About Me
editI'm not wanting to toot my own horn, but I might be considered the proverbial "jack of all trades"... a software developer for Android, web sites, and other browser-based software. And, I am active in many things related to emergency first response. I think Wikipedia, being a vast knowledge repository, has GREAT potential to help people, government and businesses understand emergencies and disaster response, and help first responders do their duties most effectively.
With my technical background, along with first-response leanings, I think it's an ideal time to be able to use the new technologies for safety and security. Of a more deeply personal note, I became especially inspired about communications, in particular, when I first learned that 9/11 police knew the towers might fall about 10 minutes before they did. At that time, police began to evacuate the area, but firefighters had no idea, due to lack of cohesive communication in that emergency situation. We can coordinate complex schedules with calendars and stuff, but that otherwise simple thing was an issue?! It blows my mind that we lost so many first responders because of this.
Personally, I love to write (technical writing, especially); so I'm happy to have found this little niche here on Wikipedia, and I look forward to contributing, learning and growing further! If I've done something improper, please be kind and also let me know how to do so properly (if you know). I am very excited to learn more.
Editing Philosophy
editInclusionary
editI believe all data is valuable, even if not encyclopedic. I take the position that if something is deemed to not be "encyclopedic"... that it might at least be described as encyclopedic, in the sense that it was deemed non-encyclopedic! :)

editI'm not a big fan of these folks... if you want to take the time to contribute to Wikipedia, at least take the 5 seconds to sign up an account. I know, an argument can be made for lubricating one's ability to "be bold," but come on... most anonymous users are probably spammers at worst, and poor editors at best.
