Inspiration
Movie Atlas AT aims to spur film tourism by making it easy for movie fans to easily identify and explore locations and destinations that appear in their favorite films or television series.
The Film Tourism Sector is estimated to generate USD $66.7 Billion in revenue in 2022 alone.
What it does
Movie Atlas AT is a platform built to promote film tourism by making it easy for fans to visit a beautiful location from their favorite movie. Users can also search a movie and find filming locations, then plan a trip to the location.
How we built it
We signed up to Amazon Web Services DataExchange and subscribed to IMDB API. We then query the API using GraphQL, identifying Filming Locations for each movie searched. These locations are presented to the user as destinations with a 'Visit Location' link.

Challenges we ran into
The AWS DataExchange API is quite difficult to grasp by newbies. But IMDB has a fantastic documentation and a great support team.
What's next for Movie Atlas AT
Hopefully we can be able to put locations into films before they are made.
