Thanks

I am a semi-retired WP editor (and academic) with many thousands of edits here, but no longer trust WP with my identity. Hence, I will continue, as Jimbo and other founders established as acceptable, to make my scrupulous and academic edits anonymously. Cheers, and thanks for your service to the encyclopedia. 2601:246:C700:19D:AC66:8549:25BB:12F3 (talk) 05:45, 20 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

I have to say, I was pretty impressed when I saw an IP quoting WP's policies in an edit summary. May I ask why you no longer trust WP with your identity? Does this have to do with the recent conflicts with the WMF? agucova (talk) 05:48, 20 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

No, not patrol baiting

Was a dummy edit, as they had reverted the page back after vandalising, which means that most tools refuse to revert them. So I did a dummy edit to deny them the pleasure of having the latest revision. I'm not fussed that you reverted it, since they still don't have the latest revision. I may have laughed a bit. Seems like an honorable goal; if you want to make another dummy edit, I won't stop you! agucova (talk) 08:02, 17 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Personal attacks on WP:VPM

edit

This is an unambiguous personal attack. After I just reminded you that reposting accusations from elsewhere without evidence violates WP:ASPERSION, you immediately proceeded to post one about me personally. Remove the first sentence and quote from that post, please. --Aquillion (talk) 22:17, 11 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Done. agucova (talk) 22:20, 11 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
FWIW, I’m not familiar with the en-wiki norms, but from the common sense, I think this was an important context to provide. If people participate in a discussion about a post that accuses a person of acting in bad faith on Wikipedia and other people of supporting this person, they should probably state the COI/being a part of the discussed accusations instead of trying to prevent this context from being known. If it violates the rules to provide the context, when a participant thinks there’s something in the direction of brigading going on, violates rules, I think this is an instance when WP:IGNORE should be remembered. A policy of hiding information away would make Wikipedia more vulnerable to groups of bad actors (regardless of whether it’s actually the case here). Though appropriate places for this kind of inquires and conflict resolution should be used. Saminmihail (talk) 13:49, 12 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
