Essentials[edit]

You start on a platform with a few shotgunners in front of you. Pick up the shotgun in front of you and kill them. Note that there is a teleport destination on the platform that the imps from the area below the starting area can teleport to, spawning directly in front of you.

Jump off the ledge, and step onto the lowering elevator in front of you. Clear the imps on top and continue straight and up the stairs to meet your first challenge—a baron of Hell guarding the red skull key. Kill it and grab the red key. Go back down the stairs, and follow the narrow ledge along the western wall. There is an opening to your left, just before the square torch. Go inside, kill the enemies, and turn left into the pink corridor, and flip the skull switch at the end. Approaching the switch will open a monster closet behind you with a shotgunner inside it, while at the same time also opening up another monster closet, with the enemies inside, once woken up, teleporting onto the starting platform (Note: on UV and NM, a cyberdemon is among these—it can be killed by luring it to the edge of the platform where the teleport destination is, while standing in the area below it, and then, as soon as it starts shooting, quickly run into one of the two nearby teleporters to perform a telefrag on it).

The switch lowers the two flesh columns, allowing you to continue on south, where you will find another skull switch on your left. The skull switch opens a path in the western wall, leading to the next outpost tower. Continue on the ledge until you reach another skull switch, which requires the red key to activate. Hit the switch and go into the room that opens up right next to it. The room seems deserted. Navigate your way to the opposite corner, where a soulsphere is placed on the floor. Approaching it triggers an ambush, while picking it up will lower all the inner walls of the room as well as the northwestern outer walls, revealing the starting area of the map. Kill the monsters, then head to the lit-up alcove near the entrance, which has a health bonus placed inside it. Entering the alcove lowers the wall behind you, revealing the exit as well as a baron of Hell and one or two cacodemons.

Other points of interest[edit]

Secrets[edit]

  1. Look to the right while standing on the edge at the beginning of the level. You will notice the evil eye in the small alcove. Shoot it to reveal the secret room behind you with a berserk pack in it. (sector 41)
  2. After entering the previous secret room, press the right wall inside it to reveal another secret containing a soulsphere and a box of shotgun shells. (sector 45)
  3. After taking the first elevator at the beginning of the level, walk carefully on the small ledge around the rightmost torch to find a secret megaarmor. (sector 97)
  4. After beating the baron of Hell and picking up the red key in the cage, turn around. Drop down into lava near the rightmost torch. You will see a teleport flickering in the wall. Enter it to move into the secret room containing a soulsphere, a chaingun and a box of bullets. (sector 96)
