editI did a Google search, and besides a mention in an online forum (not a reliable source) all the online mentions of this village that I could find seemed to be based on this Wikipedia article. As an inhabited place, it is pretty much automatically notable provided we can verify its existence. Sources for this need not be online. Can anyone provide a published reliable source that simply establishes that this village exists? DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 19:00, 11 August 2017 (UTC)
- Hello DES -- The town exists, at least, the road to Toolihalan is on Google Maps. It has a school with 24 students according to official government reports and a billion databases that depend on the original government reports. This exercise reminds me of Agloe, New York. - Hello, Rhadow. I didn't really doubt it, but not doubting isn't the same as citing a source, and it could have been subtle vandalism, I suppose. Can you cite that official government report, please? That ought to be enough for this article. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 22:35, 11 August 2017 (UTC)
- Oddly enough, I have driven within a few miles of the purported site of Agloe at least 50 times, and never knew it was there, or should i say that it wasn't there. When i lived in NJ, I passed through Roscoe, New York every time I visited my parents, often stopping at the Roscoe Diner. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 22:41, 11 August 2017 (UTC)
I wouldn't bet my paycheck on this one. [1]. page 26. Neither the Indian government nor the Pakistani government seem to have noticed this place and described it in English. The village has 41% literacy, supposedly. Rhadow (talk) 23:35, 11 August 2017 (UTC)
- @Rhadow: The pdf your linked is clearly showing "Primary School Toolihalan Heerpora, Shopian. This village belongs to shopian district of J&K state, India". Farooqahmadbhat (talk) 18:58, 2 December 2018 (UTC)
The place exists! Check the Google maps and there are also some Web designers or something related to tech... Farooqahmadbhat (talk) 18:51, 2 December 2018 (UTC)
- Hello Farooqahmadbhat, Google maps is a primary source, and not reliable at that. Not good enough. DES, I think this article should go. Neither India nor Pakistan list it in official documents. Rhadow (talk) 19:03, 2 December 2018 (UTC)
- @Rhadow: sir, what about this pdf ? (Farooqahmadbhat (talk) 11:52, 3 December 2018 (UTC))
- Hello Farooqahmadbhat, a passing reference in a primary source ("Primary School Toolihalan Heerpora, Shopian") does not confer notability or, in this case, even prove existence of the village. There is no indication that the school is not in the town of Shopian, even. I am not convinced. Rhadow (talk) 12:00, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
- Hello StraussInTheHouse, a single passing reference to a school named Toolihalan or a road named Toolihalan, is insufficient to demonstrate the existence of a village. I know there are 574,000 villages in India, but we need more evidence than what this article gives. Rhadow (talk) 16:27, 31 December 2018 (UTC)
- @Rhadow: that was a semi-automated edit. The article invoked
{{unreferenced}}
while also invoking
{{citation}}
variant, meaning it was in Category:All articles lacking sources when it should have been in Category:All articles needing additional references. I've just done approximately 6,000 of them, this was just one of many; my edit isn't meant to assert notability or deny it. SITH (talk) 16:31, 31 December 2018 (UTC)
