Thanks for updating file:comparison_satellite_navigation_orbits.svg. Unfortunately, that caused text labels to become misaligned and the multilingual descriptions were removed. The path definitions and styles also become harder to read. I'm unclear what the improvement was; the previous version was also already considered valid by Commons:Commons_SVG_Checker. Can you please point out any deficiency in the previous version, and I'll fix it manually?

Thanks,

Inaccurate paleoart.jpg

The point of the file is to show inaccurate paleoart, that is why it was created in the first place. The image was updated to reflect this. So do not edit war over it for spurious reasons. The original file you keep reverting to is here[1], and since it is much less inaccurate than the image currently used, it is counter productive to revert it, and I'll have to temporarily protect the image from editing if you continue. FunkMonk (talk) 12:55, 25 September 2020 (UTC)

@FunkMonk: see Commons:Overwriting existing files. /Leonel Sohns 13:24, 25 September 2020 (UTC)
I'm not sure you understand what the purpose of that file is. I was part in developing the template that image was created for. An old dinosaur image was used for the template which was later replaced by a more appropriate image. The purpose of the image was to show the most inaccurate dinosaur image we could find, and to be clear at thumbnail size as well, and the new version is better at that. The original base image is still on Commons.[2] FunkMonk (talk) 13:46, 25 September 2020 (UTC)

That's a completely different image, such files are Commons:Overwriting existing files violations. Commons:Overwriting existing files is considered an official guideline on Wikimedia Commons. Upload the different image with new name please! /Leonel Sohns 15:52, 25 September 2020 (UTC)

After considering both your views and reading Commons:Overwriting existing files, may I suggest using the
Files marked as updateable (eg using the {{Current}} template) may be updated if appropriate
exemption by marking the file as updateable to the most appropriate image currently available, and keeping both versions without the hand icon as separate files? Cheers, cmɢʟee ⋅τaʟκ 16:08, 25 September 2020 (UTC)
But that's the thing, the underlying images[3][4] are already separate files. They were never intended to be replaced. The sole purpose of the modified image[5] in question is to be used in a single template, so there is no reason at all for keeping both versions with the stop sign on. It is a graphic for use in a single, specific template, that is the take home message here. I was part of getting the template made in the first place, the first image was pretty much just a placeholder made by the creator of the template. The overwriting existing files guideline does not apply in this case, because the base images are still available, and there is absolutely no conceivable reason why both versions of the stop sign graphic should be kept. FunkMonk (talk) 17:19, 25 September 2020 (UTC)
Agreed. So how about marking it {{current}} and linking it in the description to those two files and any others that may improve it in the future? Thanks for the good work, btw, cmɢʟee ⋅τaʟκ 17:28, 25 September 2020 (UTC)
Right now, the two files used are linked under source. FunkMonk (talk) 19:10, 25 September 2020 (UTC)

‘Modern forms’

Please, never upload ‘modern forms’ of cyrillic letters again. You do it incorrectly: letters are larger than they have been intended to be, and the base you use has been originally created for digraphs (it is wider than the normal one). Also I was planning to overwrite the older files (not yours), changing the font from ‘Universalia’ to ‘Times New Roman’ (I already did it with some of Latin letters), but then your files will become just incorrect duplicates of them. So, please, don’t do that. — Person or Persons Unknown (talk)

Thanks for uploading File:New view of the tree of life.webp. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:New view of the tree of life.webp]]) and the above demanded information in your request.

Please do not remove the superseded category

Hi Leonel Sohns. There is a reason we move files to the superseded category, and that is because we have a better version on Commons. No need for a good and an inferior version of the same item. So please do not remove the category and reinstate the files in the original categories, where they are no longer needed. Examples: File:Branden i Kiøbenhavn d. 5. Juny 1795. Nr. 2.png and File:Peter Vilhelm Ilsted (Danish artist, 1861-1933) Girls at Window.jpg. Unless you have compelling reasons for these edits, they should be reverted. Pay attention to copyright
File:Gabbie Hanna Honestly Encore Sample.wav has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.

The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.)

Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Autopatrol given

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 00:22, 13 November 2020 (UTC)

Edit Summary

When editing a page on Commons there is a small field labeled "Edit Summary" or "Summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the Edit Summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the Edit Summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's name in the Edit Summary field - please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you.  — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 15:48, 19 November 2020 (UTC)

Warning sign
This media was probably deleted.
Thanks for uploading File:Paintingprocessprocreate.mpg.

Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Paintingprocessprocreate.mpg]]) and the above demanded information in your request.

Mass Template modification

Hi, are you sure that your {{subst:lle}} modification is useful? It makes the templates less general and imply that we will need to replace the explicit url in each one of them when necessary instead of changing just one template. Ruthven (msg) 10:08, 14 December 2020 (UTC)

Fixed invalid XML.

@Leonel Sohns: I saw you fixed several invalid XML, most of them can be fixed using a bot, how do you detect them?  — Johannes Kalliauer - Talk | Contributions 21:41, 14 December 2020 (UTC)
