I have an IT background/career. I've been doing home improvement projects, additions, remodels, rental remodels for many years. I gravitate toward electrical work and seem to have a knack for it. I've even educated an inspector regarding electrical "taps" quoting chapter and verse from the NEC. He ended up agreeing with me and my installation passed inspection. I'm not licensed in any trades. I have a strong appreciation and desire for doing things right the first time. It's a B when you have everything done, wired up, ready for inspection and the inspector finds some fatal flaw. Fortunately I've never had that experience. The important thing is to try and learn those things that you "don't know that you don't know". Those are the ones that can get you in the most trouble.
