Page moves
I have reverted your page move of Subway (restaurant). This is against our naming conventions. Subway® is not the full name of the restaurant, as the ® is a symbol representing a registered trademark. Basically put, when naming their stores, Fred DeLuca didn't call them "Subway®". --Deskana (talk) 23:55, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
- I have also deleted two images, Image:Hopemills.jpg and Image:Hope mills middle 1905.jpg, that you claim you uploaded on your userpage. They were tagged as images of currency, which is blatantly incorrect. Should you provide the appropriate license for the images, you are welcome to reupload them. --Deskana (talk) 00:00, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
- I see your point, thanks for telling me anyway.
Louis Alberto Guel 00:01, 28 May 2007 (UTC)- Another question I have is how did you create those photos of you if you're in them? The tags on the image say you created them yourself, which is unlikely given that you're in them. --Deskana (talk) 00:07, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
- Please don't misunderstand. I have no doubt that the images in question are not copyright violations and as such are no major issue, I would just appreciate them being tagged correctly. I'm sure you understand? --Deskana (talk) 00:11, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
- Well I'm not quiet sure what tag will fit in, but I understand.
Louis Alberto Guel 00:14, 28 May 2007 (UTC)- I'm assuming the first two were taken by a friend or something, and the third is a professional photograph taken for you. If so, you can tag them as {{PD-because}} instead, giving the reason. For example, the professional one could be tagged as follows...
- {{PD-because|the photograph was taken by a professional photographer for me, and I, as the owner of the photograph, release all rights}}
- Copy the code as you see it, not as you see it when you edit the page. I hope this explanation helps. Ask if you have anymore questions. Thanks :-) --Deskana (talk) 00:19, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

Diablo
I am sorry, but I can not at the moment. The thing is that I pretty much take what I cna get. I go to car shows, and take pictures of the cars that are there. I pretty much take what I can get. There is no way I can gurantee that I can get a picture of any car. Since Diablo Gts weren't sold in the United States, where I live, I highly doubt that I will ever get a picture of one. I am sorry to tell you this, but I doubt if I can do that. Karrmann 16:30, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
- OK, Louis Alberto Guel 16:30, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
I fixed it. It was a div tag forcing it to float on the left, which made it stick right over the next section. By the way, the content should be directly in the article rather than in a template. Templates aren't supposed to be used like that, really. --Deskana (talk) 18:46, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
hi
Several of us are in contact about reviving WikiProject Mexico. I am an English teacher in Toluca Mexico and my students this fall will be contributing to Wikipedia as part of their classroom activities.
Since you have a lot of Wiki experience, I would love to have you "mentor" some of my students as they select topics and find their way around.
I can use some help too... you seem a LOT more technically proficent than me!
Welcome!
Leigh

Hi, paisano
I noticed that you are also from Oakland, as I am. And it seems that your family also comes from Zacatecas, so does my family :) I grew up until 8 in East Oakland, and when I came back to the U.S., I lived in the Fruitvale. Nice to see you joining the Mexican Project. :)--Hugo Estrada 01:50, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
Hi there
I noticed that you had spent some time moving a couple of articles on Aaron Brooks (American football) and Aaron Brooks (basketball). I hope you don't take offense to the fact that I have removed them, but per WP:D and WP:NCP#Middle_names_-_abbreviations_of_names, it is not advisable to add middle names simply for disambig purposes. I'll mark your page for watching if you want to chat about it, i'll see your edits. Juan Miguel Fangio| ►Chat 07:34, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
Invitation
You are invited to participate in the Hispanic and Latino Americans task force, a project dedicated to developing and improving articles about Latinos and Hispanics. Currently, we are discussing prospects for the project. Your input would be greatly appreciated! |

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Oakland Raiders 1963.png)
Thanks for uploading Image:Oakland Raiders 1963.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 05:08, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
Hi. Could you explain what you mean at Image:Jeff Otis.jpg? You tagged it with {{PD-self}}, but said, "Low resolution used, sources at nfleurope.com". If you, personally, are not the photographer who held the camera and took this photo, then you do not own the copyright to it and Wikipedia cannot use it. No copyright is created by taking a screenshot, downloading an image, extracting a file from a document, etc. --B 13:12, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
- The truth is, I don't know what tag it best applies, sorry of my mistake. --Louis Alberto Guel 21:02, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
- He asked you who took it.►Chris NelsonHolla! 21:17, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

- Just new pic. --Louis Alberto Guel 21:22, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
- Okay I'm pretty sure that's a copyright violation.►Chris NelsonHolla! 21:28, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
- Something that is hard for a lot of people to understand is that Wikipedia, unlike Myspace, Blogspot, Facebook, etc, does not allow you to post images from just anywhere that you find them. When you look at message boards or blogs, you will often find news media photos or just random pictures off of the internet. Heck, I found a football photo that I posted on a message board being used without my permission in a news article. One of Wikipedia's missions is to create "free" content that anyone can use and adapt. When we use something that is not licensed under a free license like the GFDL, that goes against our mission. Whoever took this image owns the copyright to it and unless they explicitly state, "I agree to license this image under the GFDL" or words to that effect, we probably can't use it. There are some limited occasions when we will use an image under a claim of fair use, but that is mainly for things like logos or historically significant photos like the Kent State shootings photo. Does all that make sense? I know that it's not the way other websites work, but Wikipedia is not myspace. I'm going to go ahead and delete this image. If there are any other images that you have uploaded with an incorrect tag that violate others' copyrights, please tag them with {{db-copyvio}} so that an admin can take care of them. Thanks. --B 21:43, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
Infobox
Hey, I like the infobox for retired players, the one that you made but can you move the Position and # over a little as you can see for Jim Otto the position is a little too much to the left. Thanks--Phbasketball6 20:24, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
Oakland Cemetery (Iowa City, Iowa)
I removed the hatnote because the only way to get to the page is to enter exactly Oakland Cemetery (Iowa City, Iowa). No dab is necesssary. --CliffC 20:23, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
Infobox NFL Player
While I appreciate your efforts to improve this template as I seriously believe a universal North American football player template should be used, retired or not and I think the use of the team colour template is a good idea (though the design of that template should have only included colour numbers), you should be aware that changes you make affect the appearance of 7000 articles. Please test templates in your sandbox first before applying them to active templates. Cheers! DoubleBlue (Talk) 20:15, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- I said I like the use of colour template. I am concerned about changing the template live and I don't like the formatting of the top section. Special:Whatlinkshere/Template:Infobox_NFL_player DoubleBlue (Talk) 20:25, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- I am aware of the team colour template use and I approve. No problem (though, as I said NFLPrimaryColor and SecondaryColor would have been much better designed with only colour numbers instead of including "background:" and "color:"). What I don't like is the weird all left formatting in the top section. DoubleBlue (Talk) 20:39, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
Correct. colspan=2 is the problem. DoubleBlue (Talk) 20:44, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- Let me have a go at it. Message me when you are not currently editing it so we don't have an edit conflict. DoubleBlue (Talk) 20:53, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- Though you didn't message me, it appeared that you were no longer working on it, so I went ahead and changed it. I'm done with it for today. Cheers! DoubleBlue (Talk) 21:25, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
Rename
I've been thinking about your rename proposal. I like this idea of a general football infobox to cover all leagues and a more league-neutral name seems appropriate. I'm not sure I like "gridiron football sportsperson" but I can't think of a better name yet. North American football player? I don't know. At any rate, I would leave the {{Infobox NFL player}} as a redirect as it's more intuitive (as is {{Infobox CFL player}}) and should there be another move towards separate league infoboxes, it can be achieved with little work. DoubleBlue (Talk) 07:09, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
- Wow. Odd that someone objects so strongly to using an NFL infobox for an AFL player. I didn't know there was a pro football player infobox. I think that Infobox NFL player and the pro football player infobox should be merged but probably to a new name as soccer enthusiasts could rightly object to using "pro football" as well. DoubleBlue (Talk) 16:45, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
I'm thinking there's no better name than {{Infobox gridiron football player}} or do you prefer {{Infobox gridiron football person}}? Why did you propose sportsperson instead of player? DoubleBlue (Talk) 17:14, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- Good point. I favour {{Infobox gridiron football person}} then. Cheers! DoubleBlue (Talk) 17:41, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- If we say 'person' rather than 'player', doesn't that suggest that coaches and referees are also included? --CliffC (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 19:37, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- Indeed, that was Louis Alberto Guel's point as well at User talk:DoubleBlue#Rename and I agree that would make this infobox more useful. I know, for example, it is in use at Pinball Clemons, who is an ex-player, ex-coach, now CEO of a team. Perhaps we should have this discussion in a more central location to keep things together.
