Photo request
editSomeone has to have a photo of a more distinguished or attractive hotel. Choalbaton 15:26, 26 December 2005 (UTC)

List of five star hotels
editI have just reverted the deletion of the list of five star hotels because (a) the deletion was unexplained, (b) it was anonymous, and (c) the IPaddress had a history of dubious linkspam type edits that others had reverted.
However I'm far from convinced that this list really belongs in WP. What is so special about 5 star hotels that merits their unconditional inclusion, as opposed to 4-star or even 1-star hotels that don't. What do other editors think? -- Chris j wood 13:09, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- What other objective cut off is there? Wikipedia can offer this sort of information in a non-commerical form, whereas if you try to get it from google, you'll get six zillion agencies, none of which will give you a coherent summary list. Chicheley 05:47, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
I do not have a history of dubious link spam. Please explain? as you can see my list dates back to 2003: http://web.archive.org/web/20030923195508/http://www.milesfaster.co.uk/luxury-london-hotels.htm
and pre-dates the time it was ripped for use on this page. It also contains errors which i have since corrected but which identifies it as my own work. It is wiki policy to mention all sources. I have tried to list my page as source but it keeps being removed as spam. Therefore do not use my work unless you credit it. You also said the removal was unexplained even though i did explain this in the history of edits.
Why not other categories like four and three star?
editIf you look for a London hotel in Google you get 18.6 million references, not one of which takes you to a coherent list, and certainly not a list which links you to the Hotel website where you can find their prices and OFFICIAL booking form. All you get are thousands of agencies who want you to book through them rather than direct. What recourse do you have when you use an internet agency and the Hotel says they never got the booking? None! Many of us want to find our way to the hotel's official site official site and a coherent list on Wikipedia is very helpful. Not I am not suggesting that Wikipedia should be a travel agent, but it is certainly quite reasonable that an encyclopdia would list hotel names and locations as well as links to their websites.
I am all in favour of including lists for other categories of London Hotel, including four and three star hotels. Although 16:54, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
tower hotel
edit- "The Guoman Tower Hotel (formerly Thistle) near Tower Bridge is one of the largest hotels in London with over 800 rooms, and is widely regarded as one of the ugliest and most insensitively located brutalist buildings in the city.
" where is this from? I have never regarded it as one of the worst looking hotels in London. It actually looks grand when viewed from the River. Does anyone else agree that the reference to it being one of the ugliest hotels is unwarranted and should be removed? Thundernlightning 15:13, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
references
editHer guys, there's not many references in this topic. Wouldn't the article be better for more citations? Thundernlightning 18:10, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
Five star list
editThe Mayfair Intercontinetal doesn't exist anymore - I think it is now the Radisson Edwardian The London Intercontinental on Park Lane is a five star hotel and isn't on the list
your right. The source for the original list on milesfaster shows that too. I will update this list when i get a bit of time Thundernlightning 08:52, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
AnDaz is alphabetised as Great Eastern, which is confusing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.232.9.216 (talk) 01:05, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

Railway Hotels
editThe Grosvenor House [Hotel] on Park Lane was not a railway hotel. The hotel at Victoria Station is the Grosvenor Hotel or sometimes known as the Grosvenor Victoria Hotel. (I should know, I've worked in both) 87.115.77.44 (talk) 13:40, 20 July 2022 (UTC)
