Bhubaneswar copyedit

Dear Mkar,

I have observed that you are quite interested in editing pages related to Odisha. The Bhubaneswar page currently lies in shambles and need heavy copyedits and information. I would request you, if possible try to edit the article to make it in a proper state. Thanks in advance. Amartyabag TALK2ME 08:48, 2 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Reg. edits on the Western Orissa page wrt "See Also" table

edit

Hi MKar, It's regarding the removal of the table and inserting a template. The table was great to begin with and gave a originating point to navigate to other relevant pages but with the passage of time and subsequent edits, the info represented had got all scattered over. The template of "Western Odisha" seems not to have been created but if we expand the section, we are missing out some info that was present earlier. We certainly don't want to loose out on this info. Thanks. --Karan1974 (talk) 19:47, 10 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of World Marriage Day

edit

The article World Marriage Day has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Lacks context.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. I dream of horses If you reply here, please leave me a {{Talkback}} message on my talk page. @ 04:44, 18 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Cinema of Orissa: Sorting criteria

edit

I just saw you re-sort the actresses at cinema of Orissa by given name instead of by family name (as I had sorted them some time ago). For consistency we should sort the actors and the directors by the same criterion as the actresses. I have started a section on Talk:Cinema of Orissa, but I expect you as a native speaker will find it easier than I to ascertain what we should sort the people by. Your input would be welcome. WikiProject India Tag & Assess 2012 Contest

edit

Hello friends, we are a number of editors from WikiProject India have got together to assess the many thousands of articles under the stewardship of the project, and we'd love to have you, a fellow member, join us. These articles require assessment, that is, the addition of a WikiProject template to the talk page of an article, assessing it for quality and importance and adding a few extra parameters to it.

As of March 11, 2012, 07:00 UTC, WikiProject India has 95,998 articles under its stewardship. Of these 13,980 articles are completely unassessed (both for class and importance) and another 42,415 articles are unassessed for importance only. Accordingly, a Tag & Assess 2012 drive-cum-contest has begun from March 01, 2012 to last till May 31, 2012.

If you are new to assessment, you can learn the minimum about how to evaluate from Part One of the Assessment Guide. Part Two of the Guide will help you learn to employ the full functionality of the talk page template, should you choose to do so.

You can sign up on the Tag & Assess page. There are a number of awards to be given in recognition of your efforts. Come & join us to take part in this exciting new venture. You'll learn more about India in this way.

This is an automated message from MadmanBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of List of festivals observed at Jagannatha Temple, Puri, and it appears to be a substantial copy of http://shreejagannathodisha.com/festivals.html.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. Speedy deletion nomination of List of festivals observed at Jagannatha Temple, Puri

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on List of festivals observed at Jagannatha Temple, Puri requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. DanielRigal (talk) 10:53, 8 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

I saw your note that you had copied the info from another article...but it was a copyright violation there as well. If you look at [1], you'll see that the information is identical to what was on both articles. As such, I have deleted your copied version and removed the section from the main article. Now I need to check the rest of the article to see if it's copied, too. Qwyrxian (talk) 13:23, 8 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
However, to be clear, if you can create a non-copied version of that article, you can certainly re-create it. Don't just take that other page and paraphrase it--start with reliable sources and build an article from there. It will probably be easier to start in a sandbox in your userspace; let me know if you need help setting that up. Qwyrxian (talk) 13:30, 8 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for removing the copyrighted material, I was not aware that it is identical copy of [2], because the section was in the main article for a long period without any notice. Anyway I will recreate the article from scratch. Mrutyunjaya Kar (talk) 14:09, 8 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

{{Education in India}}

edit

I noticed you were adding {{Education in India}} to articles about colleges. Were you aware of the discussion we had while overhauling it? If at all, you will want to use {{Higher education in India}}, but even that nav template is two wide to be included in every college article. These nav templates are meant for general articles. --Muhandes (talk) 22:39, 9 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your suggestion. I will use {{Higher education in India}} with {{Medical colleges in India}} so that one can find the links to related pages like: Central Council of Homoeopathy, Central Council of Indian Medicine, Dental Council of India, Medical Council of India etc. --Mrutyunjaya Kar (talk) 02:02, 10 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
I have a better idea. Why don't you add a line to {{Medical colleges in India}} with "Related institutes" and put those 4? You are taking an awfully large nav template just for four links. --Muhandes (talk) 05:39, 10 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Inappropriate addition of "Chicken template"

edit

Hi MKar, You have recently added the chicken template to several articles on poultry. However, these additions appear to almost totally irrelevant and perhaps confusing in some cases. For example, the Chicken template contains several 'Dishes' where chicken is the main ingredient but when this template is added to the Turkey or Goose articles, these become irrelevant. Perhaps I am missing the point of these templates - perhaps you would like to justify your addition of these? DrChrissy (talk) 19:10, 20 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

I am planning to move/transform the Chicken template to Poultry template so that it will be used to navigate to a large number of related articles and include all poultry birds covered under the page Poultry, and create another new template for chicken 'Dishes' as there are 110 pages under the category Chicken dishes. If you thinks it,s not decision, please let me know I will revert my edits. Mrutyunjaya Kar (talk) 02:07, 21 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
Hi. My concern is that the chicken template is not appropriate for other poultry. One option would be to create a 'poultry' template, but I imagine this would be huge and perhap not that useful to the reader. It might be better to create one for each poultry species, and seperate ones the broiler and egg-laying chicken.DrChrissy (talk) 17:44, 21 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hindu different?

edit

You say Hindu templates are "different". Why? All other templates on Wikipedia are blue. Why are Hindu templates so special? --Merbabu (talk) 07:14, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

I think this is only to identify similar templates and I followed the pattern. Is there any rule which prohibits use of color in templates? As far as I know, All other templates on Wikipedia are not blue, Islam related templates are colored with a shade of Green and so on... I have not mentioned anywhere that the Hindu templates are special. Thanks --Mrutyunjaya Kar (talk) 07:42, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Odisha Page Moves

I have observed that you are moving a lot of pages from Orissa to Odisha as per the successful move request. However, you should keep in mind that few of the articles might not be officially named Odisha still, like Orissa High Court which needs separate amendment of different Acts and Constitution before making the change. Even for Historical articles, you might consider keeping it to Orissa as there was no Odisha at that point of time. Please make a thoughtful decision before making a change. Yes, you are right there are two places, Kujang Tahasil is a larger area than Kujang village (not a town); as Jagatsinghpur district is larger than Jagatsinghpur. As far as I know there is not a single article on any tehsil of Odisha, so I assume you created the article about village (not about tehsil). Ways to improve Berhampur (Odisha Vidhan Sabha constituency)

edit

Hi, I'm Sulfurboy. MKar, thanks for creating Berhampur (Odisha Vidhan Sabha constituency)!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. /

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. Sulfurboy (talk) 22:42, 27 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

IMHO, at the time of tagging (04.12 am IST, 28 December 2013), the article was not an orphan as it was linked with other articles through Navbox. {{Ganjam district}} (05.51 pm IST, 27 December 2013). Thanks for your contribution to Wikipedia.--Mrutyunjaya Kar (talk) 02:03, 28 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
You are likely right. There has apparently been issues with the page curation tools which have shown pages as orphans that are in fact not. I apologize for the inconvenience. Sulfurboy (talk) 23:32, 28 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of 2014 Hirakud boat disaster

edit

The article 2014 Hirakud boat disaster has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:NOTNEWS

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

Hi MKar... I am working on the mass page creation of Vidhan Sabha and Lok Sabha constituencies in India on Punjabi Wiki. I noticed the good work you have done by creating the series of pages about Vidhan Sabha constituencies in Odisha on en.wiki and Oriya Wiki. Have you collected the raw data some where? What are you doing? Do you really think that all of the changes for the last five months are vandalism? Some of them may indeed be incorrect, but you also converted categories to non-existent categories, restored a floating reference, restored a nonreliable external link, etc. Meters (talk) 00:11, 5 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
