RM closure

edit

Can you please revert your RM closure at Talk:Ted Wilson (figure skater) or expand the explanation to describe why you chose "figure skater" rather than "ice skating"? I am considering opening another WP:RM or possibly a WP:MR about that question. — BarrelProof (talk) 21:01, 1 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Can you please revert your RM closure... or expand the explanation?
How about both? (:
I have re-opened the RM; I originally closed it as I did because:
  1. It seemed to me that most participants found "(figure skater)" acceptable, and several of the advocates for that DAB (i.e. Roman Spinner) noted that their support took into account Wilson's later time as a manager
  2. "(____ skating)" as a somewhat unnatural DAB (as argued by Swatjester) seemed a strong enough argument to create a weak consensus for "(figure skater)" over "(figure skating)"
Given it was only a weak consensus, I probably ought to have noted so in my close; for that, I apologize.
I've not had to re-open an RM before and I can't find any advice on the details, so perhaps you can advise me: ought I to request the move be reverted in the meantime? (I cannot do so myself for the usual technical reasons) Quadrantal (talk) 21:58, 1 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for being open-minded about it. I think the way you reopened it was fine. I don't think it's necessary to revert the move that already took place, since it's clear that title is better than the old one. — BarrelProof (talk) 22:14, 1 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
