Insentif perjalanan sering digambarkan sebagai perjalanan bisnis yang dirancang untuk memotivasi atau merangsang kinerja karyawan atau sebagai penghargaan untuk tindakan-tindakan yang dilakukan oleh karyawan atau mitra usaha. Karenanya, insentif perjalanan membantu perkembangan loyalitas dan mendorong kinerja dalam suatu organisasi atau perusahaan. Ketika sebuah organisasi atau perusahaan merancang program insentif dengan baik, seperti memberi insentif pada seluruh departemen dalam perusahaan, bukan hanya memberi berdasarkan dampak dari departemen yang mendapatkan insentif, balik modal dari dana insentif tersebut dapat terjamin. Podróże motywacyjne to gałąź turystyki biznesowej przypominająca turystykę rekreacyjną, mimo to stanowi ona odrębny produkt turystyczny.
