Image Tagging Image:Cabbage_barrel_washing.jpg
[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:Cabbage_barrel_washing.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|cc-by-sa-2.5}} to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Church of Holy Trinity
[edit]Hello Nikola,
Regarding Image:Gornji Milanovac Holy Trinity church.jpg, I find your photo a beautiful shot, and it is a pity that the technical quality is not up to the levels people have agreed for QI.
- Overexposure: first I thought it would only affect the right clock face, but inspecting the intensity histogram , and the blue channel histogramm, one sees that the sky is causing significant clipping (gimp is a good and free program that allows you to look at histograms). It happens with quite a few digital cameras, and if the camera allows it, set to underexposure, usually half a stop to one stop is about what is needed.
- Washed out: along lines with significant contrast I notice sharpening artifacts, quite some camera manufacturers think that is necessary to produce a visually pleasing output while in reality it spoils the image. Look out for a bright line where the sky touches the building. And also looking at the stonework I have the feeling that there is no detail on the stones visible. I cannot fully exclude that this is reality, but it looks more like some faint structure has either been compressed away in the JPEG encoding, or that the camera applied some kind of noise filter before saving the photo. Each stone is a homogenous color blob, and that is not what my experience of reality is.
Hope your camera is not too much annoyed with this assessment. The camera manufacturer should be. -- Klaus with K 13:27, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

Vitaceae.

SVG translate tool
[edit]Hello Nikola,
I noticed about 8 months ago your SVG translator tool, and I included it 2 months ago into the widely used template {{Translation possible}}. This make your SVG translator highly vissible.
Also, if you can, some upgrade may be welcome, and relatively-easy to done if you contact Luxo to get some codes. As you can see here, I already contacted Luxo to encourage the merging of his tool (FXderivate) and your tool (SVG translator). These 2 tools seems to me, a long-time wikigraphist, the 2 most helpful Commons-based tools available.
Your SVG translator especially need :
- Automatic upload: be able to upload itself the SVG to commons (Luxo have a script for this);
- Memory: keep memory of the translations ... (should be easy, no ?)
- Correction: ...provide a function "correct this SVG", allowing to quickly correct a word in a SVG (this task is frequently need). Which need...
- User rights: ...to allow fast minor corrections by trusted users only (should be hard);
And, if possible :
- Style: to get a more professional looking (you can copy the style of Luxo's tool, to get a common looking)
- Score: count the number of files translated using your tool.
I open this suggestions can help to improve your tool an ease users' life. Regards, Yug (talk) 13:03, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hello, I answered to you on my talk page Yug (talk) 20:25, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

- Hi Nikola,
- thanks for this great tool! Please go on and I hope, that it will be included as a standard Commons feature one day (in the nearer future)! Oh, by the way: There was a very interesting talk at this year's SVGOpen, perhaps you're interested: Translating SVG with XLIFF and Open Standards. --Manuel (Diskussion) 07:46, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
Another suggestion, that I think should be quite easy to implement. I have modified some maps with the basis of Image:Locator map of municipalities in Nordland, Norway.svg. Here I have put the id to be the Municipality numbers of Norway, while the label is the name of the municipality. From this I have colored different maps acording to regional concils, Police districts and more. it would be great to have an ability in the tool to change color based on either the id or the label. (that is, where it's now written translation in the tool, you get an option to put in an RGBA-code). Would make it easier to change maps for different purposes.
if the Commons:Project Mapmaking Wiki Standards find some common standards, it would also be great if the common colors come in a drop down menu. Røed (talk) 03:53, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

Serbian translations needed
[edit]Hi! I contact you as you speak English and Serbian.
Jastrow and I are working on autotranslating {{Meta information museum}}, the meta-template we use for many museums, like {{Information Louvre}}. Could you please help us find Serbian translations for every tag name:
* artist/maker * description * dimensions * credit line * accession number * location * source/photographer * references * other versions
"Credit line" is mainly about the mode of acquisition: what collection does it come from? Did it join the collections by gift, purchase, on loan, etc.?
Thanks for any help. Bibi Saint-Pol (sprechen) 10:34, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit]I have reverted your edit. You reverted my edit, which made the image exactly the same as two other files on commons, which are File:Serbia_logo.png and File:Serbia_stub.svg. Your edit resulted in having basically three of the same files. What is the point of that? I originally uploaded "File:Serbia stub.PNG" on 8 October 2008 as an alternative to the others and to have it without Kosovo, which is clearly stated in the file description. Please do not revert it again otherwise I will have to notify an admin. Regards IJA (talk) 11:55, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
Hello, the reason I changed "Collections" to "Collection" is that when the template is filled in with both Photograph number and Collection ID, it reads ... "This is photograph No. ABC 123 from the Imperial War Museum Collection 1111-2222" ... you will se that "Collections" in this case is grammatically incorrect. While I admit this is a pretty minor issue, to me it looks unprofessional for Wikipedia to display grammatical errors. Regards, Rod. Rcbutcher (talk) 04:16, 12 January 2010 (UTC)

File:Littoridina gaudichaudii.png has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. Hello, if this file was made by Pilsbry and published in Princetown in the USA and in Stuttgart in Gemrnay, then the file is public domain in the USA only and it can be in English wikipedia only (I have uploaded it to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Littoridina_gaudichaudii_2.png ) and not in Commons. But if Pilsbry simply copied this image from Souleyet L. F. A. (1852). Voyage autour du Monde exécuté pendant les années 1836 et 1837 sur la corvette La Bonite, zoologie, II. page 565, plate 31, figure 31-33.; then this image is public domain everywhere. But I have not found the plate by Souleyet where it could be. Could you help with this please? --Snek01 (talk) 22:39, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Belgrade 2010-10-10 Kneza Mihaila.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). SVG translate
[edit]Hello Nikola, Long time no see,
I noticed that you are almost not active anymore, this recently closing your SVG translate tool. As a wikigraphist, I look SVG translate as a fundamental tool which need strong support, and further development. While I understand someone being in wikibreak, that's quite sad and troubling for graphists. Also, I going to ask user:Luxo, or an other active programmer (user:Leyo) to copy your code to his account, and if possible to improve it. That will be more secure. If you have collected any data : number of translation, etc, please keep them for us ! Your tool is great, I want to make it know : ) Yug (talk) 07:45, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

Revert
[edit]Zamolio bih te da ne revertuješ mapu "Location map of Sandzak within Serbia and Montenegro.png". Hvala. PANONIAN (talk) 18:35, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
Aman, čoveče, pogledaj ova dva fajla:
- https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Sandzak01.png
- https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Location_map_of_Sandzak_within_Serbia_and_Montenegro.png
PANONIAN (talk) 13:05, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
- Uostalom, pogledaj i moj komentar na strani za razgovor dotične mape: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File_talk:Location_map_of_Sandzak_within_Serbia_and_Montenegro.png PANONIAN (talk) 13:07, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
- Ti si mapu "Location_map_of_Sandzak_within_Serbia_and_Montenegro.png" revertovao na verziju koja je identična fajlu "Sandzak01.png", a duplikati fajlova se brišu sa ostave. Međutim, ostavimo to brisanje na stranu, ako verzija te mape bez Kosova ne postoji negde onda će Nikswerdhond ponovo ubaciti tu svoju verziju preko originalne mape "Sandzak01.png", a ja hoću da izbegnem novi rat izmena oko tog fajla. PANONIAN (talk) 18:29, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
PANONIAN (talk) 18:30, 3 December 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for staying mellow
[edit]Hi, I would like to thank you for raising a recent issue on Administrators' noticeboard and staying mellow while it has been under discussion. I hope you can see that the community takes complaints of this sort seriously. I would expect that a suitable resolution should work itself out shortly that maintains this project as neutral in terms of supplying media of educational value to all re-users. Images of twilights and other parts of the day go under nature, not "photographs". For other examples, see these:
...and more.
The "photographs" categories are for images grouped by things like what kind of photograph they are (such as aerial, etc.), not by what is in the photograph. See the difference? --Auntof6 (talk) 07:00, 16 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi. Please stop this nonsense to correct in a wrong way this category ! A Roman Triens had a value of 1/3 of an As = 4 onces. This is the reason that on the money are 4 dots ( oooo ). So the face value is 4 and not 1/3 ! Because the system was on 12 so a Triens value is 4 onces; a Quadrans value is 3 onces. Thank you ! --DenghiùComm (talk) 20:54, 22 May 2019 (UTC)
