code from your common.js and instead enable the VFC gadget in your preferences. Protesters gather outside Cologne Cathedral with a sign reading "No to violence against women"

Hello Elya/Elke,

I'm just wondering: on what date was that photo of yours actually taken? Not uploaded to Wikimedia (probably 9 Jan 2016) but taken, at a demonstration in Cologne? --Corriebertus (talk) 16:20, 12 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Corriebertus, it was actually taken on this day, as the EXIF data shows. Sometimes I forget switching the camera time back from daylight saving time, but as this in the middle of winter, it should be the correct time – 11:53 h. It was some days after the New Year's Eve sexual assaults in Cologne and this flashmob was taking action against the sexism and also against the racism that arose after the sexual assaults from a certain political direction. Regards, --Elya (talk) 18:04, 12 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Which surprises me. Because article en:2015–16 New Year's Eve sexual assaults in Germany#Local population mentions only one ((mostly) women's) march in Cologne over those assaults, taking place on 5 January. So you're saying they demonstrated there again on 9 January? --Corriebertus (talk) 14:49, 13 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Corriebertus Yes, Elya is right. I have taken photos too on this demonstration. See Category:Flashmob gegen Männergewalt, Köln for all images taken by Elya and me. Furthermore on January 9th another rally rally "Cologne against right-wing" and January 16th rally "Syrians against sexism". Probaly there were more demonstrations but at least me was not able to document them :-( Raymond 15:13, 13 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Important message for file movers

[edit]

A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.

Possible acceptable uses of this ability:

  • To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
  • To perform file name swaps.
  • When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)

Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.

The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning. Questions regarding this right should be directed to administrators. --Majora (talk) 21:35, 7 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Martin Sg. (talk) 12:22, 24 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Elya (talk) 14:47, 24 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Der Link zur List funktioniert nicht. Welche Kirche meinst du? --Chris06 (talk) 16:29, 24 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, sorry, dann so: Shortlink.

--Chris06 (talk) 12:44, 28 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Permission to Use Your Image

[edit]

Hello Elya,

I am an academic author and am interested in printing your photograph of the Germanwings 9525 memorial within my textbook. This book is used by students to learn more about the aviation industry, and it references a variety of accidents as case studies. The Germanwings accident is discussed around the importance to support pilot mental health. I see it's listed on Wikimedia Commons as a CC 4.0, but wanted to ask you if you would grant permission for it to be printed within the book. Would you please email me your response at suzanne.kearns@uwaterloo.ca? With sincere thanks.

House in Curemonte

[edit]

Hallo,

Thank for you participation to Wiki Loves Monuments France 2020.

Could I ask you to double check this picture: File:Maison historique à Curemonte.jpg? I think this is not the right building and as such that this photo is not eligible from WLM France. See other pictures on Category:Maison à Curemonte and on the official database. It is indeed "Fondation du patrimoine" but this foundation is a private organisation independant from the gouvernemental "monument historique" system (some building are both but this is more of an exception).

Cheers, VIGNERON (talk) 11:54, 19 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello VIGNERON, wow, you are quick with checking ;-) I was aware that it was not in the list and I did not put it into the wrong category, however I liked the photo and thought it could be a monument because of the label – even if not in Mérimée. If not, no problem, I remove it from the contest. --Elya (talk) 12:08, 19 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Köln-Seeberg

[edit]

Liebe Grüße--Elya (talk) 16:20, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Würde so aussehen.

Jugendzentrum in Seeberg meint.

Ford42 (talk) 13:53, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Pecorino di Grotta

[edit]

Excuse for my English. I've noticed you have uploaded serveral photos. Here as "pecorino di grotta", but in the category "pecorino di fossa". There are two slighty different types of cheese. In the "grotta" (grotto, cavern) the seasoning is with oxygen, instead in the "fossa" (holes, but also barrels), the fermentation is anaerobic. Se also it:Formaggio di fossa. So, are photos of "pecorino di fossa" or "pecorino di grotta"? Thanks --Skyfall (talk) 11:39, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Skyfall, what a question 9 years after upload ;-) I checked my original images from the session, but unfortunately I did not take a picture of the label, if there was one. That said, I did not put it in the fossa category, so I would assume my file name is correct. Elya (talk) 16:47, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It Is more probable. To be sure, do you remember what town/village did you taken these pictures? The cheese of fossa (the anaerobic one) is rarer and more expensive than cheese of grotta, it's made only in Sogliano al Rubicone, Borghi, Roncofreddo, Sant'Agata Feltria, Mondaino, Talamello, Predappio. In the last town there are some old sulfur mines nowadays used also for the cheese of grotta, but you can find it in all region of Umbria, in the lower part of Romagna, and upper part of Marche. --Skyfall (talk) 23:00, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well … it was Cologne, Germany. However, I will meet my fellow photo session folks tonight, and maybe one of them remembers or we can check the receipt. Elya (talk) 05:28, 25 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki Loves Monuments 2024 - Deutschland

[edit]

Hallo Elya,

Upload your photos via the new Upload-Map
Upload your photos for the special price
