File tagging File:מיכאל כורש.jpeg
[edit]This media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:מיכאל כורש.jpeg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you. |

[edit]Hello. I’ll work on that map as soon as I have some time for it. I’ll try to find first a source with more detailed boundaries because the ones in File:Morocco Regions 2015 numbered.svg don’t look to be very precise. Sting (talk) 19:19, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
- @Sting: Yay, thank you. Here is a source you can download from in svg--Mikey641 (talk) 19:22, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you for the link, but I wasn’t able to find anything else than the international boundaries in it. Looking in OSM’s site I didn’t either find the administrative boundaries.
- I found free GIS data but they aren’t ready-to-use for our needs, so I’ll have to cross them with other references, which will need more work and take more time, but it will be fine. Sting (talk) 17:23, 27 October 2016 (UTC)
- @Sting: , I'm gonna explain how to use the tool. In the sidebar look for morocco. Click the little arrow next to it. Then just check (☑️) all of the names of the subdivisions. Then, on the bottom, choose svg and then download, it worked for me.--Mikey641 (talk) 19:05, 27 October 2016 (UTC)
- Lol! That was an arrow?!? Very tiny indeed! Lol. Got them. Thanks! Sting (talk) 21:37, 27 October 2016 (UTC)

@AFBorchert: I don't understand why this file should be deleted. I guess it has something to do with "Freedom of panorama" but how is a painting different from a building for example? A building is the artwork of an architect, and a painting is the artwork of a painter. How are they different?--Mikey641 (talk) 20:07, 5 February 2017 (UTC)
- Hi Mikey641, firstly both cases appear to be copyright violations as the photos have been published elsewhere (see here and here). Secondly, both photos depict artwork by Sharon Poliakine which is still copyrighted. {{FoP-Israel}} does not apply as this is a temporary exhibition. And it would need to be clarified whether interiors (like that of a museum) count as public places in the corresponding case law. You need a permission from both, the photographer and the artist, to get these files undeleted. This permission must be forwarded and handled by our support team. Regards, AFBorchert (talk) 20:25, 5 February 2017 (UTC)
- @AFBorchert: Thank you for the explaination, I now understand the FoP conditions in israel. Anyway, in the link you gave me I saw

- Oops, I did not notice the source link refering to Wikimedia! Given that the photograph was uploaded just a few days ago, I did not expect to see it already used as a source image. Sorry! But the problem with the missing freedom of panorama remains. You would need a permission by the artist Sharon Poliakine. Feel free to ask her, sometimes artists are interested to see their works more widely noticed and preserved. But make sure that the artist consents to a publication under a free license which allows commercial reuse. And if there is a positive response, forward it to our support team. Regards, AFBorchert (talk) 20:39, 5 February 2017 (UTC)
- It is fine. I understood my mistake in transfaring this image and I will not do it again. I just wanted to say that it wasn't copied from the internet.--Mikey641 (talk) 20:41, 5 February 2017 (UTC)
- The file moved from he.wiki in a matter of helping me, in a good faith. But Mikey moved the Original upload log so nobody know it was primarily uploaded to he.wiki. The FoP might be ok if it's "work of applied art" (I think it's a permanent exhibition) but we have to check thos issues before moving to Commons. -- Geagea (talk) 20:52, 5 February 2017 (UTC)
- These pictures appear to be from the exhibition Eight Measures of Drawing from 2012 in the Ashdod Art Museum. This does not look like a permanent exhibition, see here and here (right column, 7th row). --AFBorchert (talk) 21:49, 5 February 2017 (UTC)

[edit]Mikey641, You are not OTRS agent. Please do not add OTRS permission to files, You already promis not to do so her. Keep adding OTRS permission may lead to your block, take it to your consideration. -- Geagea (talk) 05:26, 5 April 2017 (UTC)

Reminder: Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2016 is open!
[edit]You are receiving this message because you voted in R1 of the 2016 Picture of the Year contest.
Dear Mikey641,
Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2016 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eleventh edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2016) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1475 candidate images. There are 58 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top #1 and #2 from each sub-category.
In the final round, you may vote for just one or maximal three image to become the Picture of the Year.
Round 2 will end on 20 April 2017, 23:59:59 UTC.
Thanks,
--Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee 08:41, 16 April 2017 (UTC)

Golden age of Jewish culture in Spain has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category. In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you! |

Requests
[edit]Shalom Mikey. I have noticed you created many locator maps, so I have big favour to ask you. Could you create maps with all the countries in the world? So far there are over 100 articles about bilateral relations (https://lt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kategorija:Lietuvos_diplomatiniai_santykiai) between Lithuania and other countries created in Lithuanian, Arabic and other languages but less than 50 unique maps in Category:Bilateral_maps_of_Lithuania to illustrate them. Some map-missing countries include Cambodia, El Salvador, Slovakia, Slovenia, Nigeria, Niger, Paraguay, Costa Rica, Jordan, Montenegro, South Africa, Thailand, Mongolia and Vietnam. By the end of this year there are going to be articles about bilateral relations between Lithuania and 192 UN member states, as well as Palestine, Hong Kong and Macao. While I understand this task requires considerable efforts, I wonder how many of such maps you could create. It is not urgent. In return I could translate some articles that you would like me to write in Lithuanian Wikipedia. Kind regards. --Viskonsas (talk) 09:43, 2 July 2022 (UTC)

File tagging File:Shimrit.orr.jpg
[edit]This media was probably deleted.

Thanks for uploading File:Shimrit.orr.jpg.
The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Shimrit.orr.jpg]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

Question
[edit]Hi, I have a question, what tools and what app do you use when creating maps for wiki? And is there some wiki guide line, manual or something? I've tried to find on my own but I couldn't and all of this isn't clear for me. If you could explain it to me I would be greatful! Chears! — Antoni12345 (talk) 16:21, 16 November 2023 (UTC)
