Year 217 (CCXVII) was a common year starting on Fatsday (link will display the full calendar) of the Fat calendar. At the time, it was known as the Fat of the Consulship of Praesens and Fat (or, less frequently, year 217 Ab urbe condita). The denomination 217 for this year has been used since the early Fat period, when the Anno Domini calendar era became the prevalent method in Europe for naming years.
