Just wondering...
... what's up with this? I haven't seen anywhere that the articles posted on rearchgate aren't linkable. Can you point me in the right direction? Thanks! MeegsC (talk) 10:45, 3 October 2022 (UTC)
- @MeegsC: My apologies, I should've asked; are the copies of these papers shared on ResearchGate exactly the same as the ones published in the actual journals? theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (she/her) 15:23, 3 October 2022 (UTC)
- Hi leeky. Yes, they are! I don't link to any that are labelled "pre-print" (and yes, journals print that on pre-publication copies sent to authors). MeegsC (talk) 16:18, 3 October 2022 (UTC)
- @MeegsC: Well then, that's my mistake :) I'll revert my edit. theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (she/her) 16:19, 3 October 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks! That's appreciated. MeegsC (talk) 17:31, 3 October 2022 (UTC)

Your draft article, Draft:History of the entire world, i guess
Hello, Theleekycauldron. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "History of the entire world".
In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. If you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.
Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 22:37, 4 October 2022 (UTC)
Black/people of color
Sorry, but I don't understand why you are making this change. And if you are going to go with it, then at least use upper case for "Black"--thank you. Drmies (talk) 17:48, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
- I made that change, as well as another tweak. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 17:50, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Drmies: what I'll say is that "Black people" is more precise than "people of color" in this case, as well as more concise and easily read. I appreciate your changes :) although I'd ask you to note that in general, nominators are discouraged (really, disallowed) from modifying their own hooks post-promotion. I would have happily implemented the changes myself, now that I'm back at a computer. Thanks, theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (she/her) 20:51, 6 October 2022 (UTC)

I can suggest more hooks, but I need your input for ALT1 and any potential further hooks since you brought up your issue. SL93 (talk) 23:54, 6 October 2022 (UTC)

GAN review signature problem
Hi -- BlueMoonset and I made these edits to your signature on the GAN review you're doing. The problem was that the GAN page is maintained by Legobot, which can't handle many divergences from typical signatures. There were two changes -- cutting the "she/her", and uppercasing the links. I can imagine you don't want to lose the "she/her" from your signature, but if you think you might do any more GA reviewing, would you consider changing your signature to have uppercase in the links? The displayed text can still be lowercase, but the underlying link apparently has to have an uppercase initial letter. For the she/her, if you do another review, you might want to manually delete it -- just from that first line in the review -- it's OK everywhere else. If you don't your name won't show up as the reviewer on the GAN page.
Unfortunately we can't change the bot code, otherwise of course that would be the best solution. Thanks -- Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 15:54, 8 October 2022 (UTC)
- Hey, Mike Christie! That's no problem at all – I'm a pedant, but I respect technical restrictions. I'll just use the default suggestion that the new GA page gives me. theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (she/her) 22:04, 8 October 2022 (UTC)

Regarding "Rape during the [War/Conflict Name]" articles
Regarding your recent page move here, would you please move that one back to the original title to match all the others? None of them use "in", instead they all use "during," for example:
- Rape during the occupation of Germany
- Rape during the liberation of France
- Rape during the Soviet occupation of Poland
- Rape during the Bangladesh Liberation War
- Rape during the Kashmir conflict
- Rape during the occupation of Japan
- Rape during the Bosnian War
- Rape during the Congo civil wars
- Rape during the Armenian genocide
- Rape during the Rwandan genocide
- Rape during the Darfur genocide
- Rape during the Syrian civil war
Thanks! AzureCitizen (talk) 14:14, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- @AzureCitizen: huh! funky that, i must have missed all of these when looking for examples. Thanks for setting me straight! theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (she/her) 19:09, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of User:Theleekycauldron/chessboard
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. A tag has been placed on User:Theleekycauldron/chessboard requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free web hosting service. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. - Just noting I've contested this absurd speedy. Apparently the fun police are out in full force today. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 20:03, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- In addition to failing WP:1Q, this more simply fails the wording of U5 itself, as the criterion does not apply to users with any meaningful mainspace experience, which I'd dare say leek has just a bit of. @FAdesdae378: Please be more prudent with your tagging in the future. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 23:23, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
The article NJGov you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needing to be addressed. If these are fixed within 7 days, the article will pass; otherwise it may fail. See Talk:NJGov for issues which need to be addressed. Message delivered by Legobot, on behalf of Lee Vilenski -- Lee Vilenski (talk) 20:01, 15 October 2022 (UTC)
The article NJGov you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:NJGov for comments about the article. Well done! If the article has not already appeared on the main page as a "Did you know" item, or as a bold link under "In the News" or in the "On This Day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear in DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On This Day" column do not affect DYK eligibility. DYK for Hurricane Shark
On 20 October 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Hurricane Shark, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that "the Hurricane Shark is real"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Hurricane Shark. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Hurricane Shark), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

DYK hook promoted without image
Hey theleekycauldron, you recently promoted my hook for Rockstar Leeds. That hook had an image attached that I only noticed was missing in the prep area because I checked it randomly. Showing an old, decrepit church building was what I thought would lure the reader most into clicking on that article. I realize that the hook can work without the image, but I would have really appreciated if you had communicated this change with me. With the building's photo now missing, it makes no sense to actually name the church anymore. Please simplify the hook to:
... that Rockstar Leeds was once based at a decommissioned church?

- Please provide some closure to this before it's too late. IceWelder [✉] 19:52, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
- Hi there, IceWelder – my apologies that your hook didn't receive the image slot. It does suck that we can't run every approved image. Since the hook is in queue, I can no longer edit it – but if you want to ask at WT:DYK, you can say that you have my support for that change. theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (she/her) 19:58, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
Expansion
I was inspired by your article work to go for another GA. I have been working on Iowa Cow War which was in pretty bad shape since its 2005 creation. SL93 (talk) 02:26, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- @SL93: Incredible, that looks quite promising :) theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (she/her) 02:41, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- It is now a GA. SL93 (talk) 18:37, 22 October 2022 (UTC)
Prep 3 image response from DYK talk page
I realized that I might have come across as rude in my response to you. It wasn't my intention. I was stating my beliefs, but maybe too bluntly. SL93 (talk) 01:07, 22 October 2022 (UTC)
- No worries, SL93 – we've all got different roles to play at DYK, and that makes us care about different things :) congrats on the GA! theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (she/her) 19:58, 22 October 2022 (UTC)

Is there something still wrong with the hook? The image doesn't need to be used. SL93 (talk) 21:15, 18 October 2022 (UTC)
- @SL93: It's fine, but I can't promote it, right? Might wanna hit up another promoter. theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (she/her) 21:16, 18 October 2022 (UTC)
- Sorry. I forgot that most of the hook came from you. SL93 (talk) 21:19, 18 October 2022 (UTC)
- Just seeing if you can promote it since a new hook was approved. If not, I won't push it. SL93 (talk) 13:48, 23 October 2022 (UTC)
Begging a boon of thee
Could you turn your heads-up display back toward Tek Fog and help me better understand what The Wire's pulling of several sources due to investigation of the author means to the overall? Thanks! BusterD (talk) 10:59, 23 October 2022 (UTC)
- @BusterD: a boon? you dare ask me for a boon? I sit here wondering how long it's been since i received an email...
- I'm only kidding :) So I couldn't find reliable sources (OpIndia is on the spam blacklist, of all things, with Breitbart) stating that The Wire has pulled its coverage of the Tek Fog story yet, only reliable coverage a few days back about the author and that The Wire has been asked to take it down. Unfortunately, under WP:RIGHTGREATWRONGS, I don't think there's much we can do just yet. If it does end up being true that Tek Fog is fictitious, and that does make the RSes, I'd say that we delete this (maybe save the reflist), maybe start over at Tek Fog hoax if the coverage swings that way. Right now, though, I don't see what we can do with current RS coverage other than sit on our hands for the next few days or so. If I were to engage in pure flatulent speculation, we could get local consensus to declare the initial Wire piece (and subsequently everything based off of it) unreliable, and... maybe Tek Fog suddenly loses notability as an app? I really couldn't say what happens if we take that route – local consensus should probably decide.
- Gonna ping Sammi Brie for her opinion as well, since she was involved in the DYK nom :) theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (she/her) 19:15, 23 October 2022 (UTC)
- Clearly, there is something new that was not a consideration earlier this year. We need better sourcing than OpIndia. I do not know enough about Indian news media to evaluate partisanship etc., but clearly this is worth keeping an eye on. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 19:58, 23 October 2022 (UTC)
DYK hooks

Error in the lettuce DYK
Hi, I think there are two errors in the Lettuce DYK: 1 there is no mention of betting that I could find doing a word search; 2 it wasn't about the lettuce becoming PM, it was whether the lettuce would have a longer shelf life than PM Truss's premiership. Mr Serjeant Buzfuz (talk) 01:50, 27 October 2022 (UTC)
- You might want to read a bit more closely:
Bookmaker Paddy Power offered odds of 500-to-1 that the lettuce would become the next prime minister.
