Correction requested: Farkhad Akhmedov not associated with Bechtel
editHello, I am IZ at Bechtel 2. Two recent edits by an IP editor (1)(2) claim that Farkhad Akhmedov is chairman of Bechtel Energy. The article cites the Official Journal of the European Union.[1] The journal states "He founded Tansley Trading, which supplied equipment to Russian gas producers and became a minority shareholder in Nortgas, an oil and gas company in Siberia, as well as Chairman of Bechtel Energy". The problem is: It is not true that Akhmedov is Chairman of Bechtel Energy, nor was it ever true.
It appears the European Union document may be based off a misunderstanding of this Forbes source, which states:
- In 1987 he founded Tansley Trading, which supplied equipment to Russian gas producers.
- Six years later, he became a minority shareholder in Nortgas, an oil and gas company in Siberia.
- In 1998, he bought out the 44% stake of another investor, Bechtel Energy, and became chairman of Nortgas.
- He sold that stake in 2012 for $1.4 billion.
The Farkhad Akhmedov article on Wikipedia states that "In 2012, Akhmedov sold his 49% stake in Northgas to Novatek for $1.375 billion." The Nortgas article also states that Akhmedov controlled Nortgas after he acquired Bechtel Energy's stake in Nortgas. Akhmedov did not, at any time, become chairman of Bechtel Energy, or any other Bechtel entity. The entity that at one time owned a minority interest in Nortgas was Bechtel Energy Resources Corporation, which sold its interest in Nortgas in 1996 and was dissolved in 2007. Akhmedov was not at any time Chairman of Bechtel Energy Resources Corporation.
I would also note that Bechtel Energy Inc. (a Delaware entity formed in 2006 as Bechtel Oil, Gas & Chemicals, Inc. with a name change to Bechtel Energy Inc. in 2021) does not have a chairman, which you can see on Bechtel's Leadership page on its website.
I am stepping in as Bechtel's representative in place of User:EM_at_Bechtel. As I work for Bechtel and have a conflict of interest, I am hoping someone else can review this request and update this article appropriately on my behalf. Thank you, IZ at Bechtel 2 (talk) 14:15, 14 April 2022 (UTC)

- Subject to comments from other editors, I agree that it should be removed, not least because the senior management section should deal with the senior management of Bechtel Inc rather than its subsidiaries. Dormskirk (talk) 15:08, 14 April 2022 (UTC)

Lack of objective criticism
editAs others have pointed out, lack of balance criticism and company response over the Cochabamba Water War. Also there is no comment whatsoever on Bechtel's involvement in the Three Mile Island cleanup controversy, ref Park's whistleblowing, the company involvement in the polar crane scandal, the ignoring of regulations etc. 2A00:23C4:D617:7701:574:37BA:DE92:93EB (talk) 20:28, 11 July 2022 (UTC) Jacob, 11 July 2022.

Hello, this is CM at Bechtel, and I am back to represent Bechtel on Wikipedia. I recently uploaded Bechtel's new logo to Wikipedia, which you can find here. Can editors please replace the old logo with the new one in the infobox of this article? I have a conflict of interest so I'd prefer if another editor could add it. Thank you. Request: Add subsection on Manufacturing & Technology
editThis edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest was declined. The request was not specific enough. |
Hello, this is CM at Bechtel with a new request. Because I have a conflict of interest, I am asking if others can please review this request and update the article.
Request
- Update the Locations and operational activities section with a new subsection titled "Manufacturing & Technology". This could go at the end of the other Bechtel business units within that section.
- Add:
- Manufacturing & Technology
- The Manufacturing & Technology unit designs and builds projects in the semiconductor, electric vehicle, synthetic materials, and data center markets.[1] M&T was selected by Intel to build a $20 billion semiconductor manufacturing facility in Ohio.[2] Other projects include electrical vehicle charging infrastructure for school bus provider First Student,[3] and front-end engineering design for Mitra Chem's commercial cathode manufacturing facility.[4]
- Manufacturing & Technology
