Indiana State Road 912

Sorry, but the road is along the city limits. The interchanges are in both cities, not one of them. I see you live no where near this expressway. I do. Busjack 15:04, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Still, it doesn't matter. The WP:USRD/ELG only supports one location and one county only. Please read that carefully before before making similar edits.  V60 VTalk · VDemolitions · Editor review 2! 16:12, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
Also, please provide a reliable source.  V60 VTalk · VDemolitions · Editor review 2! 16:17, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
I'm sorry, but your revision is simply incorrect. If you need a source for where the interchanges are, look at any road map (Google, Rand McNally, etc.). You seem obsessed with the format of the table rather than whether it contains correct information. Where is your source that the 169th Street exit is not in Hammond? I used to live in Hammond and worked at Inland Steel, and used Cline Ave. to commute between the two, so I know. --Busjack 16:23, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

I am commenting on both of those points. There must be a reliable source to provide that correct information. You are not a reliable source, according to Wikipedia policies. Another simliar conflict to this is at Pennsylvania Route 43.
Please refrain from setting up an edit war. If you revert three more times, you will be blocked for 3RR.  V60 VTalk · VDemolitions · Editor review 2! 16:28, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

I posted a link to a Google map establishing a reliable source that you are wrong. Busjack 16:34, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Google Maps is not always a reliable source. See Indiana State Road 2, where the easternmost terminus is currently decommissioned. Google Maps shows the now decommissioned section, so Google Maps is not always reliable. In this case, it is the same thing like the aformentioned article.  V60 VTalk · VDemolitions · Editor review 2! 16:40, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

On another note, the confirmed reliable source, as of right now, is Indiana Highway Ends. Everything in SR 912 should have information from that source.  V60 VTalk · VDemolitions · Editor review 2! 16:42, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
Who, other than you, appointed it the sole source? I would think that the only authoritative source would be the Indiana Department of Transportation.Busjack 16:44, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

You may ask any other INSR editor besides me, that it is the only confirmed source. INDOT doesn't provide this info. PAHighways is the official confirmed source for PASH. PennDOT doesn't provide route logs, either.  V60 VTalk · VDemolitions · Editor review 2! 16:49, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

I clicked on it, and it does not confirm your assertion that the 169th St exit is in Gary. So you have no source. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Busjack (talkcontribs) 11:51, 1 March 2007 (EST).

So put one location or the other. It doesn't matter if it is on the line or anything.  V60 VTalk · VDemolitions · Editor review 2! 19:20, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Suffice it to say, I noted the dispute on your Editor Review page. Busjack 21:35, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
I saw that way before you noted it here. That text that said "I have not been in any..." was written before you came along.  V60 VTalk · VDemolitions 22:04, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
Speaking of map sources, if you can find a USGS map depicting the location of SR 912, I'll leave it there, since USGS is a government source, which is always reliable.  V60 VTalk · VDemolitions 22:08, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Please give me verifiable sources (to which you have no connection) for your assertions:

  • Regarding what is a verifiable source.
  • Regarding the policy of verifiable sources for the Indiana project.
  • Your source of expertise regarding highways.
  • Who certified you to decide what is a verifiable source.
  • How "policy" trumps the need for accurate information.
  • On what verifiable sources did you rely for your edits to the table.

In the meantime, since you made a scene about reverts, I just marked the table disputed. You can't revert that in good faith. Busjack 23:54, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

Fansites like Indiana Highway Ends and Pennsylvania Highways are not reliable sources. If you want a source for where city limits are, try the U.S. Census Bureau. With highways turned off, you can see that the city line is right along SR 912. --NE2 00:31, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

Re: cleanup

However, it is now part of the interstate system as the route is entirely signed as such. Maybe we should het another opinion at the Wikipedia Interstate Highway Project or the PA Pike talk page. Jgcarter 22:10, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

Question re: WT:USRD/ELG

Why did you close the concurrency section of the poll? There certainly wasn't any consensus. "Majority != consensus; this doesn't mean that discussion's over and whoever "wins" the vote gets their way." We should continue to discuss things until we have a true consensus.

Also regarding IN 912, there's absolutely nothing in the exit list guide that says only one location is allowed. Take a look at I-295, which has quite a few interchanges that lie on boundaries. -- NORTH talk 23:55, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

Infoboxes?

You seem to be in the know with all the work going on with infoboxes. I noticed that the font has been made smaller and also on the state infoboxes we have a (currently redlink) {{Template:Infobox road/VA maint}}? Just curious as to what that will be. If there's a discussion somewhere that I missed (very likely), just point me to it. Have a good one. Cheers! --MPD T / C 18:41, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

It was discussed on the U.S. Roads IRC channel. The contents of that template should be "Maintained by VDOT".  V60 VTalk · VDemolitions 18:57, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. -- NORTH talk 22:18, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

I know, I know, but I was using popups.  V60 VTalk · VDemolitions 22:20, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
Does popups not allow you to enter in an edit summary? I don't use wikitools, so I wouldn't know. If not, then it's probably only intended to revert obvious vandalism and the like. Doing other sorts of reverts without an edit summary makes it look like you're reverting blindly, and makes it the prime target for edit warring. -- NORTH talk 22:51, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
Yes, see Wikipedia:Tools/Navigation popups/Edit summary options.  V60 VTalk · VDemolitions 22:54, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
Well, then, "but I was using popups" isn't an excuse, is it? ;-) -- NORTH talk 22:58, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
It was, until I checked the page to see if there is functionality to provide an edit summary.  V60 VTalk · VDemolitions 23:07, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Hey

Hey Vishwin, who are you doing? Listen, i need tips becuase this article i've been working really hard so i could reach Good Article status. Pennsylvania Route 65; can you tell me if there's anything missing or the tone of the description or something wrong. I haven't gotten much help anyways with this highway. Thanks, good night. -- JohnnyAlbert10 Time to talk · My Help 23:29, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

You might want to request a peer review.  V60 VTalk · VDemolitions 16:22, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

List of highways numbered 888

I think the version I had prior to your revert is more useful, especially in light of it being a dismabiguation page rather than being a simple list page. In principle, we should include all major uses of "route 888", "highway 888" or their variants in the page. In any case, I won't change it back if you think that limiting it to just numbered highways is better. --Polaron | Talk 23:03, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

The title implicates that it's highways only.  V60 VTalk · VDemolitions 23:05, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

Re: Reverting vandalism

Thank you very much for the barnstar! I really appreciate it. Glad I could help in reverting your userpage! Will (aka Wimt) 00:38, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

Cameron Mitchell (Stargate) warning

Thanks for recongnizing the intent. Would you mind removing the warning, since it was a mistake? All that strikeout looks ugly ;) CovenantD 01:26, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

RFAR reversion

I don't think you realize that I tried to fix the RFAR request before reverting it. If you feel that the request should stay, you should at least revert to the version where I tried to fix it, as the submitter has damaged the hidden template which new submitters are supposed to use.

The request is from an anonymous ip address who clearly doesn't understand the process or how to fill out the form. His only other edits are vandalism, he has not tried any other form of dispute resolution, he has not signed the request or informed the involved parties, fundamentally he doesn't understand what ArbCom is for. This is why I thought it would save everybody time if I just deleted it.

If you really want to help this guy make a request without breaking anything I strongly suggest you revert to my second to last version. --Ideogram 19:27, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

OK, I'll revert back. My apologies.  V60 VTalk · VDemolitions 19:29, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
No problem. --Ideogram 19:31, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

IRC fun

So I'm having issues connecting. It may just be my network here; at home I think I got on one before. Either way, currently I'm trying to get on. I went to Metawiki and clicked the link to the USRoads channel, and ChatZilla opened (used with Firefox), and this is essentially what I get:

[INFO]	Network view for “irc.freenode.net” opened.
[INFO]	Attempting to connect to “irc.freenode.net”. Use /cancel to abort.
	[INFO]	Connecting to irc://irc.freenode.net/ (irc://irc.freenode.net/)...
[ERROR]	Connection to irc://irc.freenode.net/ (irc://irc.freenode.net/) refused. Reconnecting in 15 seconds.
	[INFO]	Connecting to irc://irc.freenode.net/ (irc://irc.freenode.net/)...
[ERROR]	Connection to irc://irc.freenode.net/ (irc://irc.freenode.net/) refused. Reconnecting in 30 seconds.

And it goes on. I've tried mIRC but it does essentially the same thing: it can't connect. Any help? Also, the tutorials I've read online don't help. --MPD T / C 05:24, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Check your Internet connection. I am guessing it's an overhyper firewall, so if it's the case, set mIRC and/or Firefox to full access (or whatever setting that will allow full access).  V60 VTalk · VDemolitions 12:12, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

You helped choose Interstate 88 (east) as this week's WP:USRD/AID winner

Thank you for your support of the U.S. Roads Article Improvement Drive.
This week Interstate 88 (east) was selected to be improved to featured article status.
Hope you can help.

WP:UW future?

Hi Vishwin60,

Sorry for the blatant spam, but you have yourself down as interested at WikiProject user warnings WP:UW. There is a discussion on going here that might be of interest to you about the future of this project. There are two strawpolls on the talk pages and the second one is about the future of the WP:UW project. Now we have the end in sight we are looking at wrapping up the project and merging it with Template messages/User talk namespace WP:UTM and creating a one stop shop for all userspace templates. As you have yourself down as interested in this project we thought you may have some input on this issue, and would like you to visit the discussion and give any thoughts you may have on the matter. Cheers Khukri 10:38, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
