- Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia
- Respect copyrights – do not copy and paste text or images directly from other websites.
- Maintain a neutral point of view – this is one of Wikipedia's core policies.
- Take particular care while adding biographical material about a living person to any Wikipedia page and follow Wikipedia's Biography of Living Persons policy. Particularly, controversial and negative statements should be referenced with multiple reliable sources.
- No edit warring or sock puppetry
- If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
- Do not add troublesome content to any article, such as: copyrighted text, libel, advertising or promotional messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject. Deliberately adding such content or otherwise editing articles maliciously is considered vandalism; doing so will result in your account or IP being blocked from editing.
The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Tan Jee Say, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://ge2011.yoursdp.org/candidate/185/tan-jee-say.
It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.
If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) CorenSearchBot (talk) 11:27, 18 July 2011 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Tan Jee Say
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Tan Jee Say requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. The article Neo Swee Lin has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Cahk (talk) 08:38, 9 February 2018 (UTC)

- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);

- Please don't cite the IMDb or copy its data into Wikipedia. It is not a reliable source. Please see WP:UGC, which clearly identifies it as unreliable. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 08:40, 1 June 2018 (UTC)
You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you add unsourced material to Wikipedia, as you did at Okita Mitsu. As you've been told, reliable sources are required. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 13:01, 1 June 2018 (UTC)
- It looks like you're working on biographies of underrepresented people. While this is a good thing, you need to cite your sources (and stick to reliable sources). Sometimes, it's better to say nothing at all than to add content that's poorly sourced. There are a lot of sites on the internet that have celebrity gossip and factoids, but few of them are reliable enough to cite on Wikipedia. Reliable sources need to have a history of fact-checking and issuing corrections, editorial control, and be staffed by professionals (usually journalists or academics). This means no self-published blogs, user-generated content, public records, etc. This is to protect hoaxes and incorrect information from spreading around the internet, which is a very real possibility when citing the IMDb or similar sites. So, while we need the work you're doing, we also need you to be careful about how you do it, especially when you're editing a biography of a living person. If you have trouble telling whether a source is reliable, you can ask for input at the reliable sources noticeboard. If you get stuck, you can always come to WikiProject Biography for help. The article Leung Lan-kwai has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
No reliable sources, fails WP:BIO.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Fram (talk) 10:04, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
Nomination of Leung Lan-kwai for deletion

- Awards that are uncited or using Primary sources which is not allowed in Wikipedia. The fact is no main stream media in the world has covered these "awards".
- "Notable Works" in the Infobox are unsupported. His books are not best sellers nor acclaimed and we will find difficulty even finding any reviews.
Please do not re-insert them again. The five pillars of Wikipedia in your Welcome message above - "All articles must strive for verifiable accuracy, citing reliable, authoritative sources" 203.78.15.150 (talk) 12:27, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
- @203.78.15.150: Reading the policy "A primary source may only be used on Wikipedia to make straightforward, descriptive statements of facts that can be verified by any educated person with access to the primary source but without further, specialized knowledge. For example, an article about a novel may cite passages to describe the plot, but any interpretation needs a secondary source." Awards given by the organisations are straightforward, descriptive statements of facts that they have given such awards to Chee. Primary sources are fine in such cases. --Xaiver0510 (talk) 01:45, 5 March 2019 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Shelley Sweeney
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Shelley Sweeney requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Shelley Sweeney. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. ミラP 16:09, 5 January 2020 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Bukit Panjang Plaza
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Bukit Panjang Plaza requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
- Hi - just to explain what I did with the article and the draft - you copied the content of the draft back into the redirect in article space. This is problematic because it messes up the article's editing history - please can I ask that you wait until that title it deleted (the redirect has got a speedy deletion tag on it), and then move the draft back into article space if you think it's ready to publish. Do please note that different projects have different standards on notability and sourcing - an article existing on zhwiki does not demonstrate that we should have one on enwiki. I have no view on that question, I haven't reviewed the draft - just letting you know. Best GirthSummit (blether) 13:54, 1 January 2021 (UTC)

The article Dana Shum has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Biography of living person referenced only by two unreliable sources (blogs)
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:00, 2 July 2023 (UTC)
Women in Red 8th Anniversary
editWomen in Red 8th Anniversary | |
In July 2015 around 15.5% of the English Wikipedia's biographies were about women. As of July 2023, 19.61% of the English Wikipedia's biographies are about women. That's a lot of biographies created in the effort to close the gender gap. Happy 8th Anniversary! Join us for some virtual cake and add comments or memories and please keep on editing to close the gap! |
