Roseola vs measles
Hi! We are waiting for our same day appointment with the doctor, but am doing internet "research" and thought id get your opinions. My son the last week or so has been extra cranky/irritable. He was pretty congested with a runny nose exactly a week ago. On his one year check up (the 6th) the doctor also said he had an ear infection so he has been on amoxicillin. The last 2 or 3 days he has had a low grade fever, so we have been giving him small doses of Tylenol too which makes him seem more comfortable. Today he woke up with this rash all over his face and chest and arms. Does anyone know the biggest differences between roseola vs measles vs rubella? We are having a huge outbreak of measles in my area due to unvaccinated kids so I am beyond nervous.
edited for spelling errors due to using my phone** also sorry photos added in comments

- There is a measles outbreak near me right now too :(
I've read recently in the articles that talk about it that one of the symptoms of measles is spots in the mouth.
Also, it's a good idea to call the doc office/hospital before you bring LO in, if you suspect measles. Good luck & I hope your LO feels better soon.Advertisement | page continues below - annejo177 Original PosterPosted 03-16-14

I've …I read that too, and so far I don't see any spots so that's a good sign! THanks, and I didn't even think of that I just told them I am bringing him in for a rash so I will do.
- jefergusonInactivePosted 03-16-14Roseola usually comes after a high fever I think. Has he had his MMR vaccine recently? My ydd had a small rash on her trunk and legs a few weeks afterwards. No personal experience with either measles or roseola, hope you get some answers!

With roseola, I think usually by the time the rash appears the ill feeling and fever are disappearing. With our son when the rash hit, he was feeling better. Sorry, I don't know anything about rubela or measles.
