Neolithic origins
edit- Obviously this news item ( http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2011/may/31/malborough-mound-wiltshire-silbury-neolithic ) will change this entry somewhat? Unfortunately I don't know enough about the known history of the Mount to edit the article myself. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.49.203.34 (talk) 08:58, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
- I don't know why the news people are getting their knickers in a twist about this just now because it has been known for decades that the Mound is Neolithic in origin - Alexander Keiller speculated in the 1930s that the Mound was a similar construction to Silbury Hill on his Avebury Estate, and work done by Wessex Archaeology a goodly while ago discovered red deer antlers dating from the Neolithic in the mound material and these were interpreted as tools used during its construction which had then been discarded. So all in all a bit of a non-news event.86.133.212.143 (talk) 09:11, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
