Inspiration for the story
editI've found a extract from a boook of Lohithadas' collected movie scripts. There, he tells about how the story of Kireedam came to be written and the real life seed that influenced :
Fair use rationale for Image:Kireedam.jpg
editImage:Kireedam.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Kireedam (1989 film) → Kireedam — This article is clearly the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC as Kireedam (2007 film) is merely a remake of this film. Disambiguation page is unnecessary per WP:TWODABS as there are only two topics (the third one is a different title though it is included in the disambiguation page), so a hatnote is sufficient. --Arfaz (talk) 21:31, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose. Just because one film is a remake of another doesn't make the original clearly the primary topic - if anything, the argument could be made that since the remake is more recent, THAT is the page that will be more sought after. Leave it be. --fuzzy510 (talk) 08:07, 3 March 2011 (UTC)
- Comment: The key criteria of the guidelines is that the primary topic is the topic that readers are most likely looking for. Both articles' traffic statistics are the same. The guidelines indicate an exception with recentism and educational value, but from what I can tell, these criteria are paired. (For example, the popularity of Avatar (2009 film) led to Avatar being moved to Avatar (Hinduism), but the move was reverted using the exception of recentism and educational value.) Brief research shows that the 1989 film is not educationally valuable, so I don't believe the guidelines say that the original typical film is primary topic over its typical remake. For similar situations, see how The Crazies and Death at a Funeral are two-item disambiguation pages. A pairing where the guidelines can apply is The Day the Earth Stood Still, where the 1951 film is set to become the primary topic as an educationally valuable film, where the remake does not have that value. I'm inclined to oppose but would like to hear a response. Erik (talk | contribs) 17:22, 3 March 2011 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: no consensus to move the page at this time, per the discussion below. Dekimasuよ! 05:07, 21 March 2018 (UTC)
Kireedam (1989 film) → Kireedam – Original film; the 2007 film of the same name is a remake. WP:PRIMARYFILM, see the example of Miracle on 34th Street. Also, a search on Google and GNews shows massive results on the original Malayalam film starring Mohanlal. There's hardly any results on the Tamil remake. Hatnote should be used instead of dab. --Let There Be Sunshine 06:31, 14 March 2018 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: Not moved. Clear consensus that the 1989 film is not the primary topic. (non-admin closure) В²C ☎ 20:41, 30 July 2019 (UTC)
Kireedam (1989 film) → Kireedam – Per WP:ONEOTHER. It's WP:PRIMARYFILM. The 2007 film is a remake. 2405:204:D205:A679:700B:20A3:7364:959D (talk) 10:45, 10 July 2019 (UTC)--Relisting. DannyS712 (talk) 00:29, 18 July 2019 (UTC)
- Having a remake is not evidence that the earlier version is the primary topic. It was pointed out in the previous request, but this film does not get more page views than the other one. 125.9.31.50 (talk) 11:15, 10 July 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose Neither articles look like the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, and the dab helps to spot incorrect incoming links. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 15:19, 10 July 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose per above, it's not clear that either film is the primary topic. PC78 (talk) 17:47, 10 July 2019 (UTC)
- Support Page views is only one way of determining the primary topic. The 1989 film is primary per 1) GSearch and GNews 2) Has multiple independent reliable sources in abundance compared to the remake 3) Has long-term significance as it is regarded a classic and so the more expected film in a search 4) Has cultural significance and for every other reason mentioned at the Legacy section. 137.97.156.154 (talk) 11:40, 13 July 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose. Being a non-remake does not make a film primary topic. —Lowellian (reply) 21:28, 18 July 2019 (UTC)
