- El Keuper és un conjunt de fàcies sedimentàries d'origen continental dipositats entre el Ladinià i el Retià (Triàsic superior),depositats per sobre de les fàcies Muschelkalk i sota les del Lias, formats per argiles, evaporites i algun nivell de gres.Aquestes fàcies afloren en gran part d'Europa. El terme procedeix d'un dialecte fràncic i significa «lutita trencadissa», tot i que sovint s'explica com una derivació del nom de la localitat alemanya homònima. (ca)
- Der Keuper ist die oberste der drei lithostratigraphischen Gruppen der Germanischen Trias. Diese Dreiteilung, die namensgebend für das chronostratigraphische System Trias war, gilt aber nur für den Bereich nördlich der Alpen (Germanische Trias-Supergruppe). Der Keuper wird in etwa auf den Zeitraum von 235 bis 199,6 Millionen Jahre datiert. Er folgt auf die lithostratigraphische Gruppe des Muschelkalks und wird von der lithostratigraphischen Gruppe des (Norddeutschland) bzw. des Schwarzen Jura (Süddeutschland) überlagert. (de)

Estas facies afloran en gran parte de Europa. El término procede de un dialecto franconio y significa «lutita quebradiza». Constituyen una unidad litostratigráfica.En la cuenca germánica se distinguen tres tipos de facies dentro del keuper:
* Vindelician Keuper: formado por arenas de los márgenes de la cuenca.
* Nordic Keuper: con aportes de arenas procedentes de Fenoscandia.
* Central Basin Keuper: sedimentos del centro de la cuenca consistentes en arcillas, carbonatos y evaporitas. (es)

De Keuper bestaat uit dolosteen, kleisteen/schalie en evaporietlagen, gevormd in het Midden- en Laat-Trias (ongeveer 230 tot 200 miljoen jaar geleden). Onder de Keuper ligt de Muschelkalk en er boven komen de oudste (onderste) gesteenten uit het Jura, die soms Lias genoemd worden. - Kajper – nieformalna jednostka stratygraficzna triasu wydzielona na terenie Polski pozakarpackiej i Niemiec (poza Alpami) w oparciu o kryteria litostratygraficzne. Leży powyżej wapienia muszlowego, a poniżej retyku. Kajper reprezentuje wyższą część profilu skalnego triasu, powstałą głównie w środowisku lądowym. Przeważnie jest on dwudzielny. Dolną część, zwaną kajprem dolnym (albo kajprem węglowym) budują głównie szare piaskowce i mułowce z rzadkimi przewarstwieniami wapieni, iłowców i węgli brunatnych. Są to przeważnie utwory rzeczne, rzadziej jeziorne, a wapienie reprezentują krótkotrwałe epizody zalewania przez pobliskie morze. Górny kajper zbudowany jest przez gruby kompleks czerwonych iłowców i mułowców z licznymi soczewkami gipsów i anhydrytów. Utwory te powstały w rozległych słonawych jeziorach, w klimacie suchym i gorącym. W środkowej części kajpru górnego jest seria szarych piaskowców rzecznych z licznymi szczątkami kopalnej roślinności, nazywana z tego powodu piaskowcem trzciniastym (lub trzcinowym). Reprezentuje ona epizod zwiększonej wilgotności klimatu. W Polsce, a zwłaszcza w Niemczech, w kajprze znaleziono liczne szczątki, a nawet całe szkielety kopalnych płazów i gadów. (pl)
