Thanks for your contributions to Riccardo Paternò di Montecupo. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Clearfrienda 💬 23:07, 7 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Ways to improve Teatre Victòria

edit

Hello, GoldenBootWizard276,

Thank you for creating Teatre Victòria.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

Very nice article, but could do with more inline citations (i.e. after every statement); there are also a lot of 'redlinks' here - are you sure they are all needed? thanks

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Aszx5000}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

Request reason:

I would like to apologise for any copyright violations that I have committed and I can assure that I will not commit any in the future.

Decline reason:

In order to lift the block, we need to be certain that you understand how copyright works on Wikipedia. To allow the reviewing administrator to assess your understanding, please respond to the following questions in your next unblock appeal, explaining in your own words:

  • What is copyright?
  • How is Wikipedia licenced?
  • Why is copyrighted content not allowed on Wikipedia?
  • Under what circumstances can we use copyrighted content?
  • How do you intend to avoid violating the copyright policy in the future?

Your answers will enable us to establish whether or not you should be unblocked. Yamla (talk) 19:54, 17 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Unblock request 2

GoldenBootWizard276 (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I would like to apologise for any copyright violations that I have committed and I can assure that I will not commit any in the future. I will now answer in my own words the following questions which were asked by Yamla in my previous unblock request:

  • What is copyright?
Copyright is a type of "intellectual property" (IP), which relates to the right to copy creative works, these could include books, movies, paintings, photographs, movies, songs, plays, computer software, sculptures, and architecture.
Copyright is intended to protect the rights of authors, to financially incentivise the creation of creative works, and to prevent the unauthorised copying of and profiting from works which the author has created.
Copyright applies only to the tangible expression of an idea and not to the idea itself (this is known as the "idea–expression dichotomy"). Furthermore, in order to obtain copyright protection, works must meet the "threshold of originality", meaning that they must be sufficiently original in order to obtain protection. This means that copyright does not protect names, titles, slogans or short phrases, which in some cases may be protected as trademarks.
There are several limitations and exceptions to copyright which may vary by jurisdiction, such as "fair use" and "fair dealing". Fair use is usually decided by a court of law with several factors being used to determine whether or not something is fair use.
The public domain (PD) refers to creative works which are not protected by any intellectual property laws and can therefore be used by anyone without obtaining permission and cannot be owned by anyone.
  • How is Wikipedia licenced?
Most of Wikipedia's texts and many of its images are co-licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0) and the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) (unversioned, with no invariant sections, front-cover texts, or back-cover texts).
Text contributed directly to Wikipedia is licensed publicly for reuse under the CC BY-SA and GFDL (unversioned, with no invariant sections, front-cover texts, or back-cover texts).
The CC BY-SA 4.0 license permits content to be shared and adapted under the condition that proper attribution is given to the original author, and all derivatives are distributed under the same license as the original with no additional restrictions.
The GFDL allows for material licensed to be copied, redistributed and modified (with the exception of "invariant sections") but requires all copies and derivatives to be licensed under the same license.
  • Why is copyrighted content not allowed on Wikipedia?
Copyrighted content is not allowed as it would infringe on the rights of the original authors and make the Wikimedia Foundation liable to lawsuits. Furthermore, the use of copyrighted conent hurts the ability for Wikipedia's readers and end users to reuse the content under the free license.
  • Under what circumstances can we use copyrighted content?
Copyrighted content which is licensed under a compatible free or public-domain equivalent license such as Creative Commons or the GFDL can be used on Wikipedia, provided the conditions of the license are met. Content in which the author has given permission for it to be used solely on Wikipedia, is not permitted.
Non-free content is permitted as long as it meets the 10 criteria of the Non-free content criteria also known as the "Exemption Doctrine Policy".
  • How do you intend to avoid violating the copyright policy in the future?
I intend to avoid violating the copyright policy in the future by not committing the same mistakes that I have made in the past such as being under the assumption that close paraphrasing did not count as copyright infringement. In the future, I shall take better care to not commit copyright infringement such as by noting key information from multiple sources (rather than using phrases) and then revisiting it after some time to clear the original phrasing from my mind.

I'd support an unblock here, with a proviso that WP:CLOP is telling editors that close paraphrasing is not okay (instead of telling editors to use close paraphrasing to avoid copyright violations). --Yamla (talk) 11:33, 25 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
That's a good point. GoldenBootWizard276, do you have any comment about this? PhilKnight (talk) 16:53, 25 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Yamla: @PhilKnight: I agree with the conditions of the unblock and the proviso that close paraphrasing is not okay. GoldenBootWizard276 (talk) 19:05, 25 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
I instinctively resist any copyright unblocks because incorrect unblocks can (and often have proven to be) very costly. That said, I won't stand in the way of an unblock - provided the above is addressed satisfactorily. MER-C 16:56, 25 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Strike this. Got 100% on ZeroGPT for the answer to the copyright explanation. LLM use in a copyvio unblock request? Hell no. MER-C 11:35, 27 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Yamla: @PhilKnight: @MER-C: I can assure that I have not used AI in writing this unblock request. If you need proof, I can send you some of the notes and drafts I made in writing this request. GoldenBootWizard276 (talk) 19:03, 27 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Yamla: @PhilKnight: @MER-C: AI detectors are often unreliable and I believe this is a false positive.[1][2] I have emailed you some of the drafts of my unblock request to show that I did write this myself. GoldenBootWizard276 (talk) 16:16, 4 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
(Non-administrator comment) I have just been looking through unblock requests to see if there are any that are AI generated. ZeroGPT says that this unblock request is 58.43% AI/GPT generated. I am not sure whether this number is high enough to be significant, but there appears to be entire paragraphs highlighted as potentially AI generated. QwertyForest (talk) 17:48, 25 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, I have zero faith that this editor actually wrote "unversioned, with no invariant sections, front-cover texts, or back-cover texts," or gave their own definition of "idea-expression dichotomy" or any number of passages. If they're not being truthful about their unblock statement, which they said was "in their own words," I'm not sure how anyone can trust them to not violate copyright elsewhere. It's an administrator's call, of course. CoffeeCrumbs (talk) 19:16, 25 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
@QwertyForest: @CoffeeCrumbs: "unversioned with no invariant sections, front-cover texts, or back-cover texts" is the title of the license from Wikipedia:COPY and that title I included in my unblock request. GoldenBootWizard276 (talk) 17:37, 5 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Your own words? It would have been more convincing to demonstrate you know what these mean not simply what the text is. CoffeeCrumbs (talk) 04:36, 6 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
The request I wrote in my own words. For the GFDL, I believe that was in the title of the license but I digress. If you want me to define what "unversioned, with no invariant sections, front-cover texts, or back-cover texts" then I shall do that.
"Unversioned" means that it is not subject to versioning. This is where old versions of a file are stored. An "invariant section" is something which must not be removed or changed when the file is redistributed. "front-cover" and "back-cover" texts are texts which must be printed on the front and back cover if the document is to be printed. GoldenBootWizard276 (talk) 16:18, 7 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
