One of my absolute favorite desserts to indulge in is Crème Brulee. It’s rich, smooth, and has a perfect crunchiness on top that makes it irresistible. Luckily, making Crème Brulee is actually quite easy. Here’s how to make this delectable dessert!
Ingredients:
- 1 quart of heavy cream
- 1 vanilla bean, scraped
- 1 cup of granulated white sugar, divided
- 6 large egg yolks
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 325°F.
2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the cream and the vanilla bean and cook until just simmering.
3. While the cream is heating up, beat together the egg yolks and 1/2 cup of sugar until light and fluffy.
4. Once the cream is heated through, slowly pour it into the egg mixture while whisking constantly.
5. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer to remove any clumps or pieces of the vanilla bean.
6. Divide the mixture evenly between 6 ramekins and place them in a baking dish.
7. Fill the baking dish with hot water, being careful not to splash water into the ramekins, and place in the oven.
8. Bake for 45 minutes or until the edges are set but the center still jiggles a bit.
9. Remove the ramekins from the water bath and let cool on the counter for a bit before putting them in the fridge to chill for a few hours or overnight.
10. When ready to serve, sprinkle each ramekin with a thin layer of the remaining sugar, then use a kitchen torch to caramelize the sugar on top.
11. Let cool for a couple of minutes before digging in and enjoying your homemade Crème Brulee!
