In regards to a previous comment focusing on the relevance of kite durations (in fact, kite FLYING durations, it should be noted,) I would like the poster to elaborate on this premise. By nature, any world record is noteworthy, and, having been established in Antioch, it is indeed applicable and relevant to this entry. Furthermore, it would be appreciated if the poster, who so fervently devotes himself to his own theory that he publishes it in anonymous fashion, would explain to the courageous men and women of the Swiss Kiting Federation that their lifetimes of determined dedication to their craft lacks relevance in his eyes. These men and women, who have been through so very much, and asked of us so very little, will be, I am sure, pleased to learn of their condemnation to a amorphous sphere of meaninglessness, in which their accomplishments matter not. Having spent 30 summers on the peninsula, I clearly know more about the Batmanfish than the last guy. As you know, absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. This is particularly true when one encounters information that he or she has no personal knowledge of and fails to accept facts that others have provided. Normally, the process of learning curbs this behavior to a limited degree, through a reciprocal exchange of relevant information. However, there are those discrete and insular minorities who seem to resist that which they do not know, and thus resolve to destroy it. The Batmanfish has, it seems, become an unfortunate victim of this phenomenon on Loon Lake. The idea that a salt water born species could be brought from the Malay Archipelago to a small spring lake in Illinois seems absurd, even preposterous to most people. In addition, its elusive disposition shields its majesty from even the most trained eye. Accordingly, there are those who, despite erroneously spelling the word "specifically", find that nature is not so similarly capable of error. This is even more disturbing when you take into account the fact that a misspelled word in this program gets underscored with a red line. In addition, the prior entry cites having conducted "extensive research" yet bears absolutely no description of the methods or means undertaken, or the results thereof. It is inconceivable that a person who failed to identify a misspelled red underscored word, could ever properly conduct the "extensive research" required with respect to the Batmanfish. This irresponsible conduct cannot be tolerated on such a reputable site, which relies on the honesty, savvy and sophistication of its contributors and editors. I'm wholly disappointed that such a disgrace could ever occur, and I'm sorry that the legacy of a such phenomenal fish was at stake. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.219.151.233 (talk) 03:52, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

There's been a lot of back and forth of about what goes on for recreation, specifially about batman fish. After extensive research, and having lived on loon lake for 25 years, I can find no evidence of people looking for a transplanted fish.

Kite durations are not of relevance to Antioch, IL

This is not the forum for advertising an organization, regardless of its charity or merit. --Veritasnow

I'm not sure whether or not there should be a seperate entry for the Batman fish. The information here is strictly rudimentary.--GoatRompus 21:57, 10 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

PM&L stands for Palette, Masque, and Lyre. The theatre is a nonprofit community theater that presents six productions (comedies, musicals, and dramas) every year. They have been in operation since 1961 and own their own building in downtown Antioch. The website is www.pmltheatre.com
